Far as I know, most Tournaments are really strict with the NO Macro ruling. I seen occasions where the TO wanted to allowed it but the Tournament bylaws or even the people the TO worked for did not.
Tested the macro function on the stick, the LED does flash when a macro button is being used so I can confirm. But what I found encouraging is that the PCB does not store the macro setting in flash memory, so unplugging the stick erases the macro. I wonder if removing the button and covering the hole with tape or epoxy would be enough to make the stick tournament viable
Depends on the tourney, as I said most tourneys are really black and white on the issue.
Being ridged, strict with no leeway with the rules may not seem fair but its to enforce fair game play.
If I was a TO, I would outright ban all the Mayflash Version 2 stick just so their no later miss interpretations or confusion.
Like how EVO still banned Dual Shock 3 controllers even though there a mod that kills its wireless capabilities and completely turns the game pad into a wired controller.
Anyways, I can imagine if you did have the stick approved by event staff, seeing the Macro was disabled, the TO can still go and say that stick later not allowed or even disqualify you over it.
I was looking for a cheap stick to use with the original xbox, I was thinking of getting this plus Seimitsu Ls56-01 and Seimitsu buttons as it will be mainly for shooters and a Cthulhu pcb. Would there be any issues with the parts I want to use ?
After a quick test with the pcb it is actually common ground. When unplug there’s no continuity with the common harness for the buttons and the ground plane. When plugged in and the pcb is powered there is continuity. Going to look over the pcb some more, but you can dual mod this stick.
update: the L and R set of buttons seemed to have issues on the ps4 pcb. Shorting the common line to ground seems to fix the issue. Not sure if other pcbs would of had the same problem or not.
Update on the Venom PS4 Stick: Today is Amazons release date and they have no more in Stock… so thats that.
I did not receive one even though i pre ordered on the 24th of Jan.
(My guess is they never got any of the sticks to even send out)
Its decent if you plan to swap out the buttons and joystick.
For the cost, $69 plus another $40 - $45 for parts is still better than most new sticks on the market.
Many people (myself included) are afraid to open something unfamilar up and start working for the first time. I can assure you that these swap outs are very, very easy if you ever want to (or need to, as microswitches eventually wear out) do them down the line.
