Oh man, it gets worse. I was just playing with it again, and if you push the face buttons at the same exact time as their respective directions they also don’t activate for at least one second (usually longer though, up to several seconds). So it’s not just RELEASING the buttons at the same time, but PRESSING them at the same time is a problem as well!
The triggers and bumpers don’t seem to have this problem, but I can’t seem to get the program function on the adapter to allow me to remap the PS2 controller. I guess that’s only for the keyboard and mouse.
Since the right trigger and bumper are the 3rd and 6th buttons on my control panel, I can either rewire it and screw it up for the other systems I use it on, or deal with it.
Goddamn, I spent as much on these adapters as I did on the system.
It gets worse again. Before I was testing with PSX Dual Shock controllers, but I tested this problem out with a PSOne controller and an HRAP2, and these mistakes didn’t correct themselves after a second or several seconds, they would just stay stuck like that.
I guess I should test this bug with a PS2 controller, not that I want to redo the padhacks in my arcade cabs, but I’m curious.
I really hate to bring in this news since I was REALLY hyped for this thing to work well, but I unfortunately have to confirm dmauro’s results. Whether I’m pressing the corresponding direction and button at the same time or releasing it, it will hang.
If I press Right and Circle on my official PlayStation 2 DualShock 2 at the same time, so long as I’m holding both of those buttons, my fighter in Street Fighter IV won’t do ANYTHING until I press another button or press another direction. Likewise, if I were to release the button and the direction at the same time, the adapter would hang up, either holding down the direction for almost a full two seconds, or holding down the button until I do a new input. It’s a REAL shame since that’s sort of what I bought this for.
However, although they are rare, keyboard players like FuriousKeys would have a freaking field day with this adapter. Those issues dmauro listed do not apply to keyboards. In fact, since you can map any of the Xbox 360’s buttons to any key on the keyboard, you can actually play any fighting game you want on the Xbox 360 with a keyboard! That means you can play BlazBlue, King of Fighters XII, Street Fighter IV, and all that other good stuff with a keyboard if you really wanted to!
And also, this thing works flawlessly for First-Person Shooter games. As long as you’ve got yourself a mouse and keyboard that work on this thing (sorta a gamble as well, since they don’t have a compatibility list anywhere ), you can use it to play Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, or whatever you like using a mouse and keyboard.
Long story short, this is REALLY not a good buy if you want to play fighting games since fighters tend to have corresponding directions and buttons overlapping all the time. However, this is the best thing you could possibly buy if you wanted to play FPSes or anything else with a keyboard and mouse.
