May 31, Sunday Fuddruckers HYPE! Tourney (SF4/MVC2/HDR/SF3S) Console Tourney

Never bet against Ricky.

Word, if I am ever in a big match with Ricky even I have money on Ricky.

hehe…

i promise you ill never get hit by that move ever again.

Lol sorry that u lost 20, should of gone with my ryu but guess i’ll save that for the next event.

tips for next month:

  1. dedicate one ps3 and one xbox TE sticks and leave it by the tournament bracket. even though everyone’s responsible to bring their own sticks, it will help out especially in situations when people have to play on machines they aren’t familiar with or have controllers for at the moment. you can make sure whoever borrows it is financially responsible even if he gets shanked on the way back to the bracket and gets robbed.

  2. the idea of playing people on same console only is pretty ridiculous to implement in a tournament this big. there really is no fair way to settle this unless the entire tournament was run on single console, but that will make the tournament much harder to organize and tons of people with unusable sticks.

i know it might seem like BS to some (especially gozhard), but you have to realize most people are not that hell-bent on playing on different setups. out of 128 people that entered, only ~5 people were adament about the setup and that from an efficiency stand-point (that i could tell), this option is not something worth pursuing. i am sure nobody wants to piss anyone off or have people leave sour taste in their mouth after a great event, so please voice your opinions but majority will definitely rule. sorry about your situation though.

  1. more chairs and more alcohol

  2. maybe a break between regular tourney and top8 matches evo-style so people have time to rest and setup for hype matches… most people would be watching at this point and this is where #3 would come in handy.

  3. maybe a board that can hold the bracket instead of the table. hang it on a wall? i think it can help with crowding issues around the table.

  4. if you are playing multiple games, please let the other tourney organizers know that you are playing or about to… there were many times we called players who were in the middle of their games, and that can be very distracting. we didn’t know and it’d be best for everyone if at least the sf4 organizers were notifed.

  5. if you are playing casuals, let it be known somehow. i know many of the machines might have been open at one point or another, and seeing how there are 10 machines that having 1 for casuals might seem ‘ok’, but it really does hold up the line especially if it’s one of the machines that’s not abundant (ps3 vs xbox i mean). please support and either refrain from playing casuals all-together until top 8, or make sure nobody is waiting on you.

  6. more hype. seeing how fast a tourney COULD be run, maybe you guys can set up random ass side-events like a 2v2 exhibition, or a wild money-match/grudge-matches, or whatnot.

even though this tournament wasn’t perfect, please look for the positives that ramin/nima/vito/everyone that brought setups and tvs/big event/people that drove hella far made possible. it was a great success in my eyes and it sounds like it’ll only get better in the next two months.

btw, this is one of the first tourneys that i’ve attended that everyone signed up with their real names. i have no idea who’s who. hahahahahah.

Great tourney…I saw a lot of old faces and met many new ones. I enjoyed doing commentary on the mic with Armon aka BLK_BROTHA. Cheers and much respect to ALL of the players and SRK Staff. Let’s keep the SF community alive despite the death of arcade play. Peace.

-DR.B of RICH KID ACADEMY / STAR TRAK ENTERTAINMENT

no doubt about it bay-b. Doc-Bizzle, holdin it down for the Rich Kids Academy HOLLA.

hey we’ve been fighting the FG industry for too many years. so i just wanted to say fight on and fight hard.

peace out cUDDY:cool:

Great tourney guys, and it ran silky smooth. Nima, Ramin and Vito awesome job at running this thing. Also to all the HDR guys Nate, Jeff, Jason, and rest of you guys thanks for the great games, and lets continue HDR support for Nor-Cal.

Also, thanks to everyone who donated money towards my new stick. We raised 45 bucks, which helps towards building my new stick.

See you guys at the next one.

Man I gotta start thinking before I talk

The Power of negotiation!

Thanks Ricky$$$
Never bet against Ricky you might Gozhomeless

hahahah that was you?! amazing.

sure, hopefully i can make it to the next fudd as well.

i’m totally cool with you breaking that promise

LB You were the wind beneath my wings and i would like to thank you personally for everything you did to help make this tourney a success, this is the first tourney i actually got to SEE any of the matches thanks to you. now to address issues for my part:

One. Heckling. Sure, whatever trash talking is all in good fun but seriously if i hear it getting personal or malicious you’ll just politely be DQ’d i’ll give ya back your 5$ and you can take the time in between tourneys to level up your manners. I had no real idea this was happening. Sorry.

Two. Systems. I understand frustrations of players who have certain system requirements, if not on a personal level, as i suck equally on any system with any controller. I would advise you to find an adapter if they make such things, or … well… i dont have a solution, i do not have the wherewithal to solve it nor really the inclination to, if someone could suggest an idea that ISNT “Run two tourneys, one for Xbox and one for 360” im open to it.

Three. Breaks. Yes i think this is flat out a great idea. Time permitting it will be implemented . Time permitting. That, Time, and the players fun are my only real concerns, we had the time this time, we will have it next time. Speaking of, we will NOT be running the last 8 matches one at a time next time as we will NOT have time to see them all on bigscreen unless we get a sponsor “Winkwink” or more people want to volenteer to bring projectors. Then again, i may cave and buy one, who knows…
But i tried not to run people back to back, or if i did i at least asked if they needed a rest.

Four. More alcohol. Yes. Beer takes too long. Need Booze please.

Five. A board is a good idea but i’d rather people just didnt crowd the table. Sure come up and see what you need to see but if you are at the table for more than a few minutes you’re just lurking and breathing my air and blocking the fan. Move. Also if i find out who kept dropping bombs at the table i will fill your car with the contents of an outhouse… i have the resources to do this… you have been warned…

We are getting much better at this, more advice is always welcome please submit all positive constructive critisizm to us on the forums, all negative crap keep to PM if possible. This event is just starting to take off, i vow i will arrange it so that i do not need to close admission soon, everyone who arrives on time should have the opportunity to compete. I love you all for this feeling of belonging that a group as diverse and committed as this gives.

Guaranteed improvements for next tourney. Air Circulation. I Promise.

Vito

I wish you would have received a bit more. What happened when you tested your current stick is it working? Thanks for helping run it even though you probably didn’t know what you were doing. And to ram, nate, and whoever else helped me. HD remix finished so quickly because of you guys, so thanks.

Shhhhhhhhhhh.

 ggs to all and fun times. I did horrible in the tourny and then great in casuals :sad::sad:. I’m definitely going to start playing a lot more and I’m going to do much better next time.

lol yeah!!! all i have to do was ULTRA!!!
and i fuck up!!!

(rufus vs rufus)
rick o beat my rufus now i have to go in to traning mode and learn how to counter fatman Fufus

Results are in the results thread.

Yea, the stick works fine, the problem was game related. If you assign to many inputs for your control, the game actually disables some of the buttons. Basically, you shouldn’t have all 8 buttons assigned to things, keep it as 6 and everything runs fine.

Good work on running the brackets though dude. We got done pretty quickly so we could run the area as a SF4/HDR casual station.

GOZHOME
LOL
Norcal is too funny

so i guess its not just the blanka forum. people don’t like you even outside of it, even in person! still not easing on the shit talking, huh?

good job on getting 25th and backing up your blanka. tournaments are different than casual and online play, isn’t it? you really need to stop making excuses for your poor play. i had someone watch your match while you were out there, and said you almost lost to a little 10 year old kid using ryu, hahaha. what do i know, i’m just a nobody.

25th; it’s like getting 2nd to last, haha.

ggs to all the placers. ricky still reigns supreme!

can’t wait for you guys to roll down to SBO quals!

Yeah great event overall. Things ran incredibly smoothly, and I am relieved to hear that we will have some circulation next time. It was straight stale sweaty funk up in there.

GGs to everyone I played, and especially Anthony and Kaiser. Next time I’ll have to come stronger.

See you guys at Munchies, MUGA, Ramins, RAMnation, and where ever else until the next Fuddruckers.
