Maho, that was a great stream yesterday! (solo 3 char tournament) Tell all people involved they did a great job producing it. I appreciate seeing the actual BRACKETS updated during the tournament (the link in stream’s chat was very helpful). Ken Bogard’s commentary is the best. Anyone’s commentary has lag built in, and they never really know what’s going on in the players’ minds but you don’t need to understand a word of French to know he’s keeping pace with the action all the same.
btw I have a question about how double brackets work… if players happen to have the records that Damdai did with Kusumondo, they don’t share 2nd place (considering who each player lost to). There’s always a tie for 5th but in the case that happened, no tie for 2nd?

As a Canadian I speak a little bit of french, so I probably understood more of the commentary than the average American, and I can confirm that Ken Bogard’s commentary is second only to Nuki. So hype!

I used a RGB splitter, a CGA to VGA converter, a VGA capture card, some cables,connectors and a lot of soldering, i actually got the first two only two days before the event and wasn’t even sure it would work as arcade games can be troublesome sometimes.
There’s a tie for the 5th and 7th places because the two players don’t play each other in the losers bracket as they lost to different people, Damdai won over Kusumondo in losers final the second time they played together to get in grand final, that’s why he’s not tied for 2nd with Kusumondo.
Thank you. Double brackets are a big time investment, although it was great to see so many great matches. Is it correct to say that this is an example of a double bracket not being accurate after 1st place? Before, I thought that it is always accurate for at least 1st and 2nd place. I don’t think the Challonge bracket is up right now, but I think Kusumondo and Damdai lost to the same person (Kurahashi).
Also, in the next tournament with Max who played Cammy, is that the first time in the history of mankind that a Cammy player won a tournament? Cause for celebration!
Kusumondo and Damdai indeed both lost to Kurahashi, the first in winner’s final and the second in grand final, Damdai lost to Kusumondo 2/3 in winner’s semi and then won 3/2 in loser’s final, if you look at the score they are even 5/5 but the rules of double elimination make the second battle between two players matter more.
One solution would be using double elimination with the continuation rule that MLG used recently, but most players don’t like it and also it can make very long sets happen which can be a problem, standard double elimnation may not be the best but it’s accepted by almost everyone.
