WIRELESS CONTROLLER POLICY:
Wireless controllers MUST be disconnected with a USB player upon completion of the match.
Dualshock 4 controllers must be deleted from the Playstation 4 devices list upon completion of the match. There is no way for someone to both disconnect a Bluetooth controller AND delete it from the device menu. When the controller is disconnected, it will still be on the device menus.

If you have a wired arcade stick, please help reduce the problem of wireless controller interference by following these steps after a match:

  1. Go the the PS4 main menu and go to settings
  2. Go to devices -> Bluetooth devices
  3. Delete any and all Dualshock 4 controllers from the list>
If both players are using PS4 wired arcade sticks, this step is not necessary.

We’ve graciously allowed players to continue using wireless controllers despite having interference problems in the past. Although we currently have no plans to ban wireless controllers like other tournaments, we will be much more strictly enforcing this policy at this and future events. If you interrupt a match with your wireless controllers because you didn’t follow policy, you’re subject to be DQed from the tournament.

FAQ:

Q: Am I allowed to bring a setup for casuals?
A: Absolutely! Follow the same registration guidelines for MAXOUT competitors and feel free to place your setup in the approved space for free play casuals. Please note that bringing a setup that is not utilized for tournament use does not guarantee you a venue fee discount.

Q: How do you handle registration and bracketing? It’s changed a few times…
A: At this point we’ve gone back to in person registration with cash. We are also using Challonge and not Smash.gg at this time.

Q: Can I bring outside food and drink into the venue?
A: Yes. However, we would encourage you to support the venue. Novastar has a wide variety of soda, energy drinks, and snacks, including drinks like BAWLS which are very hard to find in most places.

Q: I have a question that’s not answered here!
A: Feel free to post in the event page comments and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
