Pretty interesting, today my computation theory professor mentioned P vs. NP as one of the most important unsolved debates in the math community. Proved (dohoho) him wrong.

I’ve read about the Millennium Prize Problems, and I’m wondering why Goldbach’s conjecture isn’t a part of the list. That problem has been around for a couple hundred years now. The problem itself sounds simple, but proving it is seemingly impossible.
Story seems like a fake, and the question hasn’t been solved yet.
I’m going to assume that he doesn’t have a computer since he lives in a cockroach infested apartment. P vs. NP is a computer science problem. The first and only (so far) Millennium Prize was awarded 5 days ago.

This thread lacks Pride and Integrity. I have full respect for Perelman. He did something impossible with no funds, no team and no one to tell him he was wrong. Seems very old world if you ask me.

He proved the Poincare Conjecture, not P/NP as someone already mentioned. I don’t know if he ever explicitly said why he won’t accept the prize, but I heard he was disgusted that the Chinese mathematicians who fleshed out the proof apparently got a lot of credit for it. That doesn’t make much sense since he published his papers with a basically complete sketch of the proof, giving him clear precedent, but who knows what his reasons are.
At any rate, he’ll be remembered for a long time and live with his mom. Most of you are at least 1 for 2 lol.
