I know Urien can’t quickstand reversal EX tackle it cuz I did it during arcade casuals 2 weeks ago and it was blocked. I just tested all of Q’s reversal dash punches after quickstand in OE and they were not able to punish it, aside from when she threw Q near the corner.
Cool stuff. Cancelling into SA2 works as well but it took me a few goes to get it before Necro’s super flash in training mode, 360+P would be much easier in a real match.
If SA1 is viable against anyone I would’ve thought it would be Oro. The reason being that on parry you can hyperbomb all his pokes at max distance. I feel this is significant because Alex can’t usually get more than a sweep at this range and it can be really tough to get in through the air.
I tested stungun on Hugo a while ago and I don’t recall any set-ups that Hugo couldn’t jab out of.
Hm, too much online play, i start to think dumb stuff really works, that’s sad.
edit:
This may work to get the full charge?
Get thrown, up (to reset charge bar), start charge, down (quick roll), continue charge, dash punch.
If the slash elbow hits he can’t
Hi ESN, yes you can get full charge which is what i was saying in my post above. I did quickstand reversal EX tackle w Urien, and quickstand reversal Lp, Mp, Hp, & EX Dash Punch with Q. But in this application they did not punish, except when Elena threw them near the corner.
When should Dudley use SA1?
Missed your post
Thx for all the tests!
Victoly uses it vs Gouki. Maybe other characters but I don’t know. If Dud blocks any tatsu, reversal SA1 does close to 50% damage ><
Whichever matchup you feel where you think you need that extra bit of damage to win. They’re both very useful Supers. Only problems are that it’s not as easy to juggle with as SA3 and the range isn’t quite as great, but other than that they work just about the same. Plus what pherai said.
On block?
Everybody should be able to recover quick enough out of blockstun to jab Alex.
One thing that’s pretty fun: grabbing Oro with Stungun after you block a chicken stomp.
Tried it again on OE and emul and i’m positive the Q glitch works against stungun on OE but definitely not on emul.
Q crouching, Alex doing HK slash elbow xx LP stungun, Q back to neutral during superfreeze:
- on OE, stungun will whiff
- on emul, stungun will catch Q
Can someone else test this?
With OE being based on the “tweaked” PS2 version, it’s not really a surprise if it has some stuff that doesn’t work on the arcade version.
Don’t you think it’s a bit easy to say this when, afaik, there is no stuff that doesn’t work on arcade, beside Yang SA3 glitch and a few bugs corrected?
I just thought of this: Possible to use Stungun on wakeup to counter Oro’s SA2 unblockable?
EX Lariat.
that also loses against either LP or MP SA3 (don’t remember which, I did this test years ago)
I can’t check on emu right now, but I noticed on OE that the duck -> neutral also makes MP Stungun whiff and that you can also use this very easily from standing HK Elbow Slash hit or block too. If standing (hit or block is irrelevant), just hold down as soon as the super freeze appears then release down when Alex is at the apex of the jump.
Coming down would be the biggest problem, considering how fast Alex finishes the jump. He’s bound to hit the remaining SA2, which Oro could possibly capitalize with another chicken juggle opportunity after landing. Then again all of this is theoretical coming from me, it’d be cool if someone could test it out.
He can get out of the Kuroda corner setup(chicken juggle->reset cr.HP->SA2->HK->EX Booger into high/low) with it, though.
My test:
Crouch block FK Slash xx LP Stungun = EX Lariat strikes Alex
Crouch hit FK Slash xx LP Stungun = EX Lariat strikes Alex
Stand block FK Slash xx LP Stungun = EX Lariat strikes Alex
Stand hit FK Slash xx LP Stungun = EX Lariat strikes Alex
Crouch block FK Slash xx MP Stungun = EX Lariat escapes under Alex
Crouch hit FK Slash xx MP Stungun = EX Lariat strikes Alex (I believe I got an underneath escape once but I discount it as I wasn’t paying full attention and can’t recreate it)
Stand block FK Slash xx MP Stungun = EX Lariat escapes under Alex
Stand hit FK Slash xx MP Stungun = EX Lariat escapes under Alex
I tested this on OE and you’re wrong, it strikes Alex out of LP and escapes underneath MP. It’s either a peculiarity of OE compared to other versions , or you just weren’t fast enough on the EX Lariat (Hugo visually beats Stungun really cleanly with it). Which version did you originally test this on?
