After hard knock down dj.hk vs many wakeups can have similar effects vs shotos and most all character types. Crossing up landing frontside etc, faking cross landing frontside etc., I forgot to turn inputs on, I can assure you however using dj.hk near what Ive shown will get awesome results when mixed in properly with challenging opponents on wakeup.

I feel like I’m missing something obvious. What do I do against those long blockstrings? Where’s the opening and what do I do with it?
Well if it’s really a blockstring (it usually isn’t) then you can’t do anything. Sakura has excellent frame traps but most Sakura players online are pretty braindead. Typical advice is to keep blocking until she’s too far away to use another attack and try to get out, but often I just EX Kongo after a Light Tatsu and she kills herself.
Sakura sucks at getting in on Gouken these days. Save some meter for EX Tatsu and throw fireballs and wait.
Thanks – yeah it’s not an actual blockstring (sorry), but it’s hard for me to tell when the pressure has an opening.
Her lp can be chained and it’s +4 on block. So anything she does that’s at most is +4 then she is in a true block string.
Her hurricane kicks are tricky b/c the looks as if she shouldn’t have frame advantage but if you are hit with a later active frame then it can vary. For example her lk version is listed as 0 on block. but if she hits with a later frame the data can change. On block Frame 1=0, Frame 2=+1, Frame 3=+2, Frame 4=+5, Frame 6=+6. And they also change at the same rate for the attack on hit. That’s why if she hits further out or meaty she can perform certain combos that she normally shouldn’t.
You can kongo or EX Tatsu the rest of her crap. She can’t just mindless push buttons once Gouken has meter.
dont forget that deceptive cr lk that will about 99.98% link to srk and ex srks from way the hell out…and tatsus for the reasons listed above also…
to open her up effectively you may find yourself at about 1/2 screen away in zone hoping she tries to hop your hadous, nj that and then proceed w wkaeup pressre until she has meter
