far st lk is made for stuffing lows. Check out the hitboxes on the thing. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if Hakans slide has shitty hitboxes.
So I played a hakam last night didn’t played this match up before. (If I’ve seen 5 hakam online that’s a lot) and we played like 20 matches and I don’t know how to approach this guy. His focus cancel into everything is super dope and knock him down to do flips is a no show, it work work on him, his SPD range is absurd and no fireballs is almost useless. My only way was trying to throw him and command dive kick was decent anything else was very much useless
His best stuff is only doable while he’s oiled. So do your best to keep him from getting oiled up for free. Fireballs are fairly pointless unless you are setting up lots of fakes, so don’t back off to throw plasma. All that does is gives him room to oil up.
I’ve had the most success with an airborne offensive strategy. Hakans are used to owning the skies with good buttons, but j.lp and flip parry really throw a wrench in that.
Airtight strings are a must as well as kongo reactions when he focuses. He can be beasty but his wake up is pretty weak, abuse it by safe jumping, neutral jumping, and generally not being a sitting duck.
Throwing out hk late in your jump fakes out grabbers who think they need to stand and block…theres your back throw.

use an OS Ex Tatsu instead of back throw the second time

End all combos with HK tatsu, run out the oil time. Denjin helps to deal with focus, and discourages full screen oil (assuming he doesnt EX it). This is one of goukens more offensive based matchups since its pretty difficult to zone hakan if he has oil (and you dont really want to zone him if he does have oil, you want to abuse him up close). You can low profile hakans uncrouchable oil dive setups with cr.short.

also, I fully support your hakan stuff. Also, if you reset hakan just right before he has u2, he can’t do anything but block since he’s very wide and doesn’t have reversals.
