Early or Late?
early, i saw the ex bingo coming so i activated ultra 1 and ate ex bingo. fucking move’s invincibility is all the way start to finish lol i knew the properties of bingo but didn’t realize how good ex was.
Oh hell yeah. I tried OS’ing EX Tatsu on a safe dive kick once and ate EX Bingo. When I played Akuma I would OS Demon…EX Bingo wins. I did it like 4 times too because I thought I was doing something wrong lol. A somewhat late Shin Sho beats it though
It amazes me when characters on the game have moves like that wish so much reward on the front end and they are only -8 at the most of the back end. Then we have our tatsu… no invincibility at start and - forever on block or whiff.,
So much reward?
You need at least 3 bars to do some real damage after EX Bingo, unless the opponent is in the corner.
You don’t even need to OS Cody as his wake up options are terrible.
Yeah but the point is he has a crazy invincible move. It doesnt matter if he can follow it up or not. Its one of the most invincible moves in the game, this and EX Green Hand, and is only -8 with pushback while GH is -9 with no push back. Thats crazy to me. And you can freaking fadc ultra in the corner. Im not complaining because I dont have matchup issues with Cody lol…but I’ve seen some abuse that hell out of this move.
I don’t know if Gouken can punish it with anything more than a sweep, but most characters can do it without much problem.
Gouken players that I play often jump it and get crazy damage from that.
Yeah thats all we can do is sweep, which personally I dont even mind. Dont most Cody’s use it as a frame trap though? Whatever Gouken is holding up while getting hit is asking for trouble.
You can punish with crouch fierce and get a combo from there.
meh…very spacing dependent. You can punish with cr.hp but if Cody is far enough you cannot combo with anything. Because of the pushback of the move I would prefer sweep to immediately take the initiative away from him. Sidenote: The internet takes away so many of Gouken’s punishes simply because his are on the slow side and the internet eats frames. Fuck lag with a greasy, nut-flavored toilet brush.
ALSO THE KIND OF TV YOU HAVE. NUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE THE MOST EXPENSIVE SONY, SAMMY, OR SHARP DOESNT MEAN ITS DELAYED-INPUT FREE
It may be spacing dependent but it’s a punish nonetheless. In my experience, I land crouch fierce more often than I do with sweep.
Hmmmm…this may be the placement of your hands or the way you have your fingers over the buttons, you react faster with punches…both moves have 6 frame start up. I’m the opposite…I’m a sweep machine lol.
What I meant was that the situations where I can land cr.fierce into a combo occurs more often than when I’m forced with just sweep as an option lol. Maybe its the Cody players I tend to play with? They often play aggressively and somewhat risky. EX Bingo beats out all of Gouken’s wakeup options but if i just block on my wakeup and they don’t have meter to focus cancel, thats when I will usually land cr.fierce.
funny thing…since Ive been forced to relearn on pad I experimented w swapping rh and hp and found when I opted for sweep but had cr fp pop out , from default sweep positioning, I was getting a shit load of counter hit openers/safe pokes instead of nothing/hard knock poking with cr rh …interesting…
It depends on how the Cody player spaced it out, much like what we do with palm. It hit’s on the later frames and the push back pushes you out of range of most attacks. It’s punishable as it should be, but what can they reach you with in time?
What a pain. Got to play a great cody on ranked match and happens to be the same cody I’ll be playing a FT5 against in 15mins. Gotta hurry and finish reading this thread lol.
My lowdown on Cody.
Meter Watch
[]Cody without meter - Zone and attack sparingly.
[]Cody with meter - Safe jump and bait him with Bingo …make them waste meter.
[]Cody with ultra meter - Safe jump on both and wait till it’s finished and PUNISH! If U2, parrying during the string of hits.
Normals to use
[]st.Far HK - Punishing Criminal Upper!
[]st.Close HK - as anti air or MEATY. Nice active frames so use it!
[]cr.HK - sweep him like there’s no tomorrow
[]cr.LK - space right, MEATY then LP Palm :).
[]All MPs - Frame Advantage for Close and Far is nice to push them away. Punishing Criminal Upper!
[]All MK - fast normal if st.Close, anti-airs for cr. and st.Far!
Other recommendations
[]U1- Just to kill him
[]Sweep and Throw him
[]Destroy him and keep him down as his wakeup game is weak
[]Watch out for bad spray if you knockdown is not hard
[]Having SUPER stocked is quite nice. 3 Frame Startup!
[]He thrives on Counter-Hits so don’t crouch-tech too often
[]Zoning? Hell yeah but careful of the Ruff Kicks

Bingo!

I just fought a ‘Grand Master’ Cody, seemed like his main character. 6500pp.
Well suffice to say I got trounced.
So I’m looking for any useful tips. (I might upload the video sometime.)
-
Basically when he got in he was a Counter-hit, Tech baiting beast/Throw beast.
If he touched me with a single normal he’d get a full combo and I’d be back in the loop. -
So obviously I wanted to keep him out. Not bloody easy!
I noticed he used his Focus Attack alot at it’s max range to attack at lvl 1 or 2 and Fwd.Dash and normal me. (He’s in. Return to step 1.)
He also REALLY used his FA well to take advantage of Goukens lack of multi fireballs or normals.
Even a cr.MP > fireball, he would just FA the fireball.
It really did eliminate me trying to play footsies with him; far.st.HK, cr.LK, far.st.HP, far.st.MK etc. -
He never really got me with EX Ruffian Kick. But BOY did he use Zonk effectively.
Normal Zonks to go through fireballs, EX Zonk as crazily invincible move. (Are any of his Zonks punishable?)
It basically appears that I couldn’t fireballs him or footsie him, and fighting in close quarters he won easily.
I basically went into every round with "Okay, I know I’ve got to keep him out."
But trying my best,he’d just do FA 1 little fireball from a blockstring, zonk invincible through and be all over me.
I’m heading into Training Mode to try stuff.
But, you know, feel my pain!
(How would you say the matchup is?)
