Being on the cutting edge of gouken means playing risky or rather get better at reading and studyingopponents reactions to goukens abilities over the years and tens of thousands of matches played. Great point about crossup vs electricity… u and I and others know that was about a 30% success rate but blankas aren’t used to constant on top presh… I would be makin the same calls…if my internet wasn’t sketchy right now id watch the rest and comment a bit more…good shit toof!
I’m currently fighting a Blanka that refuses to do any offense. Just sits in the corner and reacts to everything. I don’t think there is an actual way to beat this shit.
I just alt-tabbed out and am posting this now. He’s still in there sitting in the corner I’m sure.
I’m being serious though. If Blanka refuses to move, is there any legit strategy for getting in on him? I tried slowly inching forward and waiting for slide but he would just sit and wait and react to any movement in range with a Blanka Ball. If I jumped it was rising Blanka Ball. If I tried to cross up it was electricity… I throw fireballs, he slides under and sits and waits again.
WTF. Why is this character in this game?
Gouken can’t legitimately open up Blanka, he has to gimmick in with demon flip, or attempt to dash in.
Is there no more a gimmicky main than blanka?

Gouken can’t legitimately open anyone up in general.
But Tech, if you have a Blanka sitting in the corner. He should be the one feeling pressure. Any blocked ball is liable for full corner punish, and Gouken’s punish damage in the corner should make anyone sweat. You need to read the opponent accordingly and try to bait a ball. Of course keep up ball and rainbow ball in mind so you’re going to have to dance between the space where you can full punish a blocked blanka ball and dash to punish an escape attempt. Also be aware that you might tread on the lp ball whiff gimmick spacing when around the area to punish an escape attempt.
You really have to treat Blanka with more patience than the Guile matchup (if you were playing a non fb char v guile). Yea, the Blanka matchup is more or less that retarded.

someone asked how to open blanka up, I said you have to gimmick (cause gouken doesn’t have the right tools to open blanka up), you responded defensively/sarcastically.
Gouken can play the neutral game with Blanka, even though it favors Blanka, but once Blanka establishes the lifelead he has to legitimately mess up for gouken to do much of anything as there aren’t legimate ways to open Blanka up.

[]Blanka without meter - I have to say, just attack Blanka with no remorse when they have no meter. Sometimes don’t fear with a hit from them when they are at this state. They don’t combo as well with out a bar or 2. So, just get him like a Boss!
[]Blanka with meter - Bait him if it’s one bar but more… distance away! Lame Lame Lame! Especially when you have life lead.
[]Blanka with ultra meter - Depends which ultra. If U1, try to parry if close (MP Parry or EX), test it in the lab. However, if you can cross over with touching him with Tatsu or Demon Flip, DO IT! If U2, safe jump and wait till it’s finished and PUNISH!
