I’ve FINALLY came up with something. I lost to two Blankas this weekend at NEC, Insaynne and Flashhouse because of this move. Not again. Check it out.
I like it but if the swampcat does anything else you would get beat. I guess you just need to know your opponent.
Every Blanka I know abuses this move. They rarely use ball because it has little pushback and they know its Denjin after that. They know we cant catch ex rb so they abuse it
Im not saying do it every single time on their wake but when you know they’re gonna do it you can use it. Plus you dont even have to fadc in the corner. You can do raw Denjin or Shin Sho. You KNOW every Blanka you’ve ever played, when they’re cornered use this move to teleport out.
DJ.MP also should work when placed just like that fb. good lab work bredren…

If he uses EX Rainbow to try attacking you cross-up like that, can’t you just Focus it and smash him on landing?
On reversal Blanka would get armor break property, so anything based on the focus system loses. (Kongo, Air Parry, Focus)… wake up and non-wake up.
If I remember right, EX Rainbow on its own breaks armor. Regular Rainbow can be focused.
edit: Never mind. Turns out it’s all focusable.
EX does not break armor. It only does when its a reversal. All specials in the game regular or ex become armor breaking on reversal.
Thats why its such a problem. You cant focus it on his wake if he does it.
I should know this, but…if you don’t press any buttons on his wake up, is it still a reversal within those defined wake up frames regardless?

This is what happened to me all NEC. So I came up with the punish. It seems like I was the only one having issues though because no one really responded.
Not entirely true. If you reversal with a projectile, even when ultra, it will never break armour.
projectiles and unique special moves (i.e. non-attack specials) would be the exception to that rule.
This fight go all out rush down when Blanka has no meter especially the first round and try to end it quick haha
yuuuuuuuup …empty jump in to Cl St hk beats ex ball and DJ mk is the guillotine to watch for.

My strategy to deal with Blankas is to walk forward and cr.Block.
To keep close enough so that LP.Blanka Balls hit you and you can punish. This will also deal with Slides for the punish.
And if he tries to jump, Anti Air him with a Tatsu (LK or EX)
It’s when they get a chance to begin hopping about, doing lightning it becomes hard.
