Jab cancel into LP palm probably the best idea here for you.
be sure to consider your own idea too, if it’s any good.
I was just thinking of something to “mash”, when you’re suddenly up close and need to just “jab” away. Clearly that doesn’t work, so as I was saying, I’ll try to remember to go with cr. LK after the first jab.
For whatever reason, when I try to just do lp xx lp.palm in training, I just get a lp chain. I think I may be either hitting the inputs too fast or too slow but at any rate I don’t ever really do lp to lp.palm.
What about c.Mk -> Palm? C.mk is 4 frame start up, same as jab, better hit box and the lesser range probably doesn’t matter.
Did you try to neg. edge it??
I’ve also found it to be considerably easier doing it from cr. lp instead of standing.
Corner Blanka this is very effective
This is my go to for a quick one two with a palm. If I’m jabbing, I’m looking for the 4 or 5 hits string and then maybe focusing, jumping back or backdashing to get away from whatever cheap 3 frame reversal is coming my way.
Okay, so I got cheesed out twice by Ultra 2 recently. Both times he backed all the way to the other side of the screen and did it. The first time, I jumped to avoid the first blast and ex flipped as I landed. Blanka did his second shockwave and I flew right into it, dying just before hitting him with the kick. Second time, I just tried to block and got chipped out. Do you have to ex flip immediately after the screen freeze to hit him out of it?
You have to mash out ex demonflip kick during the freeze to punish both versions of ultra II. If you don’t have meter a regular demonflip slide works also. If you’re looking for more meterless damage HP palm works but the timing is trickier. You have to wait until blanka slams his hands on the ground before inputing the hp palm. You should glide through his first electricity and hit him before he does the second one.
if I’m standing next to a blank whos spamming electricity isn’t there anything I can punish him with?
You can try low kongo but sometimes it whiffs, depends on how close. A step back and cr.lk will usually slip in.
backdash sweep
Can’t you get hit by the electricity between the two dash motions, when you go to neutral? If not, this is great!
I mean, if I’m at sweep range and blanka does it to where its not hitting me. I end up just waiting for him to finish but I’m assuming its not safe for him to do that right? I think I tried sweeping once and got shocked.
like go practice the spacing, it’s not really difficult. Also blanka can mash electricity for 99 seconds if he wants. waiting for it to end might not work.
Ves, Gouken’s backdash is 25 frames, are you sure Gouken can backdash in time and still punish with a sweep? I feel like raw elec is not something decent blankas do besides the very occasional gimmick to try to stuff a normal, and even then, they wouldn’t leave it out for than a second sans mindgames. With that in mind Im not sure backdash sweep is a reliable punish. Maybe Im wrong though.
I personally pretty much ultra on reaction (Not Gouken’s U2, U1 and just like a universal answer when I mess with other chars) on any blanka who is willing to whiff elec for more than a second trying to snag a normal. Hasn’t failed me since and makes them learn pretty goddamn quick.
if they are just mashing it in your face, why not?
Also why use u1 vs. Blanka? U2 actually gives you additional options vs. him.
Well I was just saying that U2 was not applicable for that kind of punish. But U1 was. I never use U1 anymore.
This. U2 punishes all versions of Blanka Ball I believe. U1 was the best choice pre 2012, but now that we have control over the speed it’s basically the only choice. Unless of course, you know the player behind the Blanka.
MP Palm punishes standing blocked lp/mp balls I believe, fierce should punish fp? I forget whether ex can be punished on standing block.
Diagonal jump back roundhouse works well against close jump-in shenanigans that aren’t on your wake up as Gouken. Simultaneously jump back and press roundhouse early, and you can hit high above your head which works well against Blanka’s high, but narrow jump in.
ex/lp ball spaced correctly is safe on block from everything except u2
