You say you can’t punish the ex blanka ball with palm but you can as long as you block it standing. I try to bait this out often.

It must be hard to properly space the ex one because I punish it often enough. I do whiff once in a blue moon but not enough to make me stop trying to palm him.
99% of Blanka players are terrible and don’t even know how ball hitboxes work.

I don’t understand how spacing effects a blocked blankaball. I mean, I get it that they don’t want the corner to be involved, but doesn’t a blocked ex-ball bounce away the same distance regardless of start distance?

I don’t think people do enough hitbox analysis in general.
Boy, I’m not sure that little bit would make a difference with Gouken’s mp.palm punish. It doesn’t look to me like the punish is distance limited, but time limited, hence why the need for the standing block. I’ve never seen the punish miss as long as you block standing and get the “reversal” alert.
The hitbox also grows and changes sizes.
This is like Blanka101 and he needs this technique to effectively fight a couple of characters like Fei and Cody, which turns ultra punishes and rekka/ruffian kick punishes into whiffs.
Like just agree with me cause there really isn’t an argument on how this works.
Look, I understand the concept now. I’m just saying that it doesn’t seem to be effective against this punish. I’ve never seen the punish fail, so you can’t really be surprised that I’m skeptical.

I thought I’d give some insight on how Blanka works because it’s a very tough matchup for Gouken, but you were skeptical after saying you didn’t understand.
I don’t do labwork, make graphs, and write explanations on this forum for any reason other than to be helpful. It’s just obnoxious when people are questioning things without doing their own research and labwork after I answer a question they don’t know the answer to.
If you’re going to namecall I’ll leave you to your ignorance and let you get blown up by Blanka.

All I said this wasn’t up for debate essentially and you called me a prick after I did you a favor. Why?
Stop acting “concerned” for my growth as a person when you’re obviously being insincere/sarcastic. If you think saying there was no debate to be had is equal to your current behavior all i can say is that you have issues and need to grow up.
I didn’t call him “boy”. That was an interjection similar to “hmm” or “interesting”. It’s generally used as a skeptical but respectful interjection at the beginning of a sentence.
I didn’t call him a prick for “correcting” me. I asked a question about blankaball bounce back, and he gave an interesting hitbox answer. I thought it was going well until the “just agree with me” bs. The tone of the “Just agree with me” line is the prickish part. Having punished hundreds of blanka balls successfully and never seeing this hitbox-wiff work against this particular punish, I was both skeptical but clearly not saying he was making shit up. And he chose to respond with his dismissive, condescending tone.
I don’t like seeing that brand of condescending bully that some people tend to act like when they think they’ve somehow earned being never questioned about anything. And I’ll call it out as I see fit.
