i dont know of any option select that hits a backwards teleport. i use hk gouken flip in case they teleport forwards, and if they always go backwards then i just see a teleport and them do a fierce palm
In 2012 Denjin should work and could become Ultra of choice in this matchup, especially against air fireballs.
i meant an option select done after a hardbknockdown durin a hk gouken flip dive kick which makes a dp whiff. i think walk up meaty is too risky for me
well the new speed of the denjin might be able catch both of them with autocorrect.
I was replying to whoever asked about te 70% teleport akuma but still, it’s good for when you have akuma cornered.
I don’t think there are any option to punish a backward teleport beside reading it, dash back and walks forward for a sweep.
Hi all,
I decided to go to the training room and learn this matchup because i loose to much against Akumas.
It inspired me this:

Hope you like it
Really neat stuff, dude!
One mistakes, you can’t backdash the palm if he is Option selecting. You will get swept.
sh*t, i was sure he was doing me something like this, but i was enable to reproduce it.
Thanks, so we can’t even backdash
Nope, you have to sit there and take it or do a wild guess and pray he did throw. Good news is that things will be changing in 2012, bad news is you just did this video. in 2012 the 2 extra frames should allow for you to use c.lk without getting hit after he forward throw palms you.
vs the air fireball sweep setup in the beggining, have you tried mp kongo>lp kongo? should deflect the higher then lower no prob.
vs crossup tatsu have you tried cr.mk, or cr.lk? cr.mk seems like it would be low enough and cr.lk im almost certain will do the trick since you can slip it under flip palms.
What do you mean ? lp,mp,hp, ex don’t work. > means canceled ? mp kongo canceled in lp kongo?
You are right, versus tatsu crossup it is possible to do cr.lk>Tatsu. But it must be a good read to predict the tatsu and not the dive kick.
Yes mp kongo>lp kongo should do the trick unless theyre both at the exact same time then you could ex kongo>ex kongo , I may just go into training to verify the latter as I havent needed it as much as in vanilla and its a bit harder now, wait I may not have even done it in AE…hmm
RE: cr.lk , try using it in endless vs your fave Akuma instead of blocking flip palm and crossup tatsu setups, you may surprise yourself with how much stuff you can duck and squeeze it under!
You know I actually tried something in gga a while back when facing a ryu. When i knocked ryu down I dash forward and manage to forward grab him out of his reversal. At the time I kind of got nervous and messed up my safe jump so I ended up doing a dash but I find that interesting. Maybe for Akuma since we dont have a 3 frame reversal could be grab him out of the his vortex pressure on us so that we not only deal some damage and get some much needed space away from him?
Is there anything to counter the OS sweep?
EX Flip does, but if he doesn’t OS and Gouken uses EX Flip he can walk under and punish Gouken. It’s really not a lot that Gouken can do about that palm set up not unless Akuma does it late. Some sad shit. Akumas vortex is straight shut down using only 1 option in most of his match ups.
Even if he OSes sweep I’m pretty certain he can recover to punish the EX flip.
Depends on the spacing he used if you can get away with EX Flip or not. If after forward throw it’s possible to hit his shoulder with Dive Kick after Crouching RH you can forget it.
If he lands in close, he can DF Palm > OS Sweep > OS SRK and still beat Goukens parry.
All because Gouken has SHIT for a reversal. Because of that 1 set up, it’s Akuma’s match to lose.
I never understand when I see Akuma’s face Gouken users why they even bother doing late Demon Flip set ups. He can totally lock Gouken down by just using the standard set up… I guess it’s a tad better with the DF Palm nerf and Goukens upcoming Super Srk buff, but good luck even getting the meter.
I just let Akuma’s keep going for throw until I can predict one, or if they land a DF Palm I’ll start teching in hopes he doesn’t delay his cr. lk/lp/srk. Other than that, like I said earlier it’s pretty much nothing Gouken can do but hope that Akuma gives him an out.
The nerve of people even debating that Gouken is A Tier.
Doesn’t even need to os srk/sweep or whatever.
He will os sweep and recover, walk forward a bit and then use short to hitconfirm into another hard knock down regardless of whether or not you parry or dive kick.
It’s pretty crappy.
EDIT: BTW I go for c.lk on the first set up. Akuma has caned setups off forward throw and demon flip throw and sweep where he can do his palm and it will beat c.lk. Getting hit by a palm though gives him way time to walk around and he has to time the next one manually… I can usually do c.lk buffered into HK tatsu to get my damage and then some right back.
