Matador Video Thread

He’s been known to not post videos where he loses, like he’ll be in the middle of a set with someone and then he’ll say “doze vids were lost dawg” or something. There’s even a video of him out there rage quitting on someone. Anyway, I digress.

Me vs my Buddy Chat de Thunder from Gfaqs. i’m a self-proclaimed expert at the dhalsim mu, just watch how my main goal isn’t to constantly get in or spam him with air attacks but just a slow steady push to the corner. Playing Sabin’s dhalsim has made me realize that this matchup isn’t about pressure or zoning, it’s about control. Dhalsim wins when you’re where he wants you to be. You win when he’s where you want him to be. There’s no point in trying to do the big damage combos outside of the corner. Pressure him first, put him in the corner, make him make the bad decisions, you stun him and end it there. Don’t just fall for every single trap, jumping over fireballs when you shouldn’t be and of course barcelona never works in this matchup. Sabin would teleport out of the way, and hit me with yoga shangri-la every time i tried it on him. Of course this isn’t Sabin but I learned a lot from him and I applied as much as I could against Chat here. Take notes i guess

Here is a great example from this mu about a “bad decision” in the corner that I punished.

Notice how I only focused once during the first round, and that was only to get around a poke and cover a little distance (NOT something you should abuse, ever, dhalsim will just hit fierce.) Chat put himself in the corner at 1:46, and I realized that this was my opportunity to end the match. He obviously knows he is in a terrible position and is going EXTRA heavy on the pokes cause he knows I’m trying to find one scrappy window to do a lazy jump in and hurt him bad. I know he’s going to abuse those pokes: I preemptively charge a focus and crumple his c. lk slide. i have meter for an EX barcelona combo but my goal right now is to build up some stun, so that in the long run, I’m going to keep him in the corner and eventually stun him. I don’t actually stun him, but I do keep him there and play as safe as possible. After I condition him to not use pokes, I start throwing him. Now he’s trying to play proper defense but is now both afraid of my pokes (and focus) and my kara throws. He’s making bad decisions and trying to tech when he shouldn’t be, and I start punishing him with cosmic heel and lots of c. mp’s. He can’t space himself in the corner so his anti-air normals are less likely to work and I capitalize on that when I can. I’m in complete control of the match and end it within 30 seconds. That’s what you’re supposed to do in the Dhalsim matchup. Never back off if you have him in the corner, but always give him the illusion that he has room to breath. Soon as he spaces one poke or fireball poorly, it’s huge damage and continued corner rape.

Also note 3:30. Know the spacing of Dhalsim’s normals. After I block the jump fierce I know I am now out of range of all of his normals, and I also know he’s going to want to check me with another poke. Unfortunately it will always whiff and I get an easy jump in: just a little less space I have to cover now and I’m now in MY good poke spot. Capitalize on those opportunities.

I was hoping someone would weigh in on the Dhalsim matchup, so thanks, joz,. Also, some Guy strats would be nice.

A good video of me with a nice ending enjoy, feedback would be appreciated

ibuki

any thoughts on dealing with ibuki rushdowns? im having trouble with them

Standing MK Beats almost everything(even sniper)it’s kinda like HK vs gief. His Crouching Fierce punch beats it tho which you can beat with a slide. If he doesn’t get poke happy, Cosmic heel and rush down, Watchout for that super.

Focus is helpful but sims are used to dealing with it and if you get focus happy that will bait you.

Some matches of mine. SF4 was my first fighter that I took the time to learn. Im still learning and dont consider myself good yet I win about 65% of my matches. In vanilla I played with a pad but in Super I bought a SE and modded it with Sanwa parts. I main Vega.

- Vega vs Balrog - Friend that use to beat me all the time.
Vega vs Honda Same as above.
Vega vs Ryu - Great finish
Vega vs Adon 3000+ BP

haha funny to see you admit to that even though you two are supposed to be great buddies!

btw i have been meaning to ask you rugal,do you sort of have a mental block fighting against TKK?cause from what i can see,you arent even 20% as good while fighting him.i mean, your footsies, defense etc takes a nose dive!

These are a couple of matches from me, had a good friend to help me upload these fights on youtube :bgrin:

- Vega vs Ryu 2000+ BP
-Vega vs Guile 3000+ BP

I made a couple of mistakes

All criticism are welcomed. :smokin:

The god is back with two more GREAT matches against Daigos Ryu and Tokidos Akuma.

I can’t stress enough how fucking great Makoto is… See for yourself:

(vs Daigo part 1)
(part2)

(vs Tokido part 1)
(part 2)

I’ll definitely do an analysation of these matches. Really, really cool!

@ the joker - Good job on your matches. Always keep in mind that a properly timed DP or flash kick will autocorrect and stuff izuna. Good jumping AA. Good timing with those ultras too.

 1. Never do PPP flip on wakeup unless it is specifically to dodge a move that you will recover in time to punish, same with kkk backflip but more so the PPP one. Try to never do the backflips when you are close to the opponent in general. The farther away you are, the safer it is.

 2. Try to never do more than 3 attack links especially those one frame ones. The reason being that on some characters like Ryu if they are ducking and you push them too far away, you can’t hit them with Ex FBA. The second reason is cause the more links you do the higher chance of you messing up. The third reason is that EX FBA will come out on ANY three link attacks from a no charge position.

=O at the end of tokido vs makoto part 1

Thx for the advice Alex! :china:

Also im suprised my ultra came out when i wanted it too most of the time a flip just comes out lol i know i db,f,b,f but it doesn’t do it
I have the good reaction to do it but U2 hates me

Wow was Makoto using a regular 360 controller?

Every EX i seen was with 3x punches or 3x kicks or maybe he feels more comfortable pressing all three on the stick?

hmmm… :looney:

Does neone kno how to get a video to start at a specific time, I’m not sure how to do that, say from justin.tv

Mirror Match between me and Moroha: http://www.justin.tv/xanadugames/b/263747006

Starts at 1:06:00, I’m startin to develop a bad habit of accident EX ST smh

I’m in green, Moroha is alt

Not every ex, only those done outside of combos, reduces chance of error (even though the chance is low, why not?)

makoto uses a controller?? thats crazy!!
howcome??

godlike

hello my brothers i just thought i’d drop by and say hello no vids not yet atleast catch ya’ll later
