When I saw his video, I thought that too. At least for me, I’m a player that likes to condition his opponent to press buttons first, and that’s what I need counterpoking and throws for. I actually don’t think Vega is that much of a blockstring character, since he doesn’t have frame advantage on a lot of his normals on block.
Maybe that’s a suitable tactic for mirrors though, since Vega can’t do much about it?
in a mirror match thats how you’re supposed to play, hell thats how cat k plays if it doesnt lag.
also, its sort of a gentleman’s agreement not to tick throw in a lag affected match(although i did break the rule!).so if anything,i wouldve never even uploaded the video in the first place.neither of us knew what we where doing throughout the match.its just that im pretty sure that i will never be able to play him again in vanilla sf4.so the video is just for lolz!
also,i partly agree with sasaki.the thing is that once you condition your opponent not to press any buttons, you could go right ahead with the lk block string shenanigans.which in all honesty is the only non gimmicky tool that you can use to even out certain scenarios against good players.
its crucial that you condition yourself to do the lk link in such a way such that even if you mistime it,you shouldve pressed the button early, meaning the lk shouldnt come out.when that happens, the mashed out srk would completely whiff thanks to the distance from which you would be throwing out your lks.
none of the blockstring that the other characters use have a shield against srk spamming.so i honestly dont agree with sasaki saying its any less of a blockstring compared to the others.for what its worth, its really good against charge characters.against srk character you just got to use it smart.
cat-k’s got a bit of a soft spot for me and used to teach me everything that their vega community comes to finds out.all of the mp safe jumping techniques, piece of mercury frame traps, the theory behind the izuna loop (and how much its being miss understood on this board) etc that are now a part of this board comes from them.since i had to struggle to get some of their most recent theories across this board,i honestly lost interest trying to explain why st lk is the most important part of claw’s game.this board just isnt keen on that sort of information.i just talk about it to certain individuals on this board whom i believe would like to know what ive got to offer.
Although I only said Vega isn’t a too good blockstring character I didn’t really think about the st.lk too much. You’re right, it has 2+ on block, which makes it pretty nice for strings like those. I also noticed that, even if the opponent manages to mash SRK, it often trades in a way that Vega still remains standing. Did this happen to anyone else?
wow really?nope never happened to me!
anyways make sure sure that you get the spacing and the timing down.you can abuse the string shenanigan against the charge characters and use it smartly against reversal type characters.
after you throw out a couple of lks as hit confirms, you can
1.on hit:end it with a crhp for a 165 damage 3 hit combo.
2.on block:wait/backdash(depends on the spacing) and bait a reversal.
3.on block:do a piece of mercure just as you’re coming out of your last st lk.the timing is tricky but if you can do it right,it beats out all of the mashed cr normals of all the characters in the game(including throw techs and cr fierce).
4.on block:walk up kara throw.
5.on block:cosmic heel shenanigans
6.on block:forward jump/neutral jump.
I figured out a way to create a Kara scarlet terror/rolling crystal flash. I’m not sure if some one created this already but I found this technique by accident. Use it well my vega brothers

I think you put down the wrong link…cuz i dont see anything relating to street fighter.
No I didn’t cause I can pull it up fine on my iPhone. If this problem continues then I’ll repost it on my computer
Yea the link is something else for me as well.
@laxlight- so what is this about POM frame trap or Izuna loop misconception. Please enlighten us. We really do need all the help we can get. If anything just a little summary.
Ok I’ll repost it when I get home. Still at work
Kara-RCF aint nothing new… As for kara-st, do you mean you stand up, walk a bit then st?!
Would still like to see it though…^^
yes, like i said i may not be the one that discovered this technique first but i i can assure you i found this out by accident while playing online. yes you do walk up a bit and then hit the kick button(s)

here it is again for those who could not be able to see it before
Haha, I would call this “leniency-ST”, not “kara-ST” XD Still, good find.
I already knew about the ST one but i never thought about trying it with rcf…cool.
It works for all charge characters that’s charge is away then forward
I uploaded the japanese matches with Rambo (Master Vega) on my channel. It’s probably still processing right now:
(Link removed because Audio/Video was off. I’ll try and reupload it in the next few hours).
very good sasaki, you have served me well.
nani o piece of mercury frame trap desu ka
WHAT IS IT laxlight please do tell
normally non srk characters like to mash a lot when you’re doing your lk strings.so to prevent them from pushing buttons, the piece of mercury frame trap is very very useful.normally after throwing out 2 st lks on their block, its very difficult to continue the shenanigan if they are mashing down on crmps, low shorts or any other cr normals for that matter(which includes throw teching).so if you get the timing down right, you could do the piece of mercury on the very last frame of the recovery of st lk such that the piece of mercury lands as a counter attack, going over the cr normals that are being mashed by your opponent.you do that a few times, and any sane opponent would stop mashing between your st lks shenanigans.
as an example:in my match against cat-k, i did 2 st lks followed by a piece of mercury which went over his mashed crmp to land as a counter attack.this essentially prevented him from interrupting my stlks throughout the whole match.
check out the very first string i did:

was trying to figure out why you were using pom in your game lax
thanks for that!
gonna try it out when i can get some game time in
