Matador Video Thread

You seem to have quite a defensive style I must say. You’re often very far from your opponent, waiting for mistakes. Anyway, you stood your ground against top class opponents, GGs ! =)

Here part of the stream Haztlan and I talked about. 2 hours of godfather’s godliness. I watched the first 20 minutes and already said omg 3 times, (Izuna loop on Abel, causual Jump in Ultra as if this is Super, and a ST from cl(!)HP)

So good to see him again. And only 17 followers? All of you, get a twitch.tv account. Now!

I am trying to watch the video after linking to makoto’s channel and it just says its offline with no video loading ;/

Not to lie to you, at first seeing him practicing such hard (and tactically very interesting) combo as dash forward sLK counterhit cMK LP-RCF and then dropping simple cMK or cMP EX-FBA is a bit puzzling.

But then, from second match till th tenth (haven’t watched the whole of it yet) : damned, he’s just excellent ! And not afraid of going into fancy stuff as well. @_@

Just as you said, it’s nice to hear about him again. =)
EDIT : it’s true twich says « offline » now. I hope he hasn’t deleted the stream. O_O

For my part, I think this Jozhear’s BO3 hasn’t been posted yet :

[details=Spoiler]He already has top class execution, but still lacks a bit of something when competing against evenly skilled players. Dunno, but someday he could make it happens.

And don’t pay attention to one of the commentators, he was discovering Vega’s balance changes since super. =o[/details]

How DARE you! That first match is in no way representive for the rest of the Set. Going online after offline training sessions. Also he punished with clHP crMP every time and missed it just one time in the whole 2 hours. And that is not a muscle meory but a visual link.

That fancy set up he trained was used one time vs unenis’s Sagat. And he got knocked out of the RCF

There you go.

And both of you are right, its gone know. and of cours I did not capture it.

Still played almost flawlessly - the only thing I noticed was the passive waiting in the corner bit in the last couple of rounds

there’s nothing in makoto twitch :frowning:

There was a 2 hour video yesterday on Makoto twitch, i watched 30 mins last night and was gonna watch rest today, gah!

I found nothing in makoto0124 twitchm u guys made me jealous :frowning:

Ah well too bad.

I will check his account twice or thrice a week and post it here if something’s up.

just realise these videos are a year old…oh well! relive the memories i suppose (for those that seen these)!

Can someone explain to me those STs in the first round of the first vid? Some of them seemed a bit odd, but it could just be my lack of understanding of vega.

Ugh yeah I know about the sweep option, but I always like to focus lvl2 the kunai followup if he does it. I second guessed myself at the last moment on the first srk and then the second srk I was expecting the kunai, but he didn’t do it. He eliminated me in top 64 last year so this was an intense runback for me this year and I was glad I was able to beat him a year later. F-Word’s a nice fella btw and took the loss pretty well. I respect his sportsmanship.

Not my best performance at EVO, but I did get out of my pool in winners this year which is huge improvement since I got out in losers the previous two EVOs. I went 5-2 losing to Gamerbee’s Adon and Weaksauce’s Sagat from Midwest.

I appreciate the feedback btw

Here’s my winner’s final match in my pool to get out against Shakangel (Cammy) from Honduras. Only the first match and third match were recorded by his girlfriend. I definitely got away with too many jump-ins , but he wasn’t anti-airing so I just kept doing it until he made me stop. Once I see he couldn’t tech any kara throws and not punishing my blocked EX FBAs with Canon Spike, I started to get more comfortable going on the offense.

Except in first rounds where you usually don’t seem confident in your execution, I don’t see a lot to say apart that teching against Cammy is dangerous. If they disrespect you completely with canon strike/throw mix-ups, without caring for any reversals, HK-ST or bjHP can be options as they beat both (with backdash you already do), unlike teching. Plus it seems to me your distance to your opponent was much better into the last rounds than in the first, but it may just be an impression. Nice offense in the end, btw. And congrats for making it to the winners bracket ! =D

First wake-up ST was meant to beat Akuma’s air-throw (which it did), EX-ST was meant to beat air hados (but I’ve never seen it work against two, projectile invincibility and range is too short), other wake-up ones are mistakes (though they might autocorrect sometimes). It’s not a great wake-up option overall, but sometimes it can prevent you opponent abusing of wake-up demon grab. =)

Here’s a nice, long set I recorded between German Luger (Blue Vega) vs. Rugalitarian (Red Vega) at CEO 2013. This was to get into top 32. Enjoy

One thing that really bothers me is CH beating cLP or cMP. You put a lot of effort to gain a confortable life lead by footsiing, and then you whiff one jab and get blown-up by CH–EX-ST almost for free. -_-

Anyway, very solid play from Rugalitarian, with excellent MU knowledge as well. And the opponent was skilled too. Definitely worth watching. =)

^lol

Sick match indeed. German Luger representing both the online unblockable and the CH like it’s vanilla. Good stuff! Also, Rugalitarian’s st.lk use is sexy as hell. Great set, great players!

Me getting bodied by Momochi at CEO 2013. I didn’t expect him to be so aggressive in the first macth and then he switched it up playing slower in the second match. It was difficult trying to read him.
