Matador Video Thread

yeah, where were you guys at when i was in germany? When I was over there everyone was free cept the french. I leave and now you guys are good, and hosting more than a tournament a year? Thanks Europe not having the opportunity when I was there. /salty

I started messing around with Vega a couple of days ago
And I love him! The only thing about him I really hate is none of his exs work as reversals - the only thing I can ever do on wake up is ultra or backdash, and I get option-selected like hell
Anyway, this is a match which isn’t a good game, but I just thought was funny. I’ll try and upload some real matches so I can work on my vega
Oh sorry if I’m completely off everyone’s skill level here. I’m basically a scrub

You are a scrub but you pull 3xlp in an online match? Get out of my sight!

i have to agree. That’s not scrub play. That’s above average. You do take a LOT of unnecessary risks, but it could just be because your opponent was pretty bad. Either way not bad.

Yamasan vs. Adon and Seth from 27:25 onwards.

Ah good old arcade footage, still great, even with AE already on consoles. I wish they kept the AAA/CCC ranking system for the home release…

Although I must say, I am not so much impressed about Yamasans performance. Lots of SHC from full screen and naked non-EX Barcelonas.

Hi, guys! Please like, comment and share my Cross Assault vid! I would greatly appreciate it

Yeah I like going for the hard knockdown most of the time as of late. Plus, with the sweep damage getting back its Vanilla damage, it starts adding up especially if I counter hit any crouching they are about to do.

Is this vanilla AE?..the date is 12-01-29 but it does’nt say “ver 2012” before the matches starts…i thought most japanese arcades have been updated by now…also glad to see some new footage of Yamasan…he may not be the best Vega around but he has certain style of his own that is entertaining to watch…

Interesting, though I probably still go for the max damage option. Also, commented and liked!

OK. A think I’ve been curious about for long. WHY does everyone use the Japanese voice of the chars? Even English speakers? What’s the logic of this? In all replays on the net, in every tournament, the chars are speaking Japanese, while everyone and the commentators are speking English. Why?

My guess is that people just like better the japanese voices…some charachters sound really bad in english like Honda “the cookie monster”…also most of the dialog in the game is pretty cheesy and can be distracting…Vega sounds pretty cool in both lenguages…I like him better in english…by the way in japanese I always though vega was saying “right behind you!!!..”…and not “Bloody high claw!”…

SF4 is a japanese piece of work which means that japanese voices are the source material = provides a more authentic feel (for most).

In my opinion, most if not all (cody being one exception) english voices sound cheesy or just plain bad in comparison to their japanese counterpart. This of course stems from the fact that seiyuu (voice actors) are generally regarded to have more of a status profession, which can be understood just by taking a quick glance at their culture, which produces a lot of content requiring seiyuu, which in turn requires an education of at least three years at university level (often longer) iirc. There are, to my knowledge at least, more than 100 schools educating the art of voice acting in Japan. Whereas in the west, acting/voice acting is often intertwined (ie. voice acting being caried out by regular actors) while in reality it’s two very different pieces of work. Also, some of the lines do not translate well into english (I lost!), other times they changed the script (Bison: “Noooo!”), meaning subtle characteristics are lost in translation.

Edit: There is a documentary (if you haven’t seen it yet) in several parts on youtube, about the japanese voice actors. First part is here:
It’s quite impressive that they managed to get such a famous cast for the characters in SF4 and it’s easy to see that they are taking it seriously. To me, most stand out as really classy. Bison and Seth are among my personal favourites in terms of depth

By the way…even if you have the game set in english Guile screams “Itai!” (It hurts) when he loses…and Vega says “Omae!”(You) When taking of his mask…

I guess my taste is way different than most in this thing. I think most of chars sound very bad in Japanese. ESPECIALLY Vega’s voice is like a hen in the parts he shouts. His English voice is so much cooler and charismatic. Dudley is as if he is in the toilet and shitting hard (sorry for the language).

I think it would be much better if all of them were talking in their native language. Vega speaking Spanish, Rose speaking Italian… Would be great.

It is 2012. Earlier in the video Juri has that crazy Feng Shui engine dash and I checked some older video with Hakan matches and he started the rounds oiled. I guess they just didn’t bother to put that logo in the arcade version.

No believe me, I have been doing the stupidest things with vega.
Eg full screen ultra 2 to try and chip the enemy to death

Just sent the vid to eventhubs trying to send it to SRK too.

Good luck. I hope I can finally start playing again this month. Looking forward to tournaments in the future.

the fact you recognize this… makes you automatically above scrub level
