so this anime/comic debate group im in just discovered the white hate on luke cage and i explained them the incoming hate for iron fist…lol…they lost their shit. we got this long ass thread on fb going where they dont get it hahaha.

Thoughts, didn’t realize iron fist was a white dude ( i dont read comics). that’s disgusting. almost as bad a travesty as making the hero of kung fu a white dude. or that movie samurai where tom cruise kills an asian woman’s husband, and then she throws herself on him. or that other movie with jet li and jackie chan, but nope hero is a white dude. or dragon ball with goku being white. or the new matt damon movie where he’s gonna fight monsters on the great wall. they should make this iron fist guy, who sounds like an otaku, into an asian, and hopefully otakus who look up to this person kill themselves.

pros:
METHOD MAN cameo, followed up by meth droppin sick rhymes on Sways universe LOL. too fucking good
Cottonmouth. Great villain. Believable as a crime boss. 3 dimensional. Great development via the flashbacks. You don’t like him as a person, but you can tell he lives by his own internal code of honor, and you’re also cheering for him at the same time.
Love the way they wove the social commentary seamlessly in. The whole show was an advertisement for black lives matter, and a giant middle finger to the alt right and trump supporters, in much the same way jessica jones was a feminist trojan horse that shit all over the gross dudes in the gamergate community
misty is HOT. reminds me of porn star misty stone, which i later furiously jerked off to.
rosario dawson is HOT as always. oh god. haven’t really found a porn star who looks like her, someone hit me up if they know one
game of thrones style deaths - totally unexpected
cons:
fight scenes were nowhere good as the ones in daredevil because the dude is invincible. there was no tension. the final boss fight was a let down.
diamondback - shitty unhinged villain. actor sucked too, overacted. cringed when he delivered the carl come out and play line. makes no sense because he somehow became super successful but as shades pointed out, multiple times had no fucking plan and was winging it. also, dont read comics, but it was never explained why he didnt hate his dad and instead blamed luke. makes zero sense. if i were in his shoes i wouldve blamed the dad first and foremost. hope they develop the character more in flashbacks, liked the boxing scenes
mariah also seemed unhinged and lacking in plan. actress didn’t seem nearly as good as dude who played cottonmouth
game of thrones style deaths - too many cool characters gone
In general i would say the first half of the show is better, due to better villain. but method man cameo redeemed the second half and so did the social commentary.
So actually I think all the marvel shows are equally good. its definitely the villains that make the show, so in that way, second half of luke cage was weakest. as was second half of dare devil 2, with the dumb magical zombie ninjas and this random blacksmith person who was just conjured out of thin air and then killed off immediately afterward with no development whatsoever. jessica jones i enjoyed more because again, when you are invincible, there is no tension at all. even the magic judas bullets were dumb because diamondback was able to finish the job at multiple times (snipe him in the head for fucks sake) but didn’t. the first time after he sniped luke, he ran away because police came. wtf all he had to do was walk over and finish the job and then be off. and yet somehow the second time he shoots him by a garbage truck and lets the garbage truck get away, even though the last time luke escaped in a vehicle, diamondback blew up the ambulance they were fleeing in.
Shut up.
fuck that real world somehow did the brooklyn season with no shots of black people and this was pre-gentrification
