Marvel's Netflix Universe: Return of the Kingpin

i mean its not that awful when you know the character. the show implies danny was kinda destined for the role, but it was always between those two. davos turns heel over it.

Ward was one of the main reasons I decided the criticism was too harsh myself.

I’m still trying to puzzle out what the hell that was? Why be all menacing like that to a random food truck dude if you’re there to help the Iron Fist?

i dont know anything abt iron fist source material, but after some wikipedia-ing the characters, they changed a lot of the source material anyways so yeah…

its foreshadowing. he becomes one of iron fists biggest enemies.

Yeah, but there has to be way better foreshadowing than throwing shit at some random dude’s head. I wondered for a legit minute if he was Bullseye.

I thought it was stupid to introduce Davos that way as it doesn’t match with his characterization afterwards.

lol that Danny V Davos fight

Rambling thoughts, i dont read comic books so i did not care about any of the source material

setting aside that this character seems like an white otaku anime gamer’s gross wet dream for a second, the show was just OK. not horseshit like the critics say, who i think unfairly panned it because now its cool to point out hollywood whitewashing (i was pointing that shit out years ago on srk and irl but nobody listened), but not great either.

the problem is that daredevil 1 & 2(first half and the second half with punisher and not the stupid mystical ninja bullshit), jessica jones and luke cage (first half) were so good, and the villains were compelling (minus diamondback who was stupid)

i skipped and skimmed most of the episodes and felt like i got the gist of it. the acting/dialog wasn’t really good for this iron fist fellow. i just didn’t care about any of the characters specific to the show. the cool ones were rosario dawson, hot as always, madame gao, and trinity. the actual main character was lame and the acting seemed bad. like there’s a scene where he gets really angry and drives a car really fast with ward in the seat and crashes it. there’s a lot of scenes like that but the anger seems contrived and forced and never convincing. not sure if actor bad or the writing bad. shit, they should’ve just cast keanu reeves and it would’ve been better. the fight scenes weren’t really good. i actually fast forwarded most of them. the fight scenes in luke cage weren’t good either cause dudes bulletproof so theres zero tension, but the action scenes were at least entertaining.

so the main problem isn’t that iron fist is bad or that this is gross otaku wish fulfillment (i actually enjoyed the white savior movie great wall cause matt damon and the viper are so cool, and matt damon doesn’t actually bang the asian chick), its that the other marvel netflix series were so damn good in comparison.

as for actual plot a lot of stuff made no sense. how did they capture madame gao? she was able to send iron fist flying with force push in one ep yet in another ep she even looks scared after her minions are killed and she gets captured? and iirc in dare devil she also pwned murdock in a scene as well.

and in the final episode, the daughter realizes dad is evil, but then in the next scene conspires with davos to kill iron fist. not buying it

and why is iron fist, someone with mystical kung fu power training for 15 years, getting rekt by low level thugs. i mean murdock was able to fight way better, only losing to kingpin after getting beat up by the ninja.

of course there always is. but it also doesnt seem that crazy a jump when you think about alot of the stuff.

-been trained as an elite since childhood
-has almost no real interactions with the outside world
-fun is eating wild animals and fuckin shit up
-doesnt know how to properly act around people
-100% devoted to the cause no matter what

the ending felt like they took dr.strange and switched it up

According to this, Iron Fist is a hit on netflix

That doesn’t mean anything. Granted immortal iron fist is pretty recent but it’s not the most well written Iron Fist/Danny Rand characterization imo. The characters that surround him in those books are what made the stories better, not the way Danny was written per se.

i…wut? dd is prob the strongest coherently of them all…and hes the lowest? damn.

DD was the first. It set the standard for the other shows to follow.

dd is the only one with a second season. it stayed low unless im misreading the second graph and its still only counting season 1.

It’s only counting the first season. The graph shows the release date of season 1 and nothing else.

i feel like watching season 2 of daredevil again

Oi, keyword being “latest” means the writing had changed over time. Claremont-era iron fist was well written but poor sales forced marvel to put like and Danny together in one book to salvage the characters somehow and those books were good character driven affairs too.

You guys should get into Dexter if you havent seen it, really good show and features that cool gif ‘surprise motherfucker!’

Normally people listen to good reviews to check out a new show, but me, I checked out 1 episode of Iron Fist and tapped out. Netflix had my back though and now am binging like crazy with the good stuff.

STOP AT SEASON 4. Or 5. Just don’t go into 6-8. Season 7 isn’t enough to suffer through seasons 6 and 8.

Up to episode 7. Did I forget something? I thought Madam Gao had nothing to do with The Hand in Daredevil season 1 or 2?
Did they just all of a sudden attach Gao to the hand just to suit this crap story?

Also, Daredevil = Hell’s kitchen, Luke Cage = Harlem, Ironfist and JJ = ?
