Plain someone last night,psun510, and the match is going fine. He kills my first character and taunts. My second character comes in and starts beasting. Then outta nowhere the game starts lagging way hard. Needless to say I lost, but my question is, was that lagswitching? Why would someone do that in a friendly match?

What makes you think the game is laggy? Online experience is much better than SSFIV:AE and MvC3. The only problem is the lobby itself.
