No, he didn’t use them in the finals of evo but I don’t think anyone would. But he has beaten good solid players with those teams in smaller tourneys and in casual play at major tourneys. Now don’t get me wrong there is a top tier, of course he is going to use who he thinks will get him the victory in the tournament though. But yeah he used those characters in the fight on point and mostly OCV a lot of people, I wish I had a link to the Florida vids maybe someone has the link…

edit: im not trying to say MvC2 doesnt have tiers, every game does. but people complaining that there are only 4 characters + a random assortment of assists is just fucking stupid.
LOL Marvel players get mad sensitive sometimes. Anyways i think that marvel is one of the best games to watch people play besides VF and GGXX. Its so damn exciting. If I could play it I would. I think its one of the hardest games to play. I should be able to play it cuz im black :sad: …check out the sig.

I would not say that it is the best fighting game, but I will say that a good marvel player has to be dedicated in order to stay on top. There is new stuff coming out all the time and you can get owned so easily by something that you didn’t even know was possible. So it’s a good game, in that you have to get out there and play people in the arcade, at home and on Live to stay on top of your game. BUT, a lot of the greatness about Marvel2 is due to the gliches and infinites that were not supposed to be in the game, so it’s not really any intentional fault by Capcom that the game requires this constant exposure to the game. It was really by accident, or at least it looks that way. I really don’t think that Capcom intended the game to be given away to less than half of the game’s entire roster.
At the same time, if the game wasn’t designed as cleverly as it was, then probably no one would play the game. It would be entirely lame to play MVC2 as a straight one-on-one fighter without the assists/DHC’s, etc. So, the game’s great design is still a part of the “fun factor” of Marvel, just as much as the random glitchyness is.
You really can’t recreate a game like MVC2. Any attempts to do so would likely result in a horrible failure of a game the likes of which even SVC:chaos hasn’t seen. MVC2 is a unique gaming experience that we’re lucky to have here in the USA. I just wish that I was good it. :razz:

Mvc2. Best of Marvel and Capcom fighting game ever. Part 1 is so GARBAGE. Shit is so fucking boring, that is not even that funny. Street Fighter 3rd Strike is a good game, but is not better than MvC2. MvC2 ownes that shit. The only reason they say that Street Fighter 3rd Strike Ownes MvC2 its cuz they Suck At it. They cant be like the Real Players of MvC2, If you know what I mean. Marvel vs Capcom 2, best Marvel, and Capcom game best ever made. Period.

Also, people who think assist characters can’t fight are crazy. The reason you never see characters like Psylocke or Tron doing major ownage is generally because they are not on teams designed for them to fight on. i.e. on MST, what’s Tron’s best assist. Probably Storm’s proj. assist, right?. Tron/Storm isn’t really that great of a duo because Tron is the primary assist. The main assist characters in the game (Cyke, Psy, Commando, Tron, Doom) are way better when actually given assists to support them. Just the other day, my friend dealt out some serious ownage w/ Psy/Tron/Doom. That’s a pretty good team no matter who’s on point. :tup: I’m starting to think that Sentinel and Cable are Commando’s best assists after getting beat by another of my friend’s Commando. But for the most part teams are using these character to assist and not fight. That’s why they never get any props.
The players that were in the grand finals of the Soul Calibur 2 tournament ended up picking their joke characters and not their real ones. Thus they made the finals boring as hell.

Not for nothing but considering the popularity of MvC2 and saying its not the greatest is a shame. I mean why would ppl play something they dont like??? Also a possible reason why its not successful outside the US is (If I offend anyone im sorry) that most of the Japanese players that played were so hell bent on learning Iron-man that they weren’t advancing at all. Back then all the Japanese Marvel matches i saw were like Iron-man/Cable u didnt see any sents or magz at all. They learned Iron-man i give them credit for that but the reason it waz not popular IMO waz because thats all they stuck to then they came to evo expecting to win. I mean there is like 5 outside the U.S that can play and there is no Iron-man in that team nor Cable. Thats just my 2 cents comments? questions? Fuck yous?
