The gods were born from a life force that surrounded the planet when it was forming. Whereas the eternals were created by the celestials, experimenting on the human race. Some gods dislike the eternals because they feel they are ripping them off. Like there’s one called Thena that sounds like Athena. Zuras - Zeus, etc. The Greeks and the Eternals have traded blows before. I think Asgardians, too.
Anyway, in the Marvel lore some of Hercules’ legendary twelve tasks were not actually done by him but by an eternal called the forgotten one. So they do have some relation with one another. But I bet that means little for the movie,

I saw the movie last night. Is a great movie.
Did everyone catch the little nuances in the movie?
Captain Marvel did a shoryuken canceled into Liu Kang’s flying kick.
There was a Champion Edition cab in demo mode (Sagat VS Vega (dictator) on Dhalsim’s stage).
They made a mistake with the CE cab though. Not only is it a couple of years too early for CE, but the cabinet they used has an LCD screen.
Movie takes place during 95. CE and ST would have been out with Alpha 1 around the corner.

Except the scene where the cab is shown is during a flashback to 1989.
I don’t recall seeing it in any flashback scene. But the scene where it’s most prominently seen is when CM meets Fury at the bar in 95. If it does happen to accidentally appear in one of her flashback scenes then yeah that’s an oversight.
It’s in her flashback scene in the same bar, where she’s actually playing on the cab.

Looking at it, maybe this image is a homage not to Captain Marvel specific but to the trope of heroes who have civilian lives but whose power comes when they switch out with another conscious that has powers. Technically though that wouldn’t apply to Monica. It would apply to Carol losely due to her original story have Ms. Marvel be an alternate personality but Monica to my memory never had that issue.
