Marvel Studios | The Infinity Saga ends

Fuck you, Gavin is beautiful.

:sob:

Is Marvel back?

Ever since Stan Lee and Jack Kirby introduced the X-Men, fans everywhere have followed the extraordinary stories of the X-Men through seminal moments like GIANT-SIZE X-MEN, 1991’s X-MEN #1, AGE OF APOCALYPSE, and NEW X-MEN. Each of these moments introduced a new era for mutantkind—and starting this summer, the world will experience the next seminal moment in the history of the X-Men with HOUSE OF X and POWERS OF X.

ā€œWe are excited to have Jon back with the Marvel family, and we could not have asked for a better creative team to help usher the X-Men into a whole new era,ā€ says Marvel Editor in Chief C.B. Cebulski. ā€œWhile we can’t reveal too much about the story just yet, these new stories will redefine the X-Men and their place in the Marvel Universe. This is a historic moment both new and passionate fans won’t want to miss.ā€

These two new series—written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Young Gun Pepe Larraz, R.B. Silva, and colorist Marte Garcia—will build from every major X-Men milestone since 1963 up through the current X-Men series and storylines fans know and love, including some of our most iconic characters from over the decades. Each series will be released on an alternate weekly schedule, starting with HOUSE OF X, followed by POWERS OF X. Fans will be able to follow along each week this summer and witness history unfold.

Quite a mix of characters. The original 5 in their old costumes. Havok as a kid? I see Vulcan. Old Cable alive again? A woman with metal skin branding Illyana’s soulsword. Post-experiment Wolverine and old school Wolverine. Black queen Emma Frost is very recent. Punk rock Storm . Lilandra alive. Xavier looks very young, I take it next to him is Moira. Nimrod. Toad looks like a court jester again. I like these looks for Blink and Dazzler better than the ones they recently had.

The problem with that marriage is that Gwen was never going to be prettier than Gavin.

Them’s the breaks though, none of us are prettier than Gavin. :man_shrugging:

I am.

Sorry about y’all.

Pumpkins aren’t in the movie. I was just talking about some vinyl I got from that area that I still listen too.

And Smashing Pumpkins are fucking awesome up until Mellon Collie. That was the start of their decline in my opinion. Until then they were my favorite band and Gish, Siamese Dream, and Pisces Iscariot still get rotation on my turntable.

Meanwhile, Gavin was in… well not in the movie, but in the Courntey Love since they were together during that time period.

Possibly the most messed up part of Nirvana.

This should literally never happen. We already had a secret infiltration double agent story in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, we need no more.

And the superhero sustitutions kind of got a pass in the comics because you’ve seen many of those superheroes in 500+ comic books and some of them had bad and derailed characterizations so it was nothing but a plot device to try to fix a few things.

In the movies, where they’ve mostly gotten every character right and we’ve seen them in like 5 movies, it’d be dumb and a complete downer.

It’s not the same. What happened in Winter Soldier was indoctrination. Secret Invasion is a full scale global invasion met to kill and replace.

In big terms, it’s basically the same storyline: finding the infiltrate people and trying to stop their plan (whatever it is). I don’t think we need another movie like that. But well, I respect your way of thiking.

Gotta say, I’ve practically never been able to enjoy an X-Men comic book in my life. I started reading in 2003, aside from Ultimate X-Men, Whedon’s Astonishing, Bendis’s 2013 Uncanny and New X-Men: Academy X, which I read but wasn’t immensely thrilled by, I find their series way too burdened and basically inaccesible, as well as outright boring. Too many time travels, too many fights between groups and subgroups of (I guess) heroes and villains that I don’t know… I just see no sense in these series.

I’ve really tried but I think it’s been for a couple decades a series that only relies on its brand names and larger than life characters to engage people, but a regular guy like me finds basically nothing to relate to. Marvel needs to do a very good job to go back to the basics and try to refresh whatever it’s supposed to make these series interesting and valuable, and I think it will be hard.

Hickman’s definitely not the right guy to do so, he’s overly cerebral and complicated, but we still have like 3 years (roughly six to seven relaunches) to go and experiment before these guys get to the MCU.

Maybe you should read the original Stan Lee and Jack Kirby runs so you can bitch about it ā€œnot being my x-menā€ like you do with spider-man.

Right before the Mutant Massacre was a Godlike place to start.

I’d be more interested in the Claremont run, but I’m still not thrilled about reading old comics. Right now I’m reading All-New X-Men by Bendis and I’m definitely interested in Grant Morrison’s New X-Men.

Really? Which year?

Claremont is a shit tier novelist.

And yet a God tier comic writer.

Start there.

I only read the original Days of Future Past storyline, but to be true, it feels really old… I don’t think I’ll give it a chance. What I would like is a good new X-Men comic book. But if I don’t get it, well, whatever.

I’m more of a ā€˜recent SJW Marvel’ reader, there are always some good books to come back there, I want to give a chance to Kamala and Miles under Saladin Ahmed, and maybe even Champions.

But I’ve been since September devouring every Valiant Comics book since its 2012 relaunch. It’s some freaking savage stuff and quite addictive  Harbinger is pretty much a modernized X-Men myth done right.

Claims to be an ā€˜SJW X-Men reader’.

Doesn’t like [de-powered] Storm’s run as leader.

SMGDH.

1985?

I wonder if Blade movie will be greenlit and released under the 20th Century Fox banner.

Igor already said on record that Fiege will oversee everything and there won’t be two Marvels.
