I don’t see why Black Panther would be the movie to introduce mutants. The only connection it has with the X-Men franchise is Storm. It can get by with it’s own mythos.

Right now T’Challa has the international connections of social aid, tech and stuff. And is arguibly committed to help oppressed races in need.
In the comics. Before she had any powers. Movie Carol has spent like the last 20 years outside of the planet. Probably has no freaking idea of what’s happening here.
I see BP leading the ‘Earthly stuff’ and Carol the ‘Cosmic stuff’ side of the Avengers.
It’s not like the X-Men don’t have cosmic connections. Carol could have run-ins with the Shi’ar (Death bird was originally her villain) and Ally herself with the Starjammers during that 20 year missing period.

I don’t think they’ll go that route in the MCU, at least in their first three outings or so. I think they’ll focus in Earthly social justice issues and that; they first have to solve that “mutant problem” that is the core of the concept.
Wouldn’t be against a single “cosmic trip” movie, anyway. Starjammers, shi’ar and such; that would be fun. Just no more Dark Phoenix, please.
Personally I never did like the cosmic element of the X-Men. I felt it veered off course to the central concept of the team.
Me neither. But, on its favour, we have never really seen them in the big screen. Still, the Summers family storyline is pretty stupid to me, and also his girlfriend being tied TOO to the Cosmic thing… it’s too much.
If they announced a new X men casting before BP2 is finished plus a certain character gets written out, it is over 50%. But unless both of those things occur, I would say under.
I think I don’t want Nakia to be written out, and probably don’t need Storm to be T’Challa’s romantic interest. Not in the short-medium term, at least.

I think maybe Storm could be Wakandan, and still be the ‘weather goddess’ and such.
We haven’t explored the Wakandan mysticism enough yet, the third part could deal more with that and the ancient Wakandan traditions, in recent comics that has played a big part so they have material to work with.

I kind of just want to start at a base of ethos/mythos, and land squarely at Krakoa, or some such, with the second string.
Am I the only one who thinks maybe they shouldn’t retread old ground with the X-Men?
X-Men are too iconic and too important to the history of marvel to not to.
I don’t think they should be introduced for a long time though. Fantastic Four should be introduced first. Fox has absolutely destroyed them as a brand and tarnished their history and legacy
