IIRC the finale was WB’s and not Patty Jenkins idea. Par for the course when you consider WB wanted to cut the best scene “No Mans Land” from the movie.
I just got back from Cap Marvel
Pros:
The mystery/ non linear setup
The supporting cast esp Lashana Lynch, Sam Jackson, Jude Law, and Annette Bening’s character/acting
The anti aging sfx on Fury/Coulson
The motives/ambitions of the Skrulls
The MCU intro /logo
In between
Action and music
Cons
With the exception of the first 30 min, Brie is kind of bland for most of the film.
There is a pop song played in the climax/final battle that really makes the tone silly.
A revelation about a long standing MCU character is stupid imo.(especially when the tease of it in Winter soldier was more serious)
It’s solid , not bad. I feel if this had been released 15 -20 years ago, I would be more in love, but perhaps I’m getting harder to please after so many comic movies.
Overall: 7/10
So venom is on sale for $10 on iTunes? Is it even worth that? Every trailer or commercial I saw of it made it look like absolute hot garbage.
I mean, it’s a movie I enjoyed only because of the titular character and the relationship with Brock. Beyond that, it’s a maybe.
There is definitely something wrong with this. The triggering is apparent.
It’s only a small number who voted. It’s OK. The salt is real
To that point, there were criticisms that were made about that movie that can count as triggering but there are also those that are valid. At least there are people who (for better or worse) have seen the movie. Captain Marvel is due to ass-ache from Brie Larson’s comments.
The incels are mad.
Critics were paid off.
Depending on your perspective, same could be said here too. Most seem to be a little harsh as we’ve just come to expect a better product from Marvel.
The more I’m hearing, the more I’m seeing it to be more from the butthurt than the bribery in this case. I bet a little of both is in there, though.
I’ve seen more it’s OK critics than saying it’s the best who’d they bribe 5 people?
Either that or they didn’t bribe well enough. “That much of a bribe will get you a C+.”
Oh don’t get me wrong, I am sure that there are people that did not like this movie. However, much of this is due to sodium intake.
Also never been a fan of using RT’s metric solely, considering they are purely positive/negative when it comes to any form of quantifiable grading. Gotta at least use it in conjunction with Metacritic to at least see how much of it is truly “bad review” compared to “ever so slightly under average”.
This movie sucked.
Only Ironman 3 is worse of the MCU ones.
You know a movie is bad when if I add the whole Marvel movies (not the MCU ones) even X-Men 3 was better with it’s bad cheese and legendary cringe that make you laugh.
So much wrong with this movie and is all mostly because the plot is Bizarro World for Capt. Marvel. Unnecessary!!!
The negative troll vote/review bombs that were made before the movie was released were Thanos snapped.
how can you type this and still be alive there is no god X-Men 3 is maximum garbage
The new Marvel credits of course got a cheer. Relatedly, I liked the Special Thanks in the credits to the ~30 writers (artists?) who’d contributed to the heroes.
I didn’t like the time-jumping first … ten minutes. It’s important setup, but you get into the Terry Gilliam’s Brazil “is this the actual reality and actual now” problem. The face CGI has come a long way. I was stoked about the possibility of Monica Rambeau: hopefully we get nextWAVE onscreen at some point. The plot twist of sympathetic Skrulls came out of left field: I had been looking forward to the three evil cow Skrulls being left after the end of this movie. I was sad they didn’t go with eggplant Supreme Intelligence. “Carol wearing a relevant 80s/90s band shirt” was done a little too much. Super Saiyan Captain Marvel seems troublesome as do all overpowered characters: I don’t know how you give her meaningful challenges. Give me movies of troubled heroes in over the head like Hawkeye or Ant-Man.
tldr hey it’s a new marvel of course I liked it <3
Hawkeye and ant man are super boring characters though.
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, our taste clearly don’t align. X-Men 3 was a total irredeemable shit show. It was the Mortal Kombat Annihilation of comic book films. I remember talking about it with my friend that saw it and bitching how they did Psylocke dirty. He was like “Wait, Psylocke was in the movie!?” I’d call it trash, but that would be an insult to trash. I’d rather suffer through the theatrical cut of BvS than watch X-Men 3 ever again.
