Nah I had more fun with this movie than the first Guardians.
Grown Groot > Baby Groot, but that’s about it. Really loved the character development for Yondu and Nebula.
Oh, come on you guys. You’re not giving this a fair chance. Remember, it’s directed by the same dude who did Iron Fist.

I saw GOTG2 last night. Pretty good. I’d say I like it about as much as the first one. Big spoilers though:

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 impressioins:
Pros:
Humor especially Drax
Character development for Star Lord, Yondu, Nebula
Music choices.
final Battle was good and had more personal stakes.
Yondu’s escape. It should have been brutal ,but it was funny.
The twist involving THAT character
ending had some emotional resonance which is a good contrast to all the wacky hijikns that Guardians usually is.
Cons:
The first hour feels a bit disjointed.
I didnt care for the Sovereign aka the Golden People as villains at all.
I wish there was at least one more action scene in the first half. It was a bit too talky.
Gamora was basically the same gruff badass. Hopefully she lets her hair down a bit more next time.
IMO equal to the first (Better in some ways , worse in others)
Overall: 8/10

I don’t think Black Bolt has necessarily to wear the tuning fork on his head every time, considering it’s mostly a battle device. He’s not going to wear it when he’s just chilling with his family.
My suspicion here is that he’ll wear a royal crown with a tuning fork at some point of the series.

I am about halfway through Guardians 2 but it seems all character development just stopped and has been non existent in this movie and the jokes are a lot more miss than hit.
Saw Guardians 2: Electric Boogaloo yesterday. It was entertaining but felt very shallow and completely inferior to the first film. The whole time I got the feeling there was an overwhelming pressure by Marvel to make a more “X-treme!!!” version of what made the first film work, which made everything hit-or-miss. Most notably was the constant slight buildup in tension only to have some comedic pratfall every 5 seconds, even at the most potentially cataclysmic moments; it sucked away any sense of danger. I got the impression they expected it work how it did in The Avengers:
But unlike the Avengers, they ran this slapstick concept into the ground, especially in the last few acts.
[details=Spoiler]The dialogue and certain interactions like Quill “playing catch” with papa Ego felt corny and certain plot points really maxed out my suspension of disbelief meter concerning the logic- like how Ego fashioned himself after humans even though he didn’t discover humans until going reaching earth. The whole film just felt like they were trying to overdo a simple formula that worked by pushing in every dated pop culture reference and comedy schtick possible per minute, making it feel like a teenage redditors GotG fanfiction script of sorts. Fortunately, the visuals, comedy, and action sequences hit the mark enough times that I was willing to overlook these transgressions and enjoy the ride. The after endings and amazing effort they took with the visuals and references was excellent.
But’s let’s be real here, if the first GotG film copied this style, I don’t think the fanfare would’ve been as strong.

GOTG 2 was good, but IMO the first movie was better.
In entertainment factor, action and humor I found the first movie superior, but this new one has more emotional depth, it’s a great complement to the first one.

My biggest peeve of the movie was the Deus ex machina they pulled in the third act to de-power one of the main characters so that he’s back lvl. 1, whoop-de-fucking doo…
