What’s kinda cool about that moment is Tony Stark proved that there is more to being a superhero than just the suit. I’m sure they are going to give Iron Man 3 a call out during that scene.
Venom needs to get started on infinity wars, but just barely. Have the whole crew out in space, middle of the fight Spidey accidentally touches some black shit that apparently fucks him up, Tony feels super guilty for letting him play hero (probably playing off themes that will be present in homecoming). Then either Spidey wakes up black suit and helps fuck up Thanos or after the gang brings his comatose body back to Earth, unable to remove the goo on their own.
Solo movie shit is dumb. The whole point of venom is that he is there to match Spidey tit for tat on abilities, know his identity and weaknesses and simultaneously be someone that he wants to help get free from the symbiote. Without that dynamic he just becomes the Thing (horror movie).
That sounds plausible, but they would also have to introduce Venom’s host body in these movies as well (most likely Eddie Brock aka the more popular Venom). In order for Venom to work, the symbiote has to play off the mutual hatred it has for Spidey with his host, so they would have to establish Brock’s animosity towards Spidey early on, while at the same time setting the antihero tone for him later on (has a strong, yet warped sense of justice)
The easiest thing to do is go with Ultimate Venom’s origin. That way you can cut the symbiote being from space and give Brock a personal connection to Peter.
Probably late on this, a friend of mine said there’s a rumour that Life is a prequel to Venom? :wtf: I’m not exactly clear on the exact origin story of Venom but apparently it’s very similar to the movie. If it’s true this is an excellent piece of marketing and I’ll go see the movie.
I know. I was responding to people shitting on her like it was her fault Sony might take Spider-Man back after the Homecoming sequel drops. The article says what I said before: the decision is out of her hands and Sony MIGHT take Spider-Man back. They’d be stupid to do that if the movies make money, but who knows.
Let’s be fair here: Amy Pascal deserves to be shitted on constantly and consistently, even for shit that she’s not directly responsible for simply for giving Seth Rogen money and green lighting Ghostbusters.
I feel like Venom could work if they just skip the whole superhero origin tale type of movie. Just do a far out Super Violent Action Flick with a super thin plot with Eddie talking to himself acting like the movie has a purpose other than to let us watch Venom fuck shit up. It could be about duality, and the hypocrisy of vigilantism, insert catholic themes, yada fucking yada. Maybe a Spidey cameo/scene where Venom either wrecks him or they stalemate it out. End credits.
Venom isn’t the type of character people will give a shit about unless he’s pre-establish first. If Sony doesn’t want an origin story then he needs to show up somewhere else.
Maybe, Maybe not he’s been literally a different character since the symbiote split with Eddie. He’s been used as team filler where as he used to have solo books and his own merch.
You do realize Venom stopped selling because people got tired of him… That’s why the character has gone through so many changes over the past several years.
The character evolved because he had to… Classic Venom is a product of his era, and unlike say, Wolverine, there isn’t a strong enough character to hold up after the novelty of “evil Spider-Man” wore out it’s welcome.
OG Venom is basically every “dark” or “evil” pallet swap FG character… He’s Evil Ryu with none of the charm… and Evil Ryu isn’t all that charming to begin with.
