I was sick last week and binged Avengers Assemble and GotG.
Avengers Assemble is gutter trash, Guardians is solid, decent mix of movie and DnA Guardians, some stuff from Bendis’ run, mostly J’son and some small nods to 70’s Star-Lord.
I believe he was referring more to how the mutants were originally created as a parallel to the civil rights movement, but they never really adapted the original story to modern times and the persecution mindset humanity has for mutants doesn’t make that much sense considering how many super powered individuals exist in the comic world at the present time. Are mutants that much of a problem when you have heroes like Tony Stark who could completely shut down the armies of every single nation on earth with a few clicks of some buttons? The X-men story line would make more sense if mutants were the only super powered individuals in their world, then humanity’s fear and hatred of them would seem more believable.
I figured the end of Avengers 1 all but confirmed the character death to be in Marvel Studio’s hands. Thanos’ crony says to challenge the avengers is to court death itself, and Thanos turns and smiles. I mean, it could be a cop out but I’m hopeful.
