(I thought a Planet Hulk movie was already scheduled in MCU’s proposed movie line-up?)
Also, if Guardians of the Galaxy is any indication, then MCU already technically has access to the Celestials. Otherwise, yeah, a lot more of the cosmic aspects of Marvel are tied at least tangentially to the Fantastic Four than the X-Men, though aside from Galactus and the Silver Surfer, you don’t technically need the Fantastic Four around for any of them. Hell, Drax in the comic books is–was?–heavily related to Galactus whereas in the MCU he’s basically the same character in name only.
Marvel can’t do a solo Hulk movie because Universal still has the distribution rights for solo Hulk films. Marvel tossing Hulk fans a bone by making him a major character on the third Thor movie.
Drax is heavily related to Thanos. He became the way he was for the sole purpose of killing him.
Ugh. Is there some easy go to source of information of who owns what Marvel property as far as movie rights as concerned? This shit is so needlessly confusing, especially given that like 90% of the businesses in America are owned by six fucking companies anyway.
Universal = Solo Hulk (Marvel has rights to use in ensembles)
Sony = Spider-Man (Sony/Marvel have similar deal to Hulk but on more tentative level)
Fox = Fantastic Four/X-Men (FF may transfer over due to likely lack of interest from failings)
I thought there were rumors of a Planet Hulk film but I don’t know if it’s official.
I know how they could do it too. Hulk asks Thor to send him to some dimension where he can’t hurt anyone. Thor complies but accidentally sends him somewhere that isn’t quite as isolated as he thought. Planet Hulk movie plays out then Hulk comes back with some badass aliens to help fight Thanos in Infinity War.
I thought of that in like a minute so I’m sure there are holes in it but I think a PH movie could fit in pretty easily.
There’s also some Avengers characters Fox has a hold of. Fox has Kang the Conqueror for some retard reason. Fox also had Taskmaster until recently. The character was in Deadpool’s early script and Fox forced them to drop the character over budget concerns. Not allowing them to use the character got Taskmaster back in Marvel’s hands. There’s a bunch of legal red tape surrounding Namor it’s ridiculous.
Well he does, and that’s the exact reason why they do. You can argue against it all you like, regardless of how correct your reasoning is, that’s the way it is.
