They did that so they can sell the movie in China. If they keep the Ancient one Tibetan the film would of been outright rejected by the Chinese Government. Typically the Chinese only allows 32 to 34 foreign movies in each year, and each movie has to be screen by the government censors first.
Like the Alive action Mulan getting a pass as it’s a story set in China with a Chinese Folk Hero and the main lead is Chinese (and she is a supporter of Chineses Policy).

I’ve never claimed to be an authority on Marvel characters. I only said what I said because I wasn’t aware that Task Master could do that. The thing is though is allot of Marvel characters have been nerfed compared to their comic counter parts. As far as Marvel Villains getting waxed, they did cover in universe that people can get revived.
Although it’s not 100% clear how, and there many different ways of going about it.
Like How Gamora is back with a weird technicality, as time travel shenanigans were involved.
I would mention Agents of Shield, but that show departed from avengers so far ago that the two may as well be different timelines.
