The players are in no particular order

S+ Tier

Overlord of the 5 Gods of Marvel

AGE Chris G- 3rd/2nd/1st/1st/1st/2nd/1st/1st

Morrigan/Doom/Vergil - 10/10 Team Strength

Completely air tight team with full synergies and a way to make just about anything safe via meter. Works in generally any order but is really most about Morrigan. Top 5 team in the game right now. Morrigan with Hidden Missiles is top tier enough by itself and this team also comes attached with a top tier anchor who can make great use of Hidden Missiles to lock down if needed. Can also work with Vergil 2nd for TODs off of Morrigan confirms.

Dedication: Very competitive in 4 other games but Marvel is his main game. Fatigue may become a factor/spread too thin.

-Very low chance of getting randomed out
-Very good work ethic (he practices combos while being jamming bombed by MODOK)
-Prone to mental lapses/very emotional

Needs to watch out for: Flocker, Rog and Champ. His biggest weakness is the unknown (players he has not fought before with some sort of strategy that can catch him off guard). This applies to everyone but ChrisG more so than the rest of the gods

S Tier

4 Lower Gods of Marvel

Col. Filipino Champ- 1st/5th/NA/3rd/9th/4th/NA/25th (sandbagging!)

Magneto/Dormammu/Doom - 9/10 Team Strength

Mag + Doom is a beast, Dorm + Doom is an even bigger threat but there are a few holes in this team. Dorm not having an air hyper like the teams above means he has less ways of getting out of sticky situations. Furthermore Dorm does not have a great assist to bring to the table, his Liberation assist is situational at best. In this team you have to play with Dorm as your last chance, you can’t afford to play for Doom anchor. As far as Dorm teams go this is one of the best ones because he makes great use out of both teams. The reason why Dorm is second is because he likes to come in with Stalking Flare and already set up in his zoning rather than having to create space from the start which Magneto does better.

Dorm/Morrigan/Doom - 9/10 Team Strength

Another excellent Dorm team. Dorm is one of the best meter users in the game and he makes great use out of Dark Harmonizer. With either Morrigan or Dorm second you can easily start off of an offense with a safe DHC into either AV or Stalking Flare. Morrigan doesn’t get much out of Dorm so she is better off in second place after Dorm dies

Dedication: Marvel is like his wife

  • Will be ultra focused at defending his championship
  • Unbeatable work ethinc/Will have tons of practice against the majority of the cast/FGTV House
  • His pride is a detriment

Needs to watch out for: The other 4 Marvel Gods/ Wolverine & Zero

EG Justin Wong- 7th/5th/3rd/7th/4th/3rd/NA/3rd

Wolverine/Storm/Akuma - 7/10 Team strength

Wolverine still synergizes extremely well with Akuma. Storm’s assist does not help out Wolverine at all which is a huge oversight in this team. She is just there for two supportive purposes, the powerful DHC option and the TAC infinites. She makes some use out of Tatsu which she can make use of defensively or offensively. Akuma while a solid anchor is not top tier in that position, he is out classed by a few characters. If Storm + Akuma are stranded with limited resources it’s an uphill battle most of the time but with resources (meter and/or XF) they can wreck a lot of teams.

Wolverine/Spencer/Frank - 6/10 Team strength

This team’s major fault is that this team has a terrible anchor. Because this team has very unoptimized ways to get Frank to LVL4, he will be fighting as LVL1 most of the time especially in anchor which is essentially a free character to the opposition. Wolverine can make solid use out of both assists and Spencer can make good use out of Frank West too but Spencer does not have a completely safe DHC and neither does Frank unlike Storm and Akuma who had completely safe DHCs. Also none of the characters on this team can properly zone, where as Justin’s other team have Storm and Akuma who can play basic keep away. You play for Spencer XF2 on this team if Wolverine dies.

Dedication: Very competitive in 2 other games but Marvel is the game he is best in. Refuses to get a better team

  • Very consistent (top 8 at all majors) Won’t give up
  • Supposedly has secret team/tech for evo
  • His teams are weak compared to others/ Can lose at select screen

Needs to watch out for MorriDoom teams (Chris G/ Xian/J Rosa) and Zero teams

EG PR Rog- NA/1st/2nd/13th/7th/5th/NA/2nd

Wolverine/Doom/Vergil - 10 Team strength

An optimized Wolverine team with an excellent assist in Plasma Beam which combo breaks because of where it appears in relation to the point character. Rapid Slash also works great for Wolverine. Vergil makes great use out of Plasma Beam and of course is the main anchor. Another end game team.

Dedication: Very Very competitive in 1 other game

  • Very consistent (top 8 at 5 majors)
  • Very very offensive minded player. Plays a yolo style. When he gets momentum, he is a steamroller
  • His offensive play style can work against him

Needs to watch out for: the other Marvel gods/ Trish players (Green Ace/Disgruntled Goa)

VxG Emp Flocker- 5th/NA/NA/2nd/NA/1st/NA/4th

Zero/Vergil/Strider - 9/10 Team strength

The only main problem with this team is that it’s a Zero team without Jam Session. Other than that this team is pretty damn good. Zero does get combos off of Vajra and it allows him some dirty mix ups in the corner (just not as good as Jam Session). Vergil is a terror with Vajra as everyone knows. This team allows you to play 3 of the best solo characters in the game. Zero can kill all teams by himself, so can XF2 Vergil and XF3 Strider.

Zero/Vergil/Hawkeye - 7.5/10 Team strength

A much weaker team than the above. No vertical assist means the team is susceptible to offense from flier characters. Hawkeye while a solid anchor and assist character is not comparable to Strider who is both a top tier anchor and supplies a top tier assist. Vergil makes great use out of the Arrows but Zero gets limited mileage out of the assist.

Dedication: Plays other games but Marvel is his main one,

-Extremely consistent (placed top 8 in every major he attended)

  • Best zero

Needs to watch out for MorriDoom teams but he has multiple counters

A Tier

VxG Emp Yipes- 17th at Evo/4th at WB/13th at ECt/17th at CEO

Spencer/Vergil/Hawkeye - 7/10

This is essentially Flocker’s team but with Spencer instead of Zero. Flocker’s team is slightly better because it has Zero instead of Spencer but Spencer utilizes Hawkeye’s assist better than Zero does so overall those two teams end up being on the same level. Spencer has a combo extender/mix up assist and a get in assist with the arrows. There is no vertical assist on the team and once Spencer folds, the other two characters are free to incoming mix ups. The anchor potential is there though if the last two characters are allowed to play. Any touch of Spencer is a TOD as even if he can’t kill the character himself, Vergil’s DHC can do the job for him.

Dante/Vergil/Magneto - 8/10

This is a team which functions in any order and is a very solid overall team. Dante can be used with any assist on this team but is usually played with Crystal assist for Vergil combos and Magneto mix ups. Disruptor is a great assist for both Dante and Vergil, Rapid Slash is not all that bad for Vergil. Any touch of Dante will lead into a TOD because of Vergil on second. This team is just very susceptible to Wolverine rushdown as Dante does not do well against that character at the start. All 3 characters are capable anchors so XF benefits the team a lot.

Dedication. Marvel is only game but does not practice as much. Gets by on skill

-Has the skill to make top 8 and beat any top player
-Clearly does not care about the game

MH RayRay- 5th at Final Round/17th at ECT/5th at CEO

Mag/Doom/Sent - 8/10 Team strength

A team that is fully optimized for on point Magneto. You have a fast punch through assist option in Plasma Beam plus you have Drones which is Magneto’s best assist because he gets absurd mix ups from it. You also get option of two types of TAC infinites for Magneto, in fact you get TAC infinites no matter which character you TAC from or into. All characters have a generally safe DHC in, either from the air or from the ground. You also have option of Hidden Missiles with Doom for Magneto or Sentinel. Doom with Drones is pretty decent too. The main problem with this team is that it’s a bit front heavy, Doom and Sentinel aren’t the best anchors around obviously. Plus since all the characters are fliers it makes them all susceptible to a one dimensional strategy mainly something like a Vajra or a Hawkeye team. Both Doom and Sentinel have lots of bad match ups that can bite this team in the ass when Magneto dies.

Dedication: Marvel is only game

-Best Sentinel and top 3 Magneto
-Can hit confirm off any hit
-First Evo (possibility for nerves getting to him)
-Training at FGTV House

MH Moons- 4th at Final Round/17th at ECT

Nova/MODOK/Ammy - 8/10 Team strength

This is a team with a lot of interesting tech. Nova gets big damage off of DHCs into MODOK. Both characters get a powerful lock down assist for mix ups. MODOK provides safe DHCs option, TAC combos and even a safe DHC out from the air or on the ground with the invincible grab. MODOK’s Beam assist helps out Nova. Ammy is a solid anchor by herself. The problem with this team is no vertical coverage and MODOK’s Beam isn’t a great assist because it passes over most crouching characters. It does not utilize some assists that are best for MODOK like Vajra, Drones or Missiles so MODOK has a hard time zoning with this team… this team gets very strong when it’s in your face and rushing you down but as a zoning team it’s not that strong.

Dedication: Marvel is only game

  • Best Nova
  • If Nova dies, the Modok/Ammy shell is not as strong
  • First Evo (possibility of nerves getting to him)
  • Training at FGTV House

Kane Blue River- 9th at Final Round/5th at NCR/13th at ECT/4th at UFGT

Hulk/Haggar/Sentinel - 10 at the first 5 seconds of the game, 6/10 otherwise

This team is an “all in” gambit team. When it works it works like a charm but when it doesn’t it gets exposed rather easily. Hulk with Lariat cannot be contested by any team or character composition at the start of the round, not even Wolverine can do anything about it. Once characters have set up their zoning or created distance, this team is very easy to zone out. There is no long ranged horizontal or vertical coverage on this team, it’s optimized around Hulk getting the first hit or mix up and killing off of it. Any approach the characters make is risky and they have a bunch of very unsafe moves or hypers. There are no good anchors on this team either. It has big damage and it’s nearly impossible to rushdown against this team but it’s very susceptible to zoning/keep away.

Dedication: Fairly competitive in 1 other game but Marvel is main game

  • Can steamroll people very fast if the player is unfamiliar with the team
  • Susceptible to strong keep away teams

Goldenboy Neo- 7th at Final Round/2nd at NCR/13th at ECT/13th at CEO

Mag/Doom/Phoenix - 8/10

Arguably one of the best Phoenix teams out there. TAC infinites from Mag to Doom allow for easy 5 meters. If Phoenix wasn’t such a liability this team would be a 9 or a 10 even. The team does not work in any other order and Phoenix’s assist is just combo extending tier because using it in the neutral is suicide. Pressure from Magneto’s tri dash offense and Hidden Missiles allow for meter build even when you aren’t getting hits on them.

Dedication: Marvel is only game. Takes it seriously

  • Very consistent with Doom infinite
  • Wins more with Mag/Doom than with Phoenix (His Phoenix/Dark Phoenix is not as threatening as Champs)
  • Training at FGTV House

Mcz Tokido- Did not attend any majors

Magneto/Doom/Phoenix (see Goldenboy Neo)

Dedication: Very competitive in many other games and Marvel is not his priority

  • Arguably Japan’s best player
  • May not take Marvel as seriously as he does Street Fighter/SFxT

GC Apologyman- 25th at EVO/4th at SCR/13th at NCR

Firebrand/Skrull/Doom - 9/10 Team strength

Firebrand + Skrull alone is a 7-8/10 alone. It’s a fully featured unblockable team, nothing more needs to be said because one hit means 3 potential characters dead on paper which is an end game strategy. Both characters can make decent use out of Plasma Beam assist and Doom provides a safe DHC and TAC infinites if needed. Skrull can be used anchor if needed. Even if Firebrand dies, you can bank on Skrull + Doom which is not a bad duo.

Skrull/Frank/Doom - 7/10

This team gets Frank to LVL4 very easily but it’s very front heavy. Skrull dying early means the rest of the team is very easy to dismantle. LVL1 Frank plus Doom is not impressive. If this team gets the first touch though it becomes like 9.5ish because Frank with Tenderizer and Plasma Beam is brutal for any team. Skrull makes good usage out of both assists but it’s not a team about him, it’s a team about Frank West and in that regard it’s not even the best Frank team out there.

Dedication: Plays multiple anime games but Marvel is main game for now. Stated that he is dropping marvel after Evo.

  • Very intelligent and observant player (see his match vs Champ in top 8 at SCR/ Frank West snapback + x-factor)
  • Prone to lose matchups against characters he is unfamiliar with
  • Training at FGTV House

Ranmasama- 3rd at NCR/2nd at UFGT/9th at CEO

Haggar/Dorm/Magneto - 8/10

Team works in every order. This team has a good mix of rushdown, grappling, anti-rushdown and zoning/keep away strats on it. Haggar on the team ensures the other player has to be careful about rushing down while Dormammu can both zone with Lariat as a defense and EMD to get in or rushdown with. Magneto as anchor is solid and Dorm can hold it down too if needed. This team is not really optimized for Dorm or Magneto but it’s a functional one for them. The only other weakness on this team is that there is no vertical coverage but Dorm can generally handle those types of characters.

Dedication: Only plays Marvel

  • Very very strong with each character and can make comebacks with all 3 characters in x-factor
  • Incredible movement with Magneto

MH IGT Unknown- 5th at WB/7th at ECT/3rd at UFGT/5th at CEO

Wesker/Sentinel/Viper - 4/10

A below average team. First of all I don’t even think Sentinel should be on this team, if Strider was in instead of Sentinel this team would be at least a 6/10 maybe a 7. The reason being is that Wesker and Viper both get great mileage out of Vajra. Wesker gets nothing out of Viper outside of a mediocre assist. Viper gets absolutely nothing from Wesker aside from a crummy OTG assist. Both Wesker and Viper have to make use out of the Drones but because they are both designed as point characters it doesn’t work out. Wesker on point gets a neutral assist and a combo extender assist… that is adequate but when Wesker dies this team falls apart fast. Sentinel at least gives the team a chance to play but when he is play he has to try to get in Viper safely which is no easy task given Viper has no safe DHC options. This is a huge fault in the team. Neither Viper nor Sentinel are strong anchors in fact the best anchor on this team is the point! Wesker also gets limited damage potential and only have the option of Sentinel TAC infinites for extended damage. This team also lacks vertical coverage which is a big weakness of both Wesker and Viper. Out of all the top players out now who place, this is easily one of the worst teams that consistently places top 8.

Dedication: Marvel is only game

  • Leveled up tremendously in the past few months (very strong with all characters)
  • Semi-consistent with Sentinel infinites
  • Prone to emotional/angry outbursts

Drew Grimey- 13th at Evo/9th at NCR

Viper/Vergil/Strider - 9/10 or 9.5/10 or 10/10 Team strength

The only reason why this team isn’t a 10 is because this team does not have Jam Session on it which is Viper’s favorite assist for unblockables. Even then it has Vajra which is Viper’s second favorite assist and gets the job done almost as well. Any one of Viper’s hit leads into TOD thanks to Vergil sword DHC. If Viper dies the team can still bank on two powerful anchor characters to pick up the slack. This team might be end game stuff but it’s hard to say really, I think if it was Dante instead of Vergil I might have gave it a 10. If someone says this is end game I can’t really contest it, this team is pristine.

Dedication: Marvel is only game

  • Semi-consistent with Viper unblockables
  • Can actually control x-factor 3 Strider
  • Training at FGTV House

GU Green Ace- 7th at WB/7th at CEO

Trish/Wesker/Dante - 5/10 Team strength

This team really isn’t optimized for any character. It’s essentially about two things… the Peakaboo assist and the unblockable set ups. The unblockable set ups aren’t free and they require the whole team in tact with Trish on point for them to work. Once a character dies, no more unblockables. Wesker has only one combo extension and Trish has two very close ranged assists to use meaning she can’t play the full range of her zoning game. This makes the damage potential on this team low compared to other teams. Trish can’t TOD without an unblockable set up and neither can Wesker without TACing into Trish (who is usually dead if Wesker is out). Dante anchor is solid though but no mater what way you see this team, it requires resources to be effective. This team is just extremely average, just played by someone who knows every in and out of this team. Note that this team can be played in more than one way but there is hardly any version of this team that would be more than a 6/10.

Dedication: Only plays marvel. Hungry to be recognized as a top player

  • Very consistent with Trish unblockable & very strong anchor Dante
  • Trish keepaway is awkward for people to deal with

Dig. Zak Bennet- International player

Firebrand/Doom/Ammy - 8/10

Doom + Ammy is one of the best supportive shells in the game so any team with those two on it is at least a 6-7. Firebrand gets a lot of mileage out of Cold Shots and Plasma Beam or Missiles. More importantly Doom provides Firebrand with raw tag combos which greatly ups the damage potential of Firebrand. There are quite a few ways to set up unblockables on this team but no where close to the level of Tenderizer unblockables. If Firebrand’s unblockables were guaranteed on this team, it would be a 9 or a 10 team.

  • Top 3 international player
  • While being unfamiliar is advantageous, he may not have experience against certain characters/matchups

MJ Frutsy- 5th at Evo last year/ 5th at Seasons Beatings Ascension last year/ Did not attend any majors

MODOK/Captain America/Taskmaster - 4/10

A very middling team. If MODOK needs to get out, you have to DHC all the way to Taskmaster for a safe get out because Captain America has no safe DHCs as he is a point character. There isn’t big damage on this team because all 3 have limited combo extending potential with the assists provided. There is only horizontal coverage on this team, no vertical. Cap and Task have very limited mix up potential and they have no assist to help them open up the opponent. Neither Task nor Cap are great anchors. You can do decent zoning on this team but its prone to getting rushed down or even zoned out. Only MODOK provides substantial TAC combos and he’s the point on this team.

-Unorthodox playstyle

Denial Dios X- 1st at Curleh Mustache West Coast

Doom/Storm/Sentinel - 8/10

On paper this looks like just a team of 3 supportive characters however Doom gets great mileage out of Drones and he is backed up by a safe DHC. All characters are TAC infinites. Sentinel or Storm with Hidden Missiles is not that bad at all, someone like Sentinel with Missiles can even keep out Vergil if need to for a limited time. Doom builds good meter from zoning and combos to save up for Storm hypers. Doom with Drones can zone out a lot of characters even Zero. The anchor potential on this team is a bit weak but still functional.

  • Not very flashy but very efficient
  • Looks to head into EVO strong with recent win at West Coast Curleh Mustache

Killer Kai- 13th at NCR/2nd at West Coast Curleh Mustache

Zero/Vergil/Taskmaster - 7/10

This is essentially the exact same team as Flocker’s team just replacing Taskmaster with Hawkeye. Hawkeye is a better anchor than Taskmaster but Taskmaster is able to survive rushdown better than Hawkeye so it evens out in the end. There isn’t much I can add here, you can read the Flocker part for a similar breakdown.

  • Very consistent with lightning loops
  • Just picked up Vergil recently
  • Looks to head into Evo strong with 2nd place finish at West Coast Curleh Mustache

Angelic- 7th at SCR/3rd at West Coast Curleh Mustache

Wolverine/Dormammu/Shuma - 7.5-8/10

This is a surprisingly optimum Wolverine team. Mystic Ray boosts Wolverine offense tremendously, allowing him combos off of Berserker Slash, vertical full screen coverage and even some defensive support as the assist comes far behind the point character much like Plasma Beam. The assist is even useful for combo extending for Wolverine from throws so he can use both Mystic Ray and Dark Hole for combo extension. Dorm also gets good support from Mystic Ray although he gets nothing from Wolverine. Shuma is a decent anchor but you really have to play for Dorm if Wolverine dies.

  • Very clean Wolverine rush-down oriented playstyle paired with rarely seen Shuma Gorath assist will catch others off guard
  • Terrifying Shuma anchor with x-factor

AGE Knives-13th at Evo/ 9th at SCR/9th at ECT

Spencer/Sentinel/Akuma - 7/10

This team is a very rare team in which it’s one point and 2 assist characters. That may have worked in MVC2 but in MVC3 you can only afford one assist character at best. While this team is obviously very optimized for Spencer, it falls off when Spencer dies. Spencer can grapple off of Tatsu confirms while using it defensively and he can use Drones for combo extensions and mix ups. Sentinel can use Tatsu effectively and Akuma can use Drones but neither is a top tier duo that is a huge threat

  • Arguably best Spencer.
  • Strong Akuma anchor

MC X-Ray- Placed 17th at SCR and 7th at NCR (7th at Evo 2011 for Vanilla Marvel)

Magneto/Doom/Ammy - 9/10

Another very optimized Magneto team. Magneto gets the option of either Plasma Beam or Missiles from Doom and TAC infinites while also having Cold Shots for those tridash mix ups. Doom + Ammy is one of the best supportive shells in the game.

  • Best Ammy
  • Practicing at FGTV all week

Nemo- Did not attend any majors

Nova/Spencer/ Dr Strange-9/10

Nova and Spencer are near BFF status, the Wire Grapple assist leads to big damage for Nova and they both DHC back and forth with each other. Nova’s assist provide soft unblockable set ups and combo extensions for both characters. Bolts is an excellent assist for both Nova and Spencer. Wire Grapple benefits Strange a lot, both for incoming mix ups and big combo extensions but Strange is usually the anchor or a safe way to get Spencer in or to pile on the damage after Nova opens someone up, this team is not optimized for Strange. The only problem with the team is that it’s a bit tricky to get Dr Strange in as he lacks a safe DHC in but that is sort of negated by the fact that one of his hypers is SoV which has great utility.

  • Arguably Japan’s best player
  • Extremely consistent with Flames of the Faltine Loops
  • Claims to have saved secret tech for Evo

CDV WhiteBl4ck- Placed 25th at last years Evo. 2nd at World Game Cup.

Vergil/Taskmaster/Wesker - 9/10

Essentially the same as the Vergil/Magneto/Wesker team. This team can be played in any order which is always a good thing. It’s best to play this team with Wesker on point as he can get TODs with Vergil DHCs. Vergil with a horizontal assist plus XF2 is always potent. You can also choose to play for XF3 Vergil with Taskmaster second or point Vergil with OTG extension from Wesker. It’s only not a 10/10 because there is no vertical coverage on this team and limited TAC capabilities

  • Very intelligent European player
  • Will probably be feeling very confident after winning NLBC this past week (beat Chris G and Flux)

** Dieminion**- 7th at ECT/Won Toryuken

Viewtiful Joe/Strange/Morrigan - 5/10

This is a very unoptimized team for all 3 characters. Joe is a great character and makes good usage out of Bolts but the meter assist is wasted on him… it’s really just meter being built to get Morrigan in safely with a bunch of meter for AV. Even then because this team has no vertical coverage, there are many holes in which you can attack Morrigan. Strange has no defensive or neutral assist, he is a pure assist character on this team. The damage potential is very low on this team, only Strange can do real damage if he somehow gets someone with an XF combo or in the corner. Morrigan is a mediocre anchor as well. This team only functions because Joe and Morrigan are great zoning characters by themselves and there is a great assist in the form of Bolts on the team as well as meter surplus due to Dark Harmonizer.

  • Plays very very very strong keepaway style with very unorthodox team.
  • Very frustrating to play against

The Best Of The Rest

Interesting read
Minor adjustment, but I’d say zak’s team is a 9(at least). What he loses in unblockables he compensates with a team that’s not so-so when fbrand dies while apology man’s team is kind of questionable when his firebrand dies in comparison. Most firebrand users (including apologyman) have said that firebrand/doom/ammy is the best firebrand team as well.
Just my take on it

edit: Apologyman plays skrull last not second

Yeah he did…KVO x Godsgarden x Acho was a Road to Evo2k13 major, in which he got second place.

Also I think Kazunoko got very good at this game at a short amount of time…very dangerous player right now. He also got second at South East Asia tournament.

Nice work, interesting read

Cool read, love stuff like this, kudos for writing it. But I think you gotta throw flux in A tier.

I want to see Moons take it he’s just such an awesome player to watch his level of execution is truly impressive but I do think he is just A tier I might get ridiculed for saying this but I don’t think he’s cheap enough with the way he plays this game. But I hope him or Yipes takes it.

EM Pony is a threat too, mexican player, has been dominating the mexican tourney scene for a couple of months and has taken out players such as DiosX and KaneBlueRiver with relative dominance. IIRC Frutsy hasn’t been able to take him down for a while, the man is seeded too thanks to Japonawa.

Also, apparently Frutsy has a new team, he hasn’t posted footage of it but some people claim to have seen it in action. Just a head’s up.

I got curious after reading about “whiteblack” as I never heard of him, and Sabin recently uploaded this, so if you haven’t seen this, I’m leaving it here:

KaneBlueRiver’s style is really good

Dorm/Morrigan/Doom is a 7/10. Terrible horizontal coverage unless you choose Plasma Beam, which takes away the pressure options of both Dorm/Missiles and Morrigan/Missiles. The DHC potential of Dorm -> Morrigan isn’t very safe either, the THC is decent if you pick anything but Liberation.

I’d say it’s an 8/10 at least: Morrigan assist gives you meter for chaotic flame, which can function as horizontal coverage, DHCing from chaotic flame or stalker flare to AV is pretty safe, you have great TAC’s, and you have Dormadoom and Morridoom on the same team. It bruteforces its way through its flaws.

Read it all by accident.
You forgot Spooky’s team by the way.

[details=Spoiler] It’s a 10/10
Can stream all games solo
The best anchor in the FGC
Can play offensively and defensively
X Factor never runs out
His X Factor turns him gold.
Synergy with every character in the FGC.
Probably highest stamina in the game
Best assist in the game

Downsides
-There’s only one Spooky

Chaotic Flame is unreliable as horizontal coverage. It is mainly used on reads to catch flight startup, punishes that are absolutely certain (like blocked EM Disruptor L), or a GTFO move to punish button pressing. It doesn’t compensate for the poor durability of Dark Matter like any good beam assist.

DHCing from Stalking Flare is almost always unsafe unless the opponent is already in blockstun or is at a bad angle that leaves Dorm unpunishable. DHCing from Chaotic Flame is also unreliable because it is a non-tracking hyper that doesn’t have full screen coverage.

To the contrary, this team cannot “bruteforce its way” through anything. It’s a very fragile team composition that depends on you being outright better than your opponent to win. Any decent rushdown team with a horizontal beam assist beats it badly. You might as well not have Dorm at all and put a better support behind Morrigan/Doom.

Yeah I really wish that team had real top tier synergy but really its just two good shells put together that play the same way. Dorm needs that tracking pillar assist a la blackheart.

After watching Champs pop-off after his exhibition against Infrit, I hope he doesn’t even make it out of pools. I know he will, but the cockyness he displays after hardly winning anything in the year that has past since Evo '12 takes him to another level of “heel”

Awesome read, though I feel Champ’s Phoenix team is worth mentioning. Also not sure I agree with many of the team rankings but hey, opinions.

Wowwww! Hahaha. Thanks so much for putting this together, guys. To someone like me who doesn’t play Marvel but enjoys watching it, that entire post is pumpkin pie.

this evo it’s either going to be Chrisg taking it or some zero team knocking him out early giving random results.

truthfully, i think chrisg is the only sure bet at evo this year. everyone else is a toss up afaic. personally, i have a strong feeling fchamp will get randomed out by somebody in pools or top 32. hoping that doesn’t happen though.

excellent job by fchamp. happy he didn’t get randomed. the rest of top8 is still pretty random though, as expected.
