Marvel nemesis 2 got rushed down. ROMed and then snapped out

^^^^If Capcom would make a 2D sequel, they’d either make entirely new sprites or go the 2.5 D route.

the game is called sf HD remix

get it, HD

if its not at least 720p it’s not HD

MARVEL VS CAPCOM 3 NOW! Capcom get on it!

And here I go clicking on it hoping for news and instead it’s a reword of the article posted in the OP.

I guess Marvel knew that sh*t was hitting the fan because of the talk that gamasutra had with Justin Lambros. I posted a couple of weeks ago on this topic and how Justin wanted MvC to be released as a digital d/l. This interview with Gamasutra happened back in September of last year.

Sony and Microsoft have a good working relationship in the PC sector (Sony’s Vaio division and MS’ Windows division).

Only SCE and MS Game Studios are at odds.

Okay, maybe the BDA and MS’ Digital Downloads, but that’s pushing it, since MS’ VC-1 is already used in BD.

I would love to see a MvC3, that would make it one of my most anticipated games if it was to ring true in the near future. Honestly, I don’t know if you could ever make another broken, yet extremely open and successful game engine like MvC2.

For me, “if” there was a MvC3, Dante is a must if there a MvC3, no if’s or and’s period. I would love to see Samanosuke as well in full blown 2-D sprites, being able to wield at least his 3 main elemental weapons from the game as regular specials or what not, and possibly his Super Specials could be him unleashing his Ultimate Weapon…that to me would be too good.

Was always hoping to see Zero in a MvC3, and if possible…maybe put Sagat in MvC3 as well, because I’ve always wondered how things like Tiger Genocide or a Tiger shot would look like in a MvC3 like fighting game.

For Marvel, I would personally like to see Jean Grey being playable, since she’s one of my favorite females in Marvel period. Maybe they could possibly make her a Sub-Boss or something as the Phoenix instead which would be fun.

Of course these would be just “what if’s” but still, the fact that EA is no longer making shitty Marvel games, I can at least hope that Marvel will look to Capcom once again, since those where the times when Marvel games where actually worth my time and effort.

I’d rather look at Capcom’s 2-D sprites of the Marvel characters then look at EA’s ugly and horrid rendition’s of the Marvel characters…gah…:wasted:

I’m not ready to start killing myself with the thought that MvC3 could happen just because of this.

But it raises the chances of MvC1 and 2 being re-published which is huge enough of it’s own.
I don’t know how much current gen discs hold but…
…If they get released on a disc, it needs to be a collection. With all the games including XCOTA and MSH.

Online play? That’s stretching it. Could the games work on it?

Of course mvc3 would play nothing like mvc2. Just like most of the marvel fighters that where created by capcom. Which is a good thing… mvc2 is def one in a kind. Its as close to trying to prove the big bang theory as you can get.

BTW, Marvel Nemesis on paper was an amazing idea with zero chance of failure. (get marvel characters in a free roam arena, have them fly around, throw cars at each other knock each other 20 feet into the air)

Which is why it’s so sad the game ended up sucking as bad as it did.

Blu-Ray discs hold 60gb of memory. A collection would be one disc. Imagine, they fit all the Alpha games onto one disc plus Pocket Fighter.

The problem is though, the process of increasing the resolution for HDTVs. And since that’s not worth the money for Capcom, DVD9 it is. For the PS2.

Edit- Just to address Dencore’s HD situation:

Assassin’s Creed had an output of 480i and the max was 1080i. It looked pretty meh on my TV that outputs 1080p. While it cuts corners, you can still notice the pixels in certain areas of the game. The game would have to be made at the minimum output of 720p in order for it to look HD. Something Uncharted did and it looked amazing.

And Polarity said the STHD project is exceeding RAM. A lot goes into account when making an HD compatible game. Its not that easy since people can tell the difference between SDTVs and HDTVs.

Anybody got a link saying that Marvel vs Capcom was coming to Xbox Live Arcade?

I wasn’t aware that Capcom already announced Marvel vs. Capcom 3 HD Remix.

Believe me I’m not challenging either of you how much RAM the HD factor would use or the look of HD. I’m just saying the game wouldn’t have to be HD as some other games on the next-generation hardware consoles weren’t fully in HD or the fact that the Nintendo Wii doesn’t display HD at all.

Don’t get me wrong I 100% agree with both of you that the game would take a lot of RAM as well as the game wouldn’t look truly HD, but there’s nothing forcing Capcom to making a full HD game in the first place.

Upperdeck has a CCG called Vs, that has both Marvel and DC characters. Wizkids makes a tapletop strategy game called Heroclix that also uses both properties to mix and match teams. both games are still in production and being played today, even though Dc and Marvel are not BFF’s right now.

So, I’m going to still keep hope alive that DC vs Marvel game will come someday.

That’s true. Though yeah the hate is currently pretty strong. It may just be for comics though as different departments handle different things. The last time Marvel approached DC with a Daredevil / DC crossover story, Paul Levitz shot it down and refuses to do anything with Marvel until Joe Quesada resigns. JQ went pretty hard after DC to bring the Marvel vs. DC rivalry back, DC took some of it personal, actually some of it was personal! He was kind of right though, both of them put out better comics when they are trying to outdo each other unlike the 90s when we were treated with pretty bad crossovers…

Here’s what the Marvel characters have been up to since MVC2. Of course we don’t know whether there will be an MVC3 or not or even if it will use any of Marvel’s current storylines, but this is just for fun. Hey what’s the point of being SRK’s resident comic book moderator if I can’t come through with possibly useless posts like this now and then! This is off the top of my head and there may be mistakes and / or things I don’t know about, feel free to add or correct whenever necessary.

Oh, and below their are MASSIVE spoilers so if you are really behind in your reading please look away look away… I’d use tags but it’s like one thing helps explain another thing and so on so…

Blackheart - Killed by Ghost Rider

Cable - Long story but Scarlet Witch cast a spell where she said “No More Mutants” reducing the Mutant population to about 200 people. Not even new Mutants are being born! However, there was one new Mutant baby that was born and everyone wanted their hands on it. The Marauders for Mr. Sinister’s experimenting, some Anti-Mutant Humans so they could kill the baby and the X-Men and the Acolytes to recruit the baby (Acolytes eventually teamed up with the Marauders after a bit). Anyway Cyclops left the baby in Cable’s care after all of the fighting was over. After all of the fighting is over? Oh snap Robotech / Yellow Dancer song.

Captain America - After an incident where the New Warriors fighting Nitro on a reality TV show blew up a school in Stamford killing lots of children the government started to crack down on heroes. The Mutant registration act was already in effect so they extended it to a Superhero Registration act. All heroes had to register with the government and tell them their identities. Cap was against this idea and fought against heroes that were for it. Eventually he surrendered because he felt the casualties of their ‘Civil War’ were too great. On his way to trial he was shot in the back and shot in the stomach via Red Skull pulling strings, so he’s currently dead. Seems like his old partner Bucky Barnes (who came back to life a while ago) is on his way to becoming the next Captain America.

Colossus - Alive, dating Kitty Pryde again

Cyclops - With Jean Grey still out of the picture he is dating Emma Frost, AKA the White Queen. The third Summers brother, named Vulcan has appeared. He turned out to be a psycho who killed Banshee, Corsair, married Deathbird and is ruling the Shi’ar as king. Cyke’s on earth while his other brother Havok and Rachel are going after Vulcan. Cyke has become much more violent overtime, even sending Wolverine to kill people when necessary.

Doctor Doom - Is behind the scenes and pulling a lot of strings with Red Skull and others. He recently got owned by Penance, formerly Speedball. Ooooh…

Gambit - He became one of the Horseman of Apocalypse. He later joined the Marauders, but apparently that was a ruse so he could help Mystique save Rogue’s life.

Hulk - After destroying Las Vegas some heavy hitters in Marvel plotted to get rid of him. So they sent Bruce up to repair a satellite and blew it up so he could land on an isolated planet and live there for the rest of his days. Instead he landed on Sakaar, a war planet where people have fighting tourneys every day! Eventually Hulk was happy on this planet, got married and was about to have a child. Then a spaceship fell out of the sky and killed everybody! Hulk blamed this on Earth’s heroes and came back to kick everyone’s ass during World War Hulk and that’s exactly what he did! Soon he found out that it was one of his alien buddies that took out his family and not the heroes, so he surrendered and is currently on lock down.

Iceman - Was dating X-Men member Mystique until she turned traitor and joined the Marauders! Come on Iceman, you didn’t see that coming?

Iron Man - Iron Man sided with the government during the Superhero Registration act and fought lots of heroes during Civil War. He now runs S.H.I.E.L.D. and is a member of the Mighty Avengers.

Juggernaut - Formerly a member of the X-Men and then Excalibur. He got the full strength of the Cyttorak Gem back when he fought Hulk during his World War Hulk rampage. He lost against Hulk but not too badly. Juggs is on the run right now, no one knows if he will return hero or villain.

Magneto - Lost his powers when Scarlet Witch said “No More Mutants” but got them back recently.

Marrow - Lost her powers when Scarlet Witch said “No More Mutants.” She is probably leading a normal life.

Omega Red - Last time I saw him he threatened Wolverine by kidnapping Jubilee, but Wolvie came out on top.

Psylocke - Is a member of Exiles. Seems like she is pushing up on Age of Apocalypse (AKA Alternate Reality) Sabretooth who’s a good guy. Groovy! :lovin:

Rogue - Had absorbed thousands of alien minds and was dying. Her touch was so lethal that it could kill. Mystique betrayed the X-Men so she could get the baby (the last new Mutant that Cable has now) because in Destiny’s diaries it said that the baby could cure her. She also ‘killed’ Mr. Sinister by ramming his head onto Rogue’s face (death really means nothing in Marvel and less for Sinister…). By touching the baby’s face to Rogue she was cured, baby’s a powerful Mutie ain’t he? Rogue was still tired of Mystique’s endless scheming, so she absorbed her entire self and left her damn near comatose. She said goodbye to Gambit for now, she needs some time to herself to figure things out.

Sabretooth - Currently dead, killed by Wolverine with the Muramasa Blade, a sword that if it cuts you you can’t heal up the wounds ever. Um yeah terrible story IMHO… His helper in the Capcom games Birdy has been dead even before X-Men vs. Street Fighter came out and she’s still dead.

Sentinel - As usual, depends on which one you are talking about lol! During the Mutant Registration act the government kept all 200 or so Mutants trapped in the X-Men Mansion, like a concentration camp. The government regarded Mutants as an Endangered Species since there are so few of them now, so it’s like they were under the government’s protection. The X-Mansion was surrounded by Sentinels who now have human pilots. The X-Mansion has been destroyed, the X-Men are currently homeless so who knows what’s up with those Sentinels. There was a female Sentinel who joined the X-Men who didn’t look like a robot at all, she was like a resident hot girl X-Team Member. She also betrayed the X-Men and signed up with the Marauders.

Shuma-Gorath - Came back to our dimension in 2006 and Dr. Strange tossed him back out! Since the Superhero Registration act the heroes are hiding out from the government, so Dr. Strange used the word “Shuma-Gorath” as the password to get into his crib lol!

Silver Samurai - Got his right hand chopped off by Wolverine. He also lost control of The Hand. He sits at home depressed watching Lindsay Lohan movies. He’s a fan of hers. Oh I am not making this up.

Spider-Man - He initially sided with Iron Man and the Superhero Registration Act and he revealed his identity to the entire world! He eventually left Iron Man when he saw that he and Reed Richards were locking up Heroes that were against the act in the Negative Zone. Since everyone knew who he was, Aunt May got shot! She was dying from a bullet wound and no one could save her. Mephisto made Spider-Man a deal, he would save Aunt May’s life but he didn’t want his soul, he wanted his marriage! So Marvel did a gigantic retcon via Mephiso’s magic. Everyone forgot his secret identity, Spidey’s never been married, he’s living with his Aunt May who is alive, and Harry Osborne is alive again. How? Like JQ supposedly said, “It’s magic! It doesn’t need to be explained!” Anyway, just take what you know from the 90s Spider-Man cartoon and you’re good because now the comic book Spider-Man is exactly like him. :looney: He’s currently a member of the New Avengers.

Spiral - Regarding the Mutants being an Endangered Species, Beast asked a lot of people for help, even villains like Doom, M.O.D.O.K. and Spiral! Spiral helped point Beast in the right direction, but the Mutants are still an Endangered Species and there is no easy solution.

Storm - Married Black Panther so she is the Queen of Wakanda. She’s been helping the X-Men out with all of their problems though lately.

Thanos - Died, killed by Drax during Annihilation. He was spotted with Death wearing a similar outfit and being happy, looks like they are finally knocking boots, even if it took Thanos’ death to get him there. Regarding the Infinity Gems he has in the games, all 6 members of the Illuminati have one. The Illuminati is a secret Marvel organization of heroes that have been meeting for years to do necessary / messed up stuff to save the world, you know like deciding to get rid of Hulk after he wrecked Vegas… So the people who have a gem a piece are Mr. Fantastic, Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Sub-Mariner, Professor X and Blackbolt. No wait a minute, the Blackbolt that was on the team was actually a Skrull so the Skrulls now have one of the gems! No one knows where the real Blackbolt is! To be continued in Marvel’s next omega crossover Secret Invasion where no one knows who has been a Skrull all along! First Elektra and then Blackbolt, who’s next? :looney:

Venom - Eddie Brock lost the symbiote and he is dying of cancer. He is quite insane now and thinks the symbiote is whispering things in his ear, telling him to do evil things. That’s not the case, he’s just crazy… Gargan, formerly The Scorpion has the Symbiote now and is the new Venom. He is a member of the Thunderbolts, a team of former villains run by the government and now Norman Osborne is in charge of them.

War Machine - Was one of the head honchos for the O.N.E., the organization that put Sentinels in front of the X-Men’s crib. James Rhodes even designed a War Machine styled Sentinel!

Wolverine - Regained all of his lost memories but they still come to him little by little. Found out he had a son named Daken who is half Japanese, has claws and hates his guts. There’s a female clone of him named X-23 (Yep, adapted from the X-Men Evolution cartoon) too. Wolvie’s a current member of New Avengers, X-Men and soon a new version of X-Force. Gotta keep putting Wolverine on covers Marvel.

EDIT: I googled Blackheart out of curiousity, didn’t know he was dead oooh…

that was an awesome read, thanks Sano! What were the writers thinking in regards to Silver Samurai. Lindsey Lohan fan?!

New Avengers written by Bendis. He has jokes.

Well let’s be realistic what are the odds of Capcom rebuying (I don’t care if it isn’t a word it is now) the license?

Really your guess is as good as mine at this point. Things look pretty good on both sides but who can say. There’s lots of things involving big business that we either never hear about or find out when it’s too late.

Alright I thought about a possible roster for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and came up with the following requirements.

  1. There has to be a roster cut from MvC2. MvC2 got away with its huge roster because it reused sprites from previous games. I’m assuming that if a MvC3 were to be made, Capcom would develop new hi-res 2D sprites, so it’s financially impractical to have a new 2D fighting game with a huge roster. Expect some of your favorites to be cut.

  2. Assuming there are no licensing restrictions (like no FF in the previous Marvel fighting games), you want the most recognizable Marvel characters in the game.

  3. Forget about the Street Fighters. With the exception of one, the rest of the cast should be characters from other Capcom games. It’s Marvel vs. Capcom, not Marvel vs Street Fighter.

That said, here’s my preliminary list for a MvC3 roster.

Marvel

Captain America (either Steve Rogers or Bucky Barnes)
Iron Man
Thor ?
Wolverine
Spider-Man
Daredevil
The Thing
Ghost Rider
She-Hulk
Storm
Magneto
Doctor Doom
Ultron
Venom

I removed the Hulk because he’s too powerful (if anything, he should be a non-playable boss). I have the same reservations for Thor, but I don’t know who else is deserving to take his spot. Iron Man keeps his spot despite his power upgrade. The Thing replaces Capcom Hulk’s character type. Storm and She-Hulk represent the Marvel females, and the last four on the list represent the Marvel villains.

Capcom

Ryu
Dante
Viewtiful Joe
Captain Commando
Bionic Commando
Mega Man X
Strider
Maximo
Morrigan
Tessa
M. Bison
Jedah
Nemesis
1 Capcom villain

If anyone is going to represent Street Fighter, it’s Ryu. Sorry, Chun Li, but I had to represent Darkstalkers and Warzard somehow. I admit that I broke the “1” Street Fighter rule with M.Bison, but the guy fits the Capcom villain slot perfectly. Same can be said about Jedah with Darkstalkers. Nemesis was put there to represent Resident Evil, and I couldn’t think of another good Capcom villain to fit the last slot, so it’s open. I could also replace Bionic Commando with an Onimusha guy if push came to shove.

Don’t know who I would add on the Marvel side if I could expand the roster by one or two fighters (maybe Taskmaster for the villains), but I would definitely throw in a Power Stone character on the Capcom side if given the chance. Maybe put Jin Saotome in there as well.

I’m sure you guys would have your own lists, but pick your characters carefully and assume that you have a hard limit on how many characters you can put in the game.
