Marvel Comics Thread

A super speed flick to the head solves most Luthor shenanigans.

Norman was making Peter’s life a living hell even before he knew who Spidey was, so that’s not really going to stop him from ruining Peter. Hell I found it brutal when he got Bulleye to torture him recently, and shot him in cold blood.

Norman has mad street cred.

Norman or “the Goblin”? You can’t tell who’s who. Norman Osborn is legitimately crazy. He needs to take medication just to function. A guy like that isn’t ruling anything for a long period of time. Lex Luthor wouldn’t even bother with the lunatic.

Yeah, and it isn’t like Osborn doesn’t have an army of super-villains at his disposal to send after him or anything.

Yeah, screw Warren Ellis’ character development. He totally ruined Norman.

Not really. That just makes him a character, rather than an archetype like Lex.

Yeah. Aren’t they called the Legion of Doom of the Injustice League? I forget.
It’s pretty much filled with scrubs anyway. No real threats outside of the Sentry and he’s a good guy.

What you call an archetype I call an icon. Norman Osborn’s crazy (long before what’s his face was writing about him also) so he’ll flip out and do something dumb like Namor and Doom said and screw himself over. This is supposed to be the most dangerous person in Marvel Comics? Don’t make me laugh.

Granted, this is comics and we all know Spidey and Superman won’t get killed by their respective nemeses. Still, if I were walking out on the street, I wouldn’t wanna get into a fight with a crazy guy. Like, if Stephen Jackson or Ron Artest circa 2004 came at me, I’d just try to avoid eye contact and get the heck outta there.

I always liked Mysterio.

Doctor Octopus is really under utilized too.

Mysterio is a sissy. He doesn’t even have any powers. That’s why he’s dead.

Dr. Octopus is cool. He died and was resurrected and he used to have adamantium tentacles. They should bring those back.

Mysterio (the original, Beck) is alive and after his ressurection he can use real magic. He became an agent of Hell. Big arc in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man dealing with that. Issues 11 - 13.

After the last issue of Pet Avengers I’m fairly certain that the entire thing is a ‘What If.’ Funny book though.

Pet Avengers #3

Spoiler

So Obama’s dog Bo is in it, putting this story in current time. But Thanos showed up too, who is supposed to be dead? Oh well Ms. Lion is still funny! So next time Thanos is gonna beat up on some fuzzy animals. Don’t tell the ASPCA! :nunchuck:

So Mysterio isn’t alive. He’s just undead. Which is a different form of being dead.

Yeah pretty much. His soul is attached to his corpse (half his head is missing from the gunshot that ‘killed him’) which is different from say, just having his soul running around. Undead tend to have corpses and lack souls in fiction (vampires and zombies). Call it what you will I guess.

Uhh…Bullseye’s no ho.

And you’re wrong.

You realize that Lex is very poorly rooted in reality, right? You have to suspend any sort of disbelief or skepticism when dealing with him. Because this is a regular, powerless joe who is going up against the strongest superhero in any comic, ever (probably).

Norman, on the other hand, is somebody who has worked his way up in a relatively realistic fashion, and gained a Harrison Ford in Air Force One kind of appeal to the normals in Marvel. And he has the craziness, but that just makes him a character. Luthor has about as much personality as the Cobra Commander or Skeletor.

Bullseye is a cool guy and all but let’s be serious for a minute (about a comic book). He can’t do anything against Thor or Iron Man. If he throws chopsticks at them nothing’s going to happen. He just isn’t as fearsome when he’s not fighting someone weak like Daredevil. The Real Avengers aren’t worried about him.

Lex Luthor is a super genius. He makes Dr. Doom look like a fool. How many times do the super heroes come looking to him when there’s a global crisis? Anytime something goes down in DC he’s involved. You’d best believe that he’ll have a say in Darkest Night.

Norman Osborn is a nobody. He controls the Thunderbolts, shoots some Skrull chick in the head, and all of a sudden he’s some de-facto ruler? It makes no sense. And just where the heck did H.A.M.M.E.R come from? One day it’s nothing. The next it replaces SHIELD? That’s ridiculous. And what does HAMMER even stand for any way. Lazy writing going on. Lazy writing.

Wow, seriously? He couldn’t take Thor, sure, but Iron Man would be a pretty good match up.

 @ “real” Avengers.

You really think the God of War, Marvel Boy, Moonstone and Daken are pushovers too?

Are you kidding me? Luthor is “so smart” he gets beaten by Superman on a regular basis. That’s right. Superman OUTWITS Luthor constantly. Joe Shmoe alien strong guy out smarts the smartest guy on the planet.

DOOM AT LEAST goes up against someone of equal (or lesser according to DOOM) intelligence in Reed Richards/Stark/Pym.

When was the last time Luthor outwitted the devil?

He killed the leader of an alien invasion that was allowed to happen because of the current leader’s stupidity.
So yeah, they gave him the keys.

He disbanded SHIELD and made up his own organization.
He tossed out the old furniture and brought in his own.
What’s so hard to get about that?

First pic of Scarlet Johansson as Black Widow for Iron Man 2. Interesting…

After seeing the abortion of a movie called The Spirit, I have my issues with Scarlett being anywhere near a comic character. Also she looks like crap with red hair.

LOL but The Spirit was so bad it was good. Such a colossal failure comes only once in a lifetime! I made sure to see that one in the movies because it will never be shown in a theater again. It’s not like Frank Miller set out to entertain anyone when he made that flick. He got a bunch of stars to make a movie that’s worth zero stars. He clearly functions on a different level us mere mortals can not comprehend.

I have no real opinion on Scarlet as Black Widow. She’s fine I guess so long as she can fake an accent. Not really a character I care that much about honestly. Either Tony or Steve Rogers in a CA movie need to bag her once and then they can call it a day.

EDIT: Comic Shop News this week has a great write up of Bru writing The Marvels Project. He’s going to write about a conspiracy behind the start of the Marvel Universe, way back in 1939! Wolverine is said to appear too and some cool things like that. Super excited!

Also Natalie Portman was just announced as Jane Foster on Thor.

My favorite battle of all time is still Namor and the Android Human Torch duking it out in New York City, such an amazing battle that ends well. Bru should deliver another top notch piece of work, so we can all praise his greatness again.

Well Thor just got even better in my eyes, please be a good film, please be a good film…

Norman Osborn is a punk surrounded by second-rate supervillains with some vague title of an even more vague organization. I can’t wait until this Dark Reign garbage finally ends when he goes back to the mediocre second-rate villain that he’s always been. Fake Lex Luthor.

I have no idea what comic you’re talking about.
