Marvel Comics Thread

I was at my local Barnes and Noble last week and picked up Ultimates 3 on paperback because I’m a huge Joe Madureira fan. The art is fricken awesome, but I felt the story was kinda lame, but overall a great purchase because of the art!

Uncanny X-Men

Spoiler

So that’s not Professor X chillin’ with the villains AKA the Dark X-Men. Norman Osborn has Mystique impersonating him while Charles is locked in a cell! Adam X was in the comic too, remember him? :looney: Fun.

Who is Adam X?

double post, my bad.

so whats the verdict on reborn?

I didn’t hate it, it was aight. I don’t mind the “how” really. I just want to know why the hell these supervillains don’t just end it with a bullet in favor of some elaborate plan that can go wrong in a million different ways. Well I know why (for the sake of story) but what was the Red Skull thinking there.

Anyways, I trust Bru. Dude always brings some good shit to the table (forgetting his uncanny run). I’m just weary of the possible preachy cap stuff
Reborn

Spoiler

while he relives his past.

Some guy they tried to push off as the third Summers brother a long time ago. Ever since Mr. Sinister said he knew about Cyke’s ‘brothers’ Marvel’s been looking for a candidate, after Nicieza who introduced the concept left Adjective-less X-Men. It was almost going to be Gambit at one point, or at least that was a pretty big rumor / fan theory. Gambit is ‘kinda’ his third brother in X-Men The End continuity. Don’t read that lol!

They never revealed either of the two as being the third for 616. As you know several years later, it turned out to be Vulcan.

Reborn was alright even though I’m not sure I completely understand it. Which is fine since it’s only the first issue. Involving something really old from Marvel’s continuity, mainly from Fantastic Four is really great. So far it seems like a new way to bring someone back from the dead (at least as far as superhero comics go) so that’s all I was asking for.

whats the old FF4 thing it references? I missed it (never paid attention to them).

I don’t hate Mark Millar, Mark Millar hates me.

…no wait, that’s not true, yeah I do hate Mark Millar.

Red Son was good though.

Reborn

[details=Spoiler]Doctor Doom’s Time Platform. That’s really old, goes WAAAY back to Fantastic Four #5. LOL my favorite was when they used it in the 70s (our time) to send Marvel’s Godzilla back in the past and he met up with Devil Dinosaur. Not sure if this list is complete, but to give you a gist -

Lol, Adam-X, “The X-Treme!” I remember him. I still remember his first appearance. I think it was his first appearance, at least. It was an old issue of X-Force, probably written by Nicieza and drawn by some typical early '90s Marvel artist imitating the Image style. Pretty shitty.

Putting on my Sano Hat :china: now:

Adam-X, aka “The X-Treme!” teamed up with Shatterstar while Rictor went to buy groceries. Adam-X “The X-Treme!” and Shatty had to fight each other, then they realized that Arcade (the Murderworld dude) was the diabolical mastermind. Adam-X “The X-Treme!” and Shatty put aside their differences and beat up the bad guy! LOL :looney: Then they parted ways, Adam-X “The X-Treme!” returning to whatever random alternate dimension he originated from and Shatterstar met Rictor at a supermarket. Adam-X The X-Treme!'s battlecry was “BURN!!!”  because his mutant power was to ignite people’s blood! So he’d cut them up with his X-Treme Knives and then say, “Burn!!” while they died!!! That’s why he’s called The X-Treme, because his methods are extreme!

It looks like Fantastic Four and Thor have conflicting storylines. That’s what happens when you writers have who don’t really know much about the Marvel Universe and don’t care and like to stay in their own myopic little world.

I group these together -  - never these -  Except for maybe long convention posts where I’m usually drunk, tired and don’t remember. :wonder: You don’t know me at all. :arazz:

Good stuff from Marvel this week
Merc with a mouth was very fun and didn’t disappoint.
EXiles #4 was too good.

it was ok but the “twist” was kind of bullshit and random though

now if i stand corrected sue storm supposed to be “dead” right?

 at sue being in Thor… :wtf:

that be XForce#30 (not X-force annual #??). Mysis still has that issue (somewhere) she was a big shatterstar fan (well more a cable & wolverine fan but w/e) and thought the shiar mutant hybrid was a little too Extreme. should have just been Lilandra and Chucks baby with tactile psionics but nearing phoenix lvls. superboy would look like a pansy

Gambit’s non-neutered mutant power rivals the convoluted epicness of a Summers brother’s power, but I’ll never want to see him use it in 616.

The Invisible Woman is alive. Apparently in Thor 600 the Asgardians are going to settle Latveria. However Latveria was destroyed in Fantastic Four 567. How is this going to work out? Maybe it’s an alternative universe. Maybe Marvel doesn’t care but one way or another this conflict must be resolved.

Haven’t read FF or Thor in a while, but Doc Doom rebuilt his castle in Dark Avengers semi-recently, don’t know if he did the same for all of Latveria though. Sure Marvel will Retcon something somewhere.

Question for anyone that has read Dark Reign:Utopia #2

Dark Xmen

Spoiler

So was Emma picking Namor as part of the team a way of keeping Norman from getting his way? It seems like she doesn’t trust the team he has put together and would rather have Namor there to have her back.

(Dark) Wolverine #75 was a nice read, though that is incredibly biased, as I am a Daken fan. The slight against Bullseye was incredibly funny, as is the little mind games he is playing with him. Look forward to seeing how this arc shapes up.
