“MM: Absolutely. To me, that?s a fundamental difference between DC and Marvel?when big things go down in the DC Universe it always ends up feeling like fairy tale because everything always remains the same.”*
I agree millar!
One of the reason’s i dislike dc’s so…Instead of characters changing or growing they get replaced with a younger version of themselves or something.
flash, green lanturns, superman, robin, the list goes on and on…Yet the villains never really change which is cool for some villains but others.
I really don’t care if the characters don’t age or whatever. Just write good shit.
EDIT - LOL Poor Millar. He doesn’t realize that this will get retconned in about 6 months AFTER he leaves the book. He really thinks that’s gonna sit well with fans.
Good stuff, Painy. See, they should get someone like Kyle Baker to do some Deadpool - y’know, someone with a genuine sense of humor. His work on Plastic Man was top tier. I can only imagine how much he could do for Deadpool.
Yeah, you either have to read Henry IV or watch the movie Henry V to get that one. The line is something along the lines that a criminal says “Will you hang a thief?” and Henry V says “Thou shall.” Meaning the criminal will be the one who gets himself hanged in the end, for stealing. There’s a flashback to this scene in the movie right before said criminal is hung by Henry V. So um yeah, Thor won’t destroy the Marvel Universe with his great power, Joe Quesada will with crazy editorial decisions. Ah, proof positive that jokes aren’t funny when you explain them (or even when you don’t explain them in my case ha ha) but hey, did the best I could. Not just comics man read some Shakespeare, it’s good for you. Or just watch the movie Henry V so you can check out Kenneth Brannagh’s acting chops before he directs some ol’ Thor.
Morrison Mags, the whole Xorn psyche out, he wiped out NY City and killed Jean Grey. He was like an old has been in the story, but Zeph explained to me why before and it made a lot of sense. Course Marvel later said that Magneto didn’t do any of this…
Claremont Magneto in the 70s/80s was cool in that he would fight off the X-Men by himself. Destroying cities with an Earthquake machine and sinking the Leningrad Submarine, all really cool stuff.
Lobdell’s Magneto in the 90s wasn’t too bad. Power-wise this is when he was the most broken. He froze the entire X-Men roster at Illyana’s funeral by controlling the iron content in their blood… :wow:
LOL at Stan Lee’s Magneto who had mental powers. Though yeah that did make him even more of a rival for Professor X back then.
Do want! I just hope I can watch it on Hulu since I do not have cable. Man this show would be fun to watch with and talk to my young nephew about it. As for the comics front, I am psyched on what happens at the end of Secret Invasion but I do not think I would but monthlies in the near future after that. I wonder if a digital comics subscription would be a better idea for this reader who doesn’t buy as much as other comics fans?
Also check this out the Franklin Richards Son of a Genius live action clip. I wonder if the people behind Ice Age would make a CG animated movie based on his stories since Fox has the rights to the Fantastic Four?
