I got a newbie question, dear oracles! I’ve been practicing the slide setup with Magneto all afternoon and figured I’d do it one step at a time thus tried just getting the **c.hk xx sj. **down first. In doing this I noticed that I wasn’t able to cancel the c.hk unless the hk actually connected, is this something that’s fundamental to the engine, i.e. normals are not cancellable (is that a word?) unless they connect, or is it just me being crappy? I can do the setup just fine now, just not cancel the c.hk by itself.
Also, ad hoc question: is the Anakaris curse infinite working on XBL or is it bugged like the dreamcast?
you can’t sj cancel a blocked c.hk. that would be hella broken if you can.
my rant of the day:
this game is starting to piss me off. every time i fight a cable, the player will just jump back and viper beam + asset spam.
i can never fucking get in without getting shot. :annoy::sad:

To get in on Cable, the entire time you’re not in his face, you need to be where he is not. Once you’re in his face, stay in his face.
For example, if Cable is jumping back, shooting, throwing 'nades, throwing out viper beams to keep you locked down to the ground, you need to make sure you:
a) dash forward (learn to wave dash as this will be used an exceptional amount, especially against Cable),
and b) super jump up+forward to get closer to him, yet still be able to block safely.
Air-dashing and using flight to fly towards him helps a lot too, but you have to be EXTRA, EXTRA, EXTRA careful when using flight against Cable, because he can just shoot you right out of it.
Know when to go into flight and when to unfly out of flight for safety.
Also, acknowledge that Cable can guard-break you pretty easily. Going into unfly mode will put you in normal jump mode, so you can get guardbroken right after that.
For example, if you’re playing Sentinel against Cable and you have unfly… you super jump and fly… he super jumps right after you and AHVBs… you unfly and block… in this exact moment, you will be guard broken after you let go of your block unless you fly again and maneuver to safety.
Thinking how it would impact the game I realized how broken it would be, never mind. I’m stupid.
It works on DC? I got it to work on Cable but Ruby Heart didn’t turn into a doll in training mode, she got hit by the curse and it comboed but she didn’t transform. I read somewhere in the Anakaris forum that it didn’t work on DC so I never bothered testing it further. This is good news though, I’ll pick this team up next. Thanks for the answers, people.

I was doing the c.lk + Cyclops AAA, c.hp, sj. something, something setup. It worked just fine on Cable, the curse hit and comboed and he turned into a doll. After gotten this down to where I could kill him off in one combo I decided to try it on smaller characters, picked Ruby Heart and she didn’t turn into a doll even though the curse comboed (the meter went up when the spinning thing hit her). I probably had auto guard on though cause I practice ROM variations with it. How come auto guard shouldn’t be on?
I found out that it glitches (don’t know exactly why) and doesn’t allow curse combos to curse (though they combo)

So i was watching a magnetro video earlier, and apparently he used a “suki cancel” in the video, and I’m not entirely sure what that is.
Suki cancel is when u SJ cancel a normal so u can perform another action.
Hey everyone, just wanted to know where I could look up how the top tier teams interact. I couldn’t find a match up chart though that would be excellent, and it would be even better to see detailed reasons of why each team does well/poorly against each other. (IE MSP wins/loses to Santhrax for these reasons…)

suki cancel is when you sjc a move into a block animation (there needs to be something on the screen [sometimes not even…with glitches] that will make you block) which allows you pretty much to instantly recover from the move while standing (instead of going into SJ)
basic suki canclling usually seen in high level play is when launching an assist, and your opponent does hail/ahvb/etc. and, so that you don’t get hit, you hold upback to cancel your launch into a sj…which is then cancelled into a block animation
