Hi im new to marvel and was wondering what are some easy to use characters for noobs to play? My team I like to use is juggernaut and cpt commando. I have been struggleing to find a good first guy to add to that team. I have been trying to use some of the god tier guys like magneto, storm, and iron man. But I find there combos to be diffucult to learn for me because I really dont play fighters that much other then this and when SF2HD came out. So do you have any suggestions for easy to use teams or characters for a noob?
Juggernaut/Sentinel/Captain Commando is a workable team. As Juggernaut use Sentinel’s ground assist like a blocker in American football. Wait for pretty much anything to hit then super. Juggernaut punch to your hearts content because the drones will cover you. If Juggernaut dies you still have Sentinel and Commando which isn’t so bad.
is there anyway to get a list of the characters and what their purpose serve to the team?
Like a meter whore by my understanding is someone like cable or strider. They need the meter to do ourboros or the hyper beam. But what is a character like doom used for? From what ive read to set up ironman but how?
Commando is used mostly for his great anti air assist. But when is it most used. I guess what im asking is what are the most common uses for the people most commonly used.
Button Mashing only works for certain supers. Iron Man Proton Cannon, Cable HVB air and ground, Hail Storm…etc. Some specials like Tron’s Drill also gets more hits and some throws too. Im not going to name them all but some moves do have benefits of mashing to them. Someone who is mashing for every move is an idiot.
I dont understand how u dont get the benefit of a Tri jump, but here it goes. Tri jump is an overhead meaning a tri jump HK for example must be BLOCKED HIGH. If not u can tri jump and go straight for a low. Its everybody with a tri jumps’ mixup. Basic high/low into free combo or resets into more damage. Just look at ANY Magneto and ull see the benefit of a tri jump.
3)Unfly mode gives Sent the ability of doing an action after unflying in the air. Normally Sent cant do anything till he hits the ground. Not block, attack, anything unless u refly to do another attack or just to fly again, but u still cant block. To get this basically get hit in the air and fly mid air and now youu have unfly mode. Now u will lose this if you normal jump at anytime.
As for combos just look at character specific forums. Im being nice answering this cuz most ppl will be a dick an tell u TO SEARCH. This forum has been around for like 9 years so it has ALOT of info. Dont ask unless u cant find it after SEARCHING.
I’ve got AHVBx3 pretty much dialed now, I still miss it online occasionally do to external factors but in training and offline I pretty much hit it everytime I go for it.
What I can’t seem to get down is Cable’s gb (HP -> AHVB) when the next character comes in. How would you recommend practicing that? I’ve been trying to do so by putting the CPU on jump and auto block then GBing them when they reach the top of their jump, but it doesn’t really help with the GB when they switch in, since I have to shoot it without seeing them.
I need to practice that and the timing of the AHVB for the GB, any tips?
There are LP and LK buttons, and HP and HK buttons. MvC2 has always had 4 attack and 2 assist buttons. The medium attacks are still there, but involve hitting LP or LK more than once, following the old zigzag series. So LP and MP are the same button and LK and MK are the same button.
Old:
Jab Strong Fierce
| / | / |
v / v / v
Short Forward RH
MvC2:

|Jab Strong|
\--------------/ Fierce

|Short Forward|

A few moments before their next character comes in, jump up and shoot them with FP. The FP lingers long enough in the air that it will hit them the moment they come in.
From there,
They either block, and then get guard broken, giving you easily the time to land and AHVB.
They take the hit, in which you have to quickly AHVB before you hit the ground (faster than this actually).
They block and then push block, in which you should rejump and and AHVB. Or if you AHVB early, you can either keep the beam on them and then wait for GB, or you can wave the beam on and off of them and then hit them with that.
So I’m fairly new to Marvel and started out as team scrub. I’m slowly picking up on the game but I really just don’t like Cable. I’ve been thinking of switching to MSP since I’m really interested in learning a solid rushdown team but would switching to a team like that this early be a bad idea? Or are there other pure rushdown teams I could learn that might be better for a beginner?
Edit:Considering Clockwork too actually. Actually scratch that sentence about being a newcomer, I don’t care how difficult it is, I just need some ideas. I love to be in peoples faces in fighting games, not running away.
Thanks for the response Lilman, I appreciate the feedback.
I figured tri-jumping was part of a mix-up game, it’s good to see my assumption was right there. And thank you for the information about unfly mode.
Guess it’s time to learn some combos.
Santhrax can be played as rushdown, or runaway. you will get a lot of pure rushdown if you want it though, and imo it is a smooth transition from your current team.
Yeah I am a straight noob I think. I play this and HDR but in neither do I see an increase in skill for me. I need some like constant players to play with the few people I meet online either play a few matches and go. So any hardcore players hit me up.
And I seem to have problems connecting combos. I jump in and I try not doing lows but it seems like everything gets blocked regardless.
i hope this thred isnt dead i just started mvc2 and i would like a good team prefreably not using cable storm or magneto any help would be greatly appreciated
