Ok, so I’m still playin’ this game every now and then at my school. Mainly I go up there when I see someone else playing and then kick their ass with mag/cable/sent o_O I once beat this one dude, and then he put more tokens in and I beat him a 2nd time. He said “fuck this” and walked off.
Anyways, got Cable’s TK HVB down. Can kinda loop it. Also learning to use those grenades. Don’t know any combos with him. For Sent, I got his c.lp, c.lp, jab rocket punch down. Also working on the timing to cancel it into HSF and also working on looping it. Still not very consistent with it. Don’t know combos with Sent either. Learned some stuff with Mag today. Did a launcher, sj, j.lp, j.lk, j.lp, j.hp. Also saw that I could dash during the combo, but can’t really connect anything afterwards.
Try this with cable,
tk the hk grenade, but timing it right so that you can fire an air hp on the way down. Not the regualr air hp but time it right before you hit the ground so you dont bounce up in the air when he shoots it.
Its good to learn to fire the air hp as low to the ground as possible, because you recover as soon as you hit the ground…which is before the bullet hits, as far as i know.
One thing that can make your cable alot better is to learn to hit them with the actual gun during a standing Hp. If they block, you have them in bloc stun. If it conects or hits, You can immediately sj xx which means hvb, that goes for the standing hp and the crouching hp.
Cable - crouching jab, crouching mp, HK and RP assist, qcf +K
work on that.
Magneto - learn his 5 feirce combo.
d+Lk and RP assist, d+Mk, RP hits, dash Launch sj Hp airdash DF HP, HK, slide when you land.
Most of the stuff you want is in each characters individual threads.
Hello, I see the term option tree used around here and I want to make sure that I understand it.
An option tree is when you have a couple of options that can lead to damage or an advantageous position if your opponent guesses wrong in a given situation(eg. After FS, Sent can come in with a cr.lk into HSF combo or j.lk into fly combo).
On that note what is the best way to learn or discover option trees such as using them becomes second nature. Sometimes I play like a broken record and get easily countered.
although I’d replace “a couple” with “an encyclopedia”
Option Tree = a way to visualize the a set of possible of follow-ups you have to a given combo or set-up.
Once you start to think in terms of option trees you’ll start to notice wild sht when you play. For instance, realizing that you’re prioritizing your options for Set Up X then re-adjusting mid-match b/c he’s blocking that everytime…
Every Marvel player who can hack it against decent comp has a pretty darned good understanding of option trees whether they realize it or not. There’s a reason why Yipes is tops right now-- he’s got a sizable portion of his brain dedicated to 9869 or so Mag/Storm resets, and he’ll go through three of them before you’ve even seen the first.

I’m expecting to finally get a converter within the next day or two, and I was hoping to start learning Marvel with the team of: Cyclops, Cable, and someone else. I was suggested that maybe Sentinel or Storm would be good to complement those 2.
Which one of those characters would be the better option? Or maybe there’s a lower tier character that would be better suited for this team? Thanks.
just a quick question not sure if this was posted anywhere. I know evo uses 2/5 power ratio for the marvel tourney. Just wondering if the ps2 version is also 2/5, i would see no reason this would be changed, but i tested some damages from tourney videos while sitting on my ps2 and it looked like 3/5 power. this is of course in versus mode when you start it up and both players choose their handicap.
Anyone know for the ps2 version? Please no “ps2 versions is stupid” i know its not completely legit, but i dont have any dreamcast converters at the moment. Just please answer the question.
those are just normal moves that have weird hitboxes where u could hit someone from the other side.
i always used mixup and crossup interchangeably but i guess a cross up would be when u go to the other side of the opponent and attack. like say u do a 5 fierce, and as ur opponent is getting up u jump to the other side and attack. or if ur in the middle of a rom and u knock them down with a fierce and call an assist and jump to the other side and attack . or u could jump to the other side and then jump back. Basically, they are the backbone of resets. Many resets utilize cross ups and mixups. i think they are the same thing but if they are different, i think mixups just means going hi or low, and i guess cross ups would be right or left. If u ever face a strong magneto, u can get discombobulated and he will do like 3 resets that involved cross ups and mix ups and assists and gain enough damage from that , that he can just do an infinite and u die before dizzy.
