Haha yup that’s the way to do it. I always avoided hard combos and a few weeks ago i practiced really hard for 1 week and i’ve got my 1 framers and safe jumps pretty close to locked now because of it.
You just gotta WANT it. (Also i now too have duran duran stuck in my head. God dammit.)
So who are the SF4 players in the Maritimes? Do you guys ever have online sessions?
And GodofGamblers, I think we talked before a while back - you said a lot of your Moncton crew wasn’t into 4 - is there anyone left who was/is? And if you’re ever up at Gamezilla, let them know you’re interested, too. I’ve been bugging a lot of the people I know, but most of them aren’t into fighters. Heh.
Oh for fucks sake. That’s exactly what i need to hear. The makoto match gets more enjoyable. Sigh. Guess i’m gonna just have to not get knocked down. : /
I hope i’m not here in Nov. haha. If i am though i’ll come out for sure. It’s depressing down here now with you gone and cooke working. I’ve finally given up on trying to bully bernardo into playing. I finished ghetto stick and tried to charge him just for stick and buttons throwing in the padhack, MDF, and work for free and he still didn’t bite. Getting sick of online real fast lol.
Maaaaan, you should be able to notice the difference just going from training mode to online. It really makes me sick. It’s so bad in Marvel, makes me just want to play Sent and say “fuck it”
Haha, it’s true. I used to enjoy playing online for various reasons, but it eventually made me angry that I couldn’t get past low 3k PP because I was unable to anti air or tech throws like I wanted to. This made me a sad, sad person, and now I’m an angry old man who hates online play. I really should start playing online again, but I don’t actually miss playing Street Fighter 4 that much. I’m basically in a state of retirement with the game. I will probably begin hardcore grinding online once umvc3 hits.
Also, my Ryu game just leveled up from actually reading SRK boards on Ryu. Apparently I have his 1 frame link of c.lp, c.mk down solid, because I assumed it was an easy link, but could have been doing c.lp, c.hp for more damage and an easier link, with the same timing.
Play online because it exposes you to every imaginable character, gimmick, and crazy situation possible. On a long enough timeline, you will learn how to fight against multiple styles of every character.
It took me so long to be able to acccept this fact lol. I just played some games with a T.Hawk online and i learned enough about that match to feel confident in it now. Guess what though i lost 11 matches in a row. Every time he would do delayed dive over a fireball i couldn’t react fast enough to DP it so i kept getting hit all day.
That’s the exact kind of thing that used to make me want to rip my hair out but now i’m just like whatever that’s fine, because i know if that was offline i’d anti air that with a deep DP every time and then he has no way in. It’s all about downloading that data.
While online play is there to focus on matchups instead of combos (atleast in North America. damn Moonland and their awesome internet), if the lag is too predominant it can effect characters in severly negative ways. Sagat’s fake kick for example, or even C. Vipers game entirely. Feinting can be a lot harder in an online environment. Yeah, I don’t play either of those characters so it doesn’t really apply to me, but the principle idea is there.
