I like the idea, they have a similar system set up for Wednesday Night Fights. I think it will help encourage those who want to get better to actually get better. Mind you our pools would probably be smaller, split them up in like 8 or so maybe. I like the idea though, and if there’s people who are disappointed in being in the lower pool should suck it up and improve. I myself am happy being in the low pool, haha.
I really like how ranbats is set up right now. Even if the system is gameable, well… everybody can game it. Top players are going to filter up to the top, bottom players are going to filter down to the bottom. I just don’t want to be prevented from playing anybody, I like all of us!
It is actually quite gameable right now. If you look at Season 3 I am losing to Mesmer constantly, yet because no one wants to play him and because I played a lot, I ended up in the top spot. During that time period he would usually beat me 7-3. I feel like that is a problem, and something should happen to address it, but I’m not sure the proposed splitting is going to do more than extend casual sets with players.

Ironfist looks great, but I think Virgil is going to make a splash. Won’t know until November though.
Hey, Veysey, there’s actually quite a few people showing up from around Moncton lately. St. John has a fairly lively group going, too. This thread totally belongs to Halifax, though.
Also, Iron fist looks decent, but I don’t see the mobility to make him scary. His wavedash is good, but not much better than most, and he certainly doesn’t seem to have any air maneuverability options. If a character is more limited in motion than Felicia I don’t see them making much of a splash. That’s what I’m thinking, anyways.
Wow, that’s good to hear. I knew St. John had a decent scene and I was waiting until I got some way to commute there to start going to anything, but if Moncton is picking up, all the better (things have been really quiet here in the past)! I’m not terribly experienced, but willing to play almost anything (main focus on AE, though).
Now that I’m finished with school, I finally have time to play (instead of study :X) and looking for any kind of local scene here in Moncton to up my game and have a good time. If someone wants to fill me in (games/consoles played on/location/anyone welcome/etc), that’d be appreciated.
Also, Gamezilla is renovating one of their rooms here in Moncton. When I was talking to them about it, they said it’d be a possibility they’d hook a bunch of 360s up in there for fighters (and some other stuff) if enough interest was shown.
Get that Gamezilla thing going, promote the shit out of it, it’s the best way to find people in your area.
