Actually, a projectile wouldn’t help in this case, as the palm also destroys projectiles. It is classified as a projectile itself, so my advice is to try projectile invulnerable moves, though I haven’t tried it myself yet.
When I charge a projectile it works… with either Oni or Gouken.
No, only situation you’ll see full animation is anti air or punish.
Yun is so stupid. So freaking stupid. I’m not sure I can take what I’m even doing seriously. If you guys thought Dhalsim was bad, wait until I actually learn to play Yun. I have no idea how a character this good could exist. I’m still chuckling even just thinking about some of the B.S. he has. Also, Ex. Lunge punch, ultra is really, really dumb.
P.S: Yun dittos are great fun when both Yuns backdash and begin whiffing palms for meter. It’s possibly more stupid than Honda mirrors where they down back at each other all match.
Good thing he gets mauled by Zangief!
I didn’t believe Yun was as silly as I’ve heard about until I played him. Still, Yang > Yun.
The thought of cmd grab, cl mp, cr mk, hp slashes (2 hits) xx fadc xx cl mk, dash Ultra 1 makes my pants wet.
Super saiyan Gouken is pretty neat. I’m surprised. E.Ryu’s U2 is so badass.
more 3s good stuff
Derek Neal 11-minute Video Walkthrough:
I really dig Oni. Don’t think I’ll switch mains as I have a hard enough time keeping Dudley’s options straight, but I might try to pick him up as an alt. AE tierlist anywhere? Wondering where he falls at high level; I like his damage capability and easy shoto combos and frig I love the air dash exactly as much as I thought I would. Can’t land his air Demon for the life of me though.
Gotta get my internet situation fixed ASAP, but I’m pumped for casuals next week.
ps. if anybody has any cheaper and quicker solutions (not jury-rigs but actual solutions) for a PS3 YLOD, let me have it.
All solutions for a PS3 YLOD are jury-rigs. Only real solution is to buy a new one.
AE may not be the last SF4 edition if AE sells really well. I was really satisfied with Super’s balance, but I dunno about how far apart the chars are in AE
Heh, my post killed the thread
Got eaten alive by Mac’s Ken today, stepkick now does 100% damage on hit I think.
Getting mad enough at my skill deterioration to consider dragging the 360 into the living room for some XBL, but I’m leaning towards just grinding combos in o/l training until I can do them in my sleep. How much “training” is online for you all?
Thread killer! A lot of my practice comes from online, it’s just easier then trying to arrange a get together with some folks.
I try a lot of dumb shit online. I don’t take it very seriously, so I can spend rounds verifying that no, standing mp isn’t the right anti air in that situation. I lose a lot, but it doesn’t really matter. It’s only online. It’s not great for practicing combos, other than finding setups and spacing to land the combos. Some people CAN execute things online, and I envy them, but online should be a spacing and general training ground rather than something serious IMO.
XBL is good for match up training. Dudley stuff is not easy, if you can’t land it online don’t worry about it. Even today I was having no problem landing something simple like c.lp c.lp c.mp with Oni playing with Toshin. But as soon as I go online I was messing it up more then not. If you can’t land it it non-online then you need more practice in training mode and in actually matches.
Combos are not everything for training though. Spacing, punishing whiffs, blocking, throw teching, match ups, setups, frame traps. Work on it all.
Yeah for sure, I just found some very basic tutorials this morning that have already changed the way I play. Hopefully. But as a Dudley my damage output should be through the roof and it’s not, so that’s one thing I’m trying to improve really hard. I think my spacing is tolerable between his hp (also great to land as an anti-air, I know I shouldn’t rely on it over mk but it’s so much fun) and c.mp, both of which I can cancel out of if I land 'em. Combos and blockstrings and tick throws and making full use of my knockdowns are what I’m working on right now.
Haven’t really put much time into AE yet. Need to start putting in some work before Springhill.
Playing a TON of online games helps you keep a mental log of silly situations you can call upon in high pressure matches. There are lots of little quirks about each match that you won’t learn from only playing one or two people that use a specific character. A lot of it will be stuff like very weird anti-airs or character-specific backdash-catching technology.
Today, for instance, I learned that if Balrog does low jab jab short xx headbutt on Abel, he can create a super weird teleporting crossup with jump roundhouse if Abel does a quick stand. He immediately jumps forward with what looks like safe jump timing and presses roundhouse, and Abel’s wakeup animation pushes Balrog through Abel and puts him on the ground on the opposite side. Huh?
Online play builds your encyclopedia of crazy SF4 trivia!
