Maritimes Thread 2011

Sweet. I’m going to go ahead and add you to my friends list on XBL so that we can get some games on the go sometime.

holy sweet jesus!

there are people from hali here!?

mind = blown

Yeah man, we normally have anywhere from 12-20 people show up for Ranbats. We’re currently in between seasons, but there’s casuals going on this Monday with SFIV and TvC at The Last Game Store (located near the Lacewood bus terminal), from 7:00-10:00-ish. It’s free, so come check us out sometime.

i knew the LGS had casual games on sundays, but its a bit of a haul for me to bus there (over an hour one way). do they just have 360’s going?

ftfy

Pfft! I almost wrote that! I just… didn’t. We primarily play on 360’s although occasionally there is a ps3 there (probably won’t be, at least this Monday). There are plenty of arcade sticks around most nights, so if you play on stick you’ll be fine either way.

If you can ONLY play on PS3 pad…Yeesh. tugs on his collar

bring your friends if they can play to:woot:

99% of my friends play shooters or rpg’s only haha. and i can play on a stick (fairly decently at that) but im use to a playstation (snes/dreamcast/saturn) controller for fighters. as long as a stick is there i’ll be fine.

Awesome. Problem is I’ll only have access to my 360 briefly in April when I go back home between semesters before I return home permanently in early July (I’m from Ontario). Regardless it’ll be great having another Canadian on my friends list.

I’ll try to hit up Flushes for you, Guru. See if you can’t get something going sometime. He’s pretty good. I reckon you’ll enjoy that.

There’s always enough sticks (knock on wood) So you shouldn’t have a problem if you do turn up.

At the very least, there is the 52 that goes right to the LGS, so even if the trip is a bit of a haul, if you work it out alright, it’s not too inconvenient. I’m not sure if the 16 helps you out, but that goes by there too. There’s always the possibility that there might be people driving out that way too (Not often, but, maybe I’m just stupid and can’t remember) that can get you home, or at least closer, if you get to know people, and ask nicely. =)

We could always use more people. Who do you main, anyhow?

for ssf4: akuma, im also “trying” to relearn Dudley and ibuki (been awhile). and yeah the 52 is the only one that will get me there. (20 min walk to the sportsplex, but thats the way she goes.)

Walking is good for you, whiner! Also, I am sure there are busses. AND THE WEATHER HAS BEEN OKAY. Capslock. Or something.

You should try to come out this Monday. See if you like it. With walk+bus ride, it shouldn’t be more than an hour commute. I know the 52 only takes about…hm, I don’t know. 25 minutes to go from Dartmouth to Lacewood? Maybe a bit more. If you are catching a bus around 6:15-6:20, you should be good to go. Should get there around 6:55.

At the very least, you can get to know some good people, and get some more people to add on Live or whatnot for when you can’t get out. =)

Been maining Akuma the whole time you’ve been playing SFIV?

yeah pretty much. no one (that i know) bought either 4 or super4 for ps3. and i was playing around with alot of charaters when i first got it. however i use to kill 3rd strike (hence me trying to re-learn 2 fighters from that game) with akuma.

Fair enough. Well, you definitely came to the right place if you want to level up your game, or even just be casual. We have decent groups of both sorts, so you can be happy either way.

We also have a tournament coming up on March 12th, over in New Brunswick way. Might be something to think about, if you like the community and all.

I thought about picking up Akuma for a while. I was dancing with the idea of Akuma and E.Honda for a while, but I just couldn’t get into them.

i find with akuma you can gain alot of control with him. and come in on better angles then say ryu, ken, or sagat. IMO…

He’s got a mad mix up game. If you go about it the right way, you can get a really tight vortex going on. He’s definitely a good character, but I find people often get frustrated before they get good because of the low health and whatnot. It’s a kicker, for sure. That’s not really what didn’t sell me on him, though. Though it was definitely weird, after being the Goddess of Grapplers* for so long.

*: I am not good enough to be a goddess of any grappler, but I had to go with it, in the name of alliteration.

the health is pretty lame, however hes raging demon is another great ++.

to be 100% truthful grapplers are my worst foes coughhugo* SOOOOOOOO many matches ended with me wanting to toss my tv out the window.

i always wanted to us a charge fighter… but i still cant get a hold of a good charge flow

Grapplers always make people feel like that. It’s even worse when it’s a girl playing T.Hawk. I’ve made made people pretty mad before. It’s amazing. It really pays for itself. You know, once you get over the fact that pretty much anyone can walk all over you most of the time. SOME DAY I WILL FIGURE IT OUT.

I’ve been learning Guile lately. It’s the first time I’ve ever used a charge character. You really just have to grind it out. I could barely throw a friggin’ sonic boom when I started, haha. You really have to grind it out. That’s the best advice I can give.

ol’ t.hawk eh?

i think the anger comes from the fact that MOST started to play SF around super street fighter 2 on snes and he was considered to be a broken char. back then.
