My college “arcade” (being generous in terms here) got a KOF Neowave cab about 3 years ago.
I played it for about 5 months before it broke down. Of course, being that it was just a college “arcade” ran by students just trying to make their 6.15/hour it never got fixed despite how often I told them was broken. Then about about a year later they replaced it with a Madden Arcade cabinet which I have never ever seen anyone play in the past 2 years.
I dislike the 2002-style gameplay, so for me the new stuff and deviation from 2002 are a plus in my book.
Sux about the Neowave machine. That would have been fun to get a regular set of people playing. Broken controls is probably the number 1 or 2 reason why arcades are failing in the US. People are just too lazy/don’t care enough to fix things. Which forces people to go back to playing WoW on the comp instead of heading to the arcade like they should be.
Yeah…I’m down for Neo Wave. I haven’t even bought my plane ticket yet but it’s the only SNK game that I could say I’d be serious about participating in. Unless you guys have KOF98.

If I make it to FRX you can count me in as a definite on this tournament too.
Also, it’s not about me not liking Neowave, it’s just that I’ve never played the game for more than 20 min, because there was no one to play. And I got it for Xbox with no converter so I wasn’t going to play that shit on the pad for too long. So I have no clue about the game’s system and shit like that. I’ll pretty much be playing the game as if I was playing 2002. We’ll see how that goes.
I can give you a quick run down of NW for the 2k2 players-
Pick SC-Mode. It basically means you start “Activated” the entire time and never have to “Activate” into BC Mode. No you dont glow yellow but it is disguised…however you dont have 3 bars running the whole period to do your flashy-ness…that would be more broken than 2k2. You start with 3 bars and everytime you use a Cancel it costs you a bar.
Other than that practically everything is the same.
Ahh then let me give you a Idea of the other grooves so you can make your choice-
GB Mode=Guard Break Mode- Just Defense enters KOF! You can JD on the groud but not on the air and is PERFECT for those that want to turtle and punish. It can change the game and take away Hyperhoppers options without a doubt. You also have what is called a Guard Break move- hcf+CD costs a meter you glow gold and it is unblockable and makes the opponent bounce ala counterwire.
MAX2 Mode- You sacrifice having no Roll but you have access to all of your Supers ala 2k2. In the other grooves you have only access to your HSDM Max. In this one you even have access to the Hidden Desperation move and all the others. You all do more damage in this Groove than all the others and the Super Meter fills up on its own.
As you see every groove has its pluses and minuses. most used in tournies is GB mode.
The GGXX/ team tournament will start at the end of the singles! If it’s not completed by 12 midnight it will be completed on sunday.

1st of all you need to slow down playa. The only OFFICIAL snk tournament’s I have aproved for FRX are NGBC and KOFXI. I’m on a 12 hour time limit for this ballroom and that’s why i’m so strict on the limit of tournament games being played in the tournament area. No side tournament will disturb/slow down a main tournament game with people entering the side tournament. I’m all for other games being played at FRX, but I don’t want people DQ’ed playing a side game when they have a match in a official FRX tournament game.
Also I have someone running the SNK tournaments, but you are welcome to help with tournaments also. M.Blood, A. Heart, GGXX:A.C. aren’t tournament games. They will be there for casual play only. I was going to allow a melty blood tournament due to P.Z. donating the japanese version to FRX. But I can’t now due to the GGXX/ team tournament needs to be completed so the teams can qualify for EVOworlds. I was thinking about allowing SST, but there need to be atleast 20 peeps to enter or it’s not going down. I can’t have someone holding up the main tournaments for a 8-10 man side tournament. That’s not going to happen. Right now the only reason i’m keeping NGBC on the main tournament list is because it was up there from the begining, but it looks like it might not fill up a 16 man bracket.
I usually count the list of any game and take atleast 5 peeps off the list as automatic no-shows. That’s usually how it works because some people like signing up and they know good and damn well they wasn’t going to make it to the event. Sometime people pre-reg hoping to attend the event and later on tell me to take them off the list because they can’t make it out this year. Hopefully everyone that pre-reg attends this years event.
The main thing is I don’t want chaos during FRX. I hope i’ve made myself clear.:wonder:
I can list some of the people on the pre-reg list that know they can’t show up, but they signed up anyways just for the hell of it. There are also some people that are coming, but don’t sign up for the pre-reg list. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY :looney:

It all depends on when the GGXX/ singles ends. If it ends late on sat then we may start some of it on sat and end it on sunday. Hopefully we’ll get it done all on sat. :wonder:
Yea it happens every year, so that’s why I don’t throw extra games into the line up because I want all of the official game to be completed on the days they start. The pre-reg list is there to give me a fill on how many people “MIGHT” come to FRX and what games they plan on playing. It helps with making the brackets also, but if some people don’t show up the brackets I make before FR get thrown in the trash. Also if people show up to FRX without signing up on the pre-reg thread that makes it hard for me and the FRX staff to make the brackets. Most of the time it’s either that one person that will make a 64 man bracket turn into a 128 man bracket. If you have 70 people you have to goto a 128 man bracket. I hate when there’s only 1 person over the bracket size. Just one of my dislike on running multiple tournaments at the sametime. More games doesn’t = better tournament IMO. The main thing is I don’t want chaos during FRX.
If we can’t hold KOFNW/SST at the tournament location then I totally understand due to time restraints on your part etc.
I hear you on the part of the chaos part without a doubt, and I don’t mind at all if for some of the smaller games we can make sure that we host the tournies in another location.

I am trying to promote the SNK scene as much as possible and that is what I am trying to accomplish hence I am trying to do as much as possible and I totally understand your situation without a doubt. So if I need to hold SST and KOFNW in the hotel room or something then thats no problem at all I am willing to work with that without a doubt.
Any estimate on how late things will be running on Sunday night? This includes any casual matches and whatever else. Gonna need to know so I can know when exactly to book my return flight…some of the fares are around $700 :wtf:
