March 10th and 11th, 2007 (FINALROUND)X "10th year of a southern tradition"

**…?.!!..?.. ** (frx…)

Well I’m budgeting for this…and good this is before TS7…good good good…

we gotta have NGBC though!!!

You can sure as hell count me in.

4649 you gonna be up for NEC right?? Well hey then man maybe we can get some gaming in of ROTD, PIM, NGBC and others at NEC before FR10 right???

Yes I will be entering KOFXI also…make no mistake about it…

March will be here before you know it people, so start saving up right now for FRX. You really shouldn’t have an reason not to attend this years event if you’re an hardcore fighting game player.

Hey are you all gonna record these matches/tournies???

yes we will.

I just received my contract for the hotel. If you get a room at the holiday inn make sure you tell them ylour with the final round 10 group. I have 30 rooms reserved for people attending frx. Let’s try to get these room sold. Reservations must be received no later than : 2-5-07 You can still try to reserve a room after that date under the Final Round 10 name, but they might be booked up after that date for the weekend of FRX.

Concering 3S being on arcade cabinet

I know you guys have your hearts set on having 3S on arcade cabinet but is there anyway that could be done on console? I mean, last year, we had over 120+ people for 3S and we only had 3 areas to play 3S.

Four machines, two of which were put back to back making one station for a match to take place at. Time wise, the 3S tourney dragged on a rediculous amount of time, I think I played 5 matches in a 8 hour period. That’s a long time to be standing around waiting for your time to play again. I mean I like arcade cabinets as much as the next guy but damn.

Can you have the arcade cabinets back this year AND some tvs for 3S to be played on console? People who want their match to take place on arcade could talk to the person they’re going to go up against when their name is called to see if that person would rather throw down on console or arcade machine.

We all know everyone brings their own sticks anyway to Final Round, you couldn’t spit somewhere without hitting a stick laying on the ground or tripping over one. Also, people are accustomed to their own sticks and would probably play better on those as I heard several people complaining about the setups of the arcade machines at FR9.

The time factor: Unless I’m mistaken, it took the 3S tourney at the last final round 9 hours to finish. If we had six or seven consoles hooked up, we could cut that time in half.

I’m showing up regardless to FRX wether you consider this idea or not. I know it’s “tradition” to have arcade machines but if tradition means only having one machine for every 40 people then…I think I would make an exception to the rule and include some console version in there to help move the tourney along.

Am I the only one that feels this way?

Having Cabinets and Consoles I think would be a Good idea, it would please everyone! And I do recall reading the FR9 Thread and ALOT of people where bitchin about the Sticks.

And when I went to FR7 and FR8 I wasn’t to thrilled with the TINY ass cabinets or the VS. Cabinets cause the Screens where all Jacked up and I can’t tell you how bad that Fucks up Q’s corner C&DB reset combos/timing.

I’m with RPD on this one. I’d be all gung ho arcade too but console is like Evo standard now and it’s more convenient to have everyone use the controller of their choice. Not everyone likes US sticks. If anything at least come up with a way to do 2 seperate tournaments (arcade/console) so people can play what they want to play. I understand arcade play is like a tradition but times have changed.

Yeah, my only reservation about going to FRX is 3S being on arcade. I completely suck on P360’s since I’m so used to using my Jap stick on console. I’m not much better on 8-ways.

omg you cry babies. lol. if you cant play on both types of sticks you need more practice.

If you want more matches, set up consoles in the room you book and play there inbetween matches. Id rather play on arcade any day of the week and would much rahte rplay on a head to head cab then console.

If you can’t play on both Arcade and Console you need more Practice.

Sorry, but there is only one 3S cabinet in all of NC that I know of, and it has bootleg Japanese sticks that are broke to shit. I would love to get better on American style sticks, but right now, all I can perform on are Sanwa/Seimitsu controls.

Good idea, but what happens when one person wants to play on the cab and the other wants to play on console? What do you do then sir? I don’t want to have people argue over what version they want to play. Any arcade style tournament runs slow when you have over 100 people in 1 tournament with 3 machines. I’ve never seen any tournament end before 12:30am both nights with that many people attending a best 2 out of 3 double elim tournament.:wgrin: Now I could goto the pool system, but I personally don’t like that method of running a tournament. No disrespect with evo organizers or any other person that runs that type of tournament style.

See this is the problem I get every year. I can’t please everyone. People bitch if it’s not the arcade version because all they play is the arcade version. All I hear is; (that console shit don’t play like the true arcade version!) But now people are complaining about it’s not console. (I play better with my stick and not some random arcade stick i’m forced to play with.) I don’t get it people. I’m damned if I do and i’m damned if I don’t.  :looney:

I may have 2 or 3 console stations for 3s for those that want or agree to play the console version of 3S to speed up the tournament, but if 2 people can’t agree on what they will play on then they both will recieve a lost.:arazz:

J/K or am I?

Times have changed, but we must remember our roots sir. I’m an old school head, so my roots are in arcade machines. I know some people didn’t start playing fighting games in the arcades, so they prefer the console. Trust me when I tell you I truely understand why people perfer console over arcade and vice versa. Final Round was the 1st major all console tournament unless I forgot another tournament along the way. You guy’s must have forgot that the phrase “CONSOLE WARRIOR” originated at FinalRound.

I’ve been a champion/supporter of the console warrior since day 1. Back in the day when FR was thought of as just “some random console tournament in the south.” People would look down or not take what I was doing down here in the ATL seriously because FR was all console. So with time comes change. The organizers of evo, ecc, TS, and MWC all started with arcade only major tournament’s and slowly started to add console’s to their tournaments. While the roots of FR were and always will be console. Back in the day and not that far back console tournaments were looked down upon by the community as a whole and would never be looked at as a true major in the scene. I think FR was the first to break that mold and maybe i’ve gotten away from my roots in past few years. It’s so ironic to me that all of the BS I use to here and argue over console vs arcade tournaments for 3-4 years on SRK that the BIGGEST TOURNAMENT IN THE WORLD IS NOW ALL CONSOLE!!!:rofl: All I heard was;

“Fuck console tournaments. That’s not a true test of skill and an all console tournament will NEVER be a major!” Now EVO has turn into the biggest 3 month nation wide tournament ever!!! Go figure that shit out!

I don’t like 360’s also, but the people that are lending me the cab’s furnish their cab’s with whatever sticks the prefer to play with. My cab has 8 way comp american HAPPS sticks.

No need to call people cry babies hommie.:wgrin: Everyone has their right to an opinion.

You are a wise person.:wgrin:

That’s not my fault that the sticks in charlotte suck ass, but I understand where you are coming from sir.:wonder: I will really think about adding console stations to 3S this year.

I agree. I’ll be heading to FR this year and I prefer the arcade machines, but I also support the console idea. This will be my first trip to FR, so I don’t know how you guys do things, but if you have people standing around for that long as people have mentioned before, It’d be good to have some consoles to use on the side. I can play either way, I have a 3s machine at my place, but when it comes down to it console is a little more practical for a tourney around here.

whatever larry decides on is fine, the real issue is time.

the whole i wanna play console because i cant play arcade is a little shoddy, part of street fighter is adaptation imo. the sticks work for sure and the ones with p360s are very manageable for p360s, and ive played on them.

im for whatever larry decides, im coming regardless.

1/2 console 1/2 arcade is definately a bad idea though. youve got to have uniformity at a tourney.

Worst case scenario, if two people can’t agree to play on console or arcade, decide it by a coin flip, like choosing which side you were on back in the day.
