Hey guys, I’ll be coming to FB from Dubai UAE… It’ll be my second major in the US. I’m trying to get pre-reg but it’s just sends me to my account on paypal. what should i do and is it possible to get an interview with you ShinBlanka?
Hello Arkive_UAE, that’s awesome that you are planning to attend FR16. Please use the link at the bottom of www.finalround.org to email the webmaster about your problem with registering for FR16, so we can get that issue cleared up asap! Yes I would love to do an interview with you. I’m normally running around the entire venue for 3 days straight none stop, but if you make sure to remind me about the interview the week before the event I will sit down with you. Either way make sure you come and say hello if you’re able to attend.
For those that need a hotel room for the event. If all goes well we should have more rooms released in 2 days. There’s another group that might be booted if they don’t claim their rooms.
So as of right now we have players from Singapore, Israel, UK, Korea, Dubai (UAE), Saudia Arabia, Mexico, Japan, Canada, Brazil, and Chile planning to attend FR16 on their own efforts. This is shaping up to be one of the most international events in the world as the GLOBAL SATURATION of FINAL ROUND continues! With the great players coming internationally and the great players from The United States of America the FR16 hype is like the T-virus and it’s spreading around the world at an alarming rate! Also be advised that EVERY OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT winner at FR16 will receive free badge and entry of the game they won for the new tournament series started by Myself, BigE, SweetJohnnyCage, and LI Joe called “THE FALL CLASSIC”! More news on this exciting new tournaments series is coming soon as we’ll be announcing ranbat qualifiers coming to an area near you. Our efforts are to build a stronger EC scene and we have a plan to do so with the ec community help. We beleive that the strength of any tournament is only as strong as it’s scene/region it caters towards. Seperately we have help grow our regions (The NE and the SE) with our own events, but for the past year we have asked ourselves “What would happen if we worked together on an event that could bring the east coast closer as a scene?” That answer = T.F.C. Stay tuned for more details in the up coming weeks! Watch the team spooky stream at WB7 for the more info.
I have plenty of free space in my room. I have 2 king beds and just myself and 1 other person staying there for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. If you are interested in staying and chipping in for the room, send me a PM.
I heard about TFC a couple of months. A guy who attended NEC told me you guys announced the collaboration during that tournament. And that you guys want this to be the next big thing, not just another major, but a very large one that could rival EVO in terms of size and scale. I don’t know if that’s what you guys are aiming for but that would be amazing if you guys could put together a event like this for all the guys on this side of the country. I’m really excited to hear more about this and so should everybody else once they become more aware of it.
Caleb: It’s not really fair to compare FR to EVO and I never like it when people do that. When I started FINAL ROUND I did it with believing that no one tournament/event is great than the community as a whole. If people didn’t know about the history of the FGC and of FINAL ROUND it was the 1st console major in the USA from what I remember. I had to do it because our local arcades were dying in the ATL and around the SE! Back then if you held a tournament on consoles your event wasn’t thought of as a LEGIT major event and with no known crop of top players in the Southeast FR was looked over for years as that “console warrior tournament” for the majority of the USA scene. The only players that looked at FR as a major was the players from the SE and that’s how FR started to grow. By the support of the SE scene FINAL ROUND has played an important part of the FGC growth as a whole over the years, but it was only one part to the puzzle that is the FGC!
One part of a big puzzle is what everyone events over the years has help keep this genre of gaming alive for a new generation of gamers. TFC “THE FALL CLASSIC” is a tournament that myself, BigE, sweetjohnnycage, and IL Joe wanted to start to grow the EC scene as a whole. This union of us four forming TFC should have happened a long time ago as each of us has done their part to help the community to grow. It’s not about being E-famous or being popular. It’s about making the EC scene stronger and these are the people that came down on vacation to FR15 and heard about my mother passing and offered to help me during the event. I didn’t have to ask them and they wouldn’t take me telling them no for an answer. These are people I can trust and work with as there’s no ego’s involved with this event that we are going to create for the EC. We hope you guys support this new venture, but we understand you can’t attend everything. Stay tuned for the regional qualifiers that maybe popping up in an area near you!

TFC is a venture Joe, John, BigE, and myself wanted to do for the EC. This has nothing to do with being a rival to Evo. This is about making the EC strong as a whole.
Ok everyone ask and you shall receive! With over half of the building sold out and our group doubled the amount reserved for us I had to sign an additional contract to get the remaining rooms released to you at the FR rates! At 6pm tomorrow all of the remaining rooms will be released! I don’t know how long they will last so you better get them at 6:01pm to make sure you get a room. Here’s the link: http://www.finalround.org/location.cfm
Also for those that was waiting for their check they will not charge your card before you arrive at the hotel so you can feel safe that they won’t charge you.

“Hey man Utah will be making a return to Final Round next year and we was wondering Will the venue be the same as the 2011 venue?”
Yes this is the same venue we had in 2011, but we’ll have all of the other ballrooms/meeting space in that same area to equal 18,000 sqft in total tournament area space. It’s always good to have Utahs best come to the EC and compete in FR16. There’s some more news to come for FR16 in the up coming weeks so stay tuned! With last year event having 400+ in ssf4 and umvc3 we are planning for 512 in each of those games and at least 300 players in TTT2. That’s why we have to goto the EVO 16 man pool system for FR16 to control the crowds and run things on time. Our goal is to complete everything on time this year, so people will have more time to enjoy the event and the city.
Online registration is the key to getting everything done in a timely manner. We urge everyone to register online for their badges and games asap, so we can properly make the pools in advance and post them 3-7 days prior to the event date. If you do the emergency registration at the door you’ll only have a 4 hour window on thursday evening (7pm-11pm) and friday morning (8am-12noon) to register for tournaments during the event and you WILL NOT BE SEEDED IN ANYWAY! You’ll be placed in the 1st available spot in the pools and no effort will be used to seed you by skill level or by city/state. Door registration is one of the main reasons why any event start late IMO. I was going to eliminate at the door registration at this event, but I do understand that it’s hard out there these days and sometimes people don’t have the money to attend until the last minute.
If that happens and your only option is to sign up at the event. You will have a chance to compete, but we will not remake/reseed the brackets/pools for anyone that signs up late. The pools will start on time. We can’t hold up the pools to reseed them for those that didn’t register online. So we at FINAL ROUND are asking everyone that seriously plan to attend FR16 to use the online registration to help us run a smooth event. It not only helps us make the pools well in advance, but it’s also cheaper to sign up online than at the door. (online reg = $40 and at the door emergency reg = $50) We hope to see everyone that came last year at FR16. Here’s the link to online reg for your badges and games:

I understand some people don’t have the money right now or they don’t have a paypal account and that’s why I still offer the emergency door register, but you only have a short window to do so on site. There will be at the door emergency registration on Thursday March 28, 2013 from 7 pm est --> 11 pm est and Friday March 29, 2013 from 8am --> 12 noon. As soon as 12 noon hits if you’re not in line you will not be allowed to compete in any games during the FR16 3 day event.

If you do sign up at the door for your games it will be $10 more than the online fee. ($40 online and $50 at the door) Also you won’t be seeded in ANY MANNER if you sign up at the door. You will be placed in the next available slot in a pool. We can’t spend 1-2 hours reseeding the pools because people want to be lazy. So that’s about it everyone. There’s only a little bit over 3 weeks before online registration is closed.
