Fighting Game Format
The tournament format for Super Street Fighter 4 and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 will be similar. Both tournaments will be double-elimination, best of 3 matches (with each match consisting of 3 rounds). The exceptions are the Championship Finals, Elimination Finals and Grand Finals, which will each be best-of-5 series. In the event that a 2nd Grand Finals is necessary (i.e. winner of Championship Finals loses to winner of Elimination Finals), the Grand Finals will be extended into a best-of-7 series.
Matches for both games (SSF4 and UMvC3) will be played on XBOX 360 or PS3, depending upon players’ preference. Both players must agree on a console platform before beginning the match, otherwise the console platform will be determined by coin-flip. Character selection will be made blind by each player telling their preferred character(s) for the match to the referee, who will then set up the match. The losing player of each game series can then opt to change character(s) if they so choose. This selection is not made blind, and the winning player must play the same character(s), but may choose a different ultra or character order.
Halo and Call of Duty Format
The tournament format for Halo and Call of Duty will be similar. Both tournaments will be round-robin, 8-player free-for-all deathmatch (i.e. Slayer), in 8 minute duration matches. In other words, players will cycle through games of 8 contestants over 15 rounds, playing different opponents each round. All matches for both Halo and Call of Duty will be played on the XBOX 360.
Scores from each round will be recorded to determine score standings. Scores will be calculated as Kills * Kill-Death Ratio. Assists will be accommodated into the Kill-Death ratio with Assists treated as 40% of a kill (note: 40% is the damage threshold in most shooters in order to score an assist). The players with the highest scores after all rounds of play will be crowned champions.
