Many Problems with arcade sticks

Every stick/controller is bound to break after a while if you use it regularly, there’s not much you can do about it except clean it every once in a while. That’s why I stick with using FightPads because when they break i can just get a new one for $20 - $30
I’ve been playing SSF4 for a couple years now and i’ve only had one Fightpad break on me.

Yes all controllers are prone to wear and tear and will eventually fail. But I want to say you are wrong with your outlook. Game pads are made cheaply and you get what you pay for.
Arcade controllers that used authentic parts are very difficult to break, and 99.8 times out of 100, it is a easy repair to swap out parts.

The vast majority of arcade sticks I seen damaged are from misuse/abuse. The kind of abuse that would instantly destroy a game pad, a stick goes for months before they give up the ghost. Either people are too rough on their controller or they do not know how to take care of a USB cord. The other issue is I seen the original factory PCB fail but thats also replaceable.

Majority of the time once a pad goes bad thats it, there no fix and I have perfectly good pads fail on me in the time of months.

Assuming you are telling the truth, obviously if you only had one good fight pad break and you play often, then you pick the better game pads and you take care of your stuff.

so if i buy a stick and just use it at home regularly, is it just going to break in a few months?

Also to get back on topic here, i havent gotten a multimeter yet but i will very soon. When i plugged each of the wires into the pcb seperately, none of them worked and neither did any combination of them. The lights on the front side of the pcb did not light up in any of the cases. So does that mean its most likely a problem with the PCB?

Assuming you don’t play with with a hammer, probably not.

Either the PCB or the cable between the PCB and wiimote. Or the wiimote, but you said you tested a few different ones.

I was just saying how it is for me lol I live in the middle of nowhere so finding a place that would give me parts for a stick or repair it would be impossible also I don’t even think there’s a place out here that sells arcade sticks at all… I mean I could get one online but again, if it breaks I’m pretty screwed. That’s why I stick with pads myself. They don’t break on me because i clean them and i don’t hammer the buttons or be rough with them, or it could just be luck. I know arcade sticks are better made in every way, but Pads work for me just fine. The only reason my last one broke is because the D-Pad wore out and there really is no fixing it once it’s broken.

Brick and mortar stores that sells arcade sticks or arcade parts are few and far between.
I have to go online to get my sticks and arcade stick parts.

Also Arcade sticks are not prone to breaking the way gamepads are. Were talking parts that are designed to be used at amusement places, where snotty brat kids, punk-ass teens and drunk adults abuse the living daylights out of the poor arcade cabs. So if the parts are good enough for industrial entertainment/amusement use and designed to take a beating, there are more than good enough for casual to serious game playing at home. From how you describe you take care of your pads, a good arcade stick would serve you for many years before you notice any wear and tear, and by the time something does break it is 6 days via USPS to get a replacement part from Focus Attack or Paradise Arcade shop. Some of us from past projects even stock spare parts, mostly springs or micro switches. So having something fail is not a big concern.

so i found out that the problem is not with the wire, which pcb board should i get? and hopefully i can find someone who will install it for me.

Well, that’s certainly strange. The only native Wii board that I know of is the PiiWee from Toodles (gdlk.co), or you can put in a Cthulhu or PS360+and use a Gamecube cable with the Wii (does anyone know if TvC supports this?).

TVC does support Gamecube Inputs If I remember correctly

I can confirm the MC Cthulhu works very well on my Wii and TvC (very underrated game, btw) via gamecube connectors

So I have a problem with a brand new stick i just bought. I just bought a Fighting edge stick from hori. the stick is a beast except the fact that sometimes when i press a button it will automatically instead smash one or two adjacent buttons as simultaneous inputs. for example… hit strong and jab/strong/fierce all come out simultaneously. anyone know about this and/or how to fix it?
