Hell yeah, good to see another RTSer at SRK. I fell in love with AoE2, it was probably my first RTS that I played competitively, back when the GameSpy Arcade was all the rage. Then I got into WC2 and SC and the rest is history.
First, I suggest you drink plenty of water to keep your self hydrated and you should be getting in 64oz (8 glasses of water through out the day). Dehydration will cause you headaches as well.
Second, your hands are shaky do to low blood sugar, make sure you are eating small proportion snacks or meals more frequently every 3 hours to be exact and I would advise a good source of protein and low glycemic carbohydrates if you decide to eat a meal to stabilize your insulin levels.
Third, I would seriously recommend that you limit yourself to short amount of time to play this game. I’d say after match 40 or 50 your vision will get blurry and you will be tired minded, which will cause you to make many mistakes during game play.
I would advise you take a nice 10-15min walk to lower your blood pressure and try to get your mind on other things(positive things obviously) or if you have any daily tasks. Do those things which are more important than this game. Don’t make Street Fighter your master of your life or it will consume you to nothing.
That feeling you get in the middle of your torso around your stomach when you’re really excited or nervous is your adrenal glands pumping adrenaline into your system. When you body is in a state of excitement for extended periods of time, your adrenal system starts to wear down and you get the very same pain, drowsiness, shakiness and blood pressure problems that people are complaining about in this thread. If you do this to yourself regularly, your immune system will begin to suffer and you’ll end up getting sick more often. Months or years of this can damage your entire hormonal system, which will permanently affect your mood and personality as well as your physical health.
The moral of the story is you need to limit your exposure to SF2 or stop playing entirely if it is damaging you physically.
To add to this:
People with weak immune systems, as well as women who are nursing, pregnant, or may become preganant should avoid playing SF2HD online. Don’t play SF2HD if you experience dizziness or rage, as these may be signs of a rare but serious side effect. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience an erection lasting more than 4 hours. Wait, what?

Really? Im quite relaxed when i play this game… I mean this game has so much bullshit tactics i cant help but laugh at it while playing.
I agree with the adrenalin problem as well, forgot to add that thanx.
Starcraft does this for me as well. It’s amazing, I have been playing that game for so long. Excellence! For the swarm imo. I only get about 200 APM though.
Yeah, I’ve become so obsessed with it now I can’t get anything done really. I’m not complaining though, it’s a choice. Goddamn this game is addictive.
vf4 wore me out a lot more…i cant go back to that game its too much lol. st is definitely up there though because of the patience required.
Oh god, I fucked my my grades big time in college because I played AoE2 so much. I didn’t really get into it until the Age of Kings expansion pack was released though. I spent soooooooooooo much time playing, but I got wreck cause I tired to use the underplayed civilizations (Azteks, Saracens, Mongols) and Flushing was an instant win against me. I hated how everyone only wanted to play Arabia. Random maps were much more fun for the most part. I remember consiparacy theories about the Koreans being overwpowered because MS wanted the game to sell well there.
Interesting informational tidbit morsel: A while back, some university students somewhere (neuroscience?) did a study where subjects were hooked up to an MRI and some other monitoring equipment while being made to play video games. One of their neatest observations was that only in men did the gaming tap into large “pockets” of primal instinct, the women showed other and fewer regions of their brain being stimulated by the activity. IIRC, only males produced adrenaline during the test sessions as well. These differences can go a long way towards explaining the discrepancies in gaming habits and tendencies (or lack thereof) between males and females.
Hahah. I always did like those warnings they’d stick in the front of instruction manuals and even the DS startup. Fighting games are pretty dope, I can only imagine that they give someone out there a furious hard-on the whole time they’re playing. Sometimes awesome music solos give me wood so I figure…
